Story
Genevieve is a very sweet and wonderful girl. She is a livestock guardian here on my farm. She has had some issues with escaping the fence by going underneath it. She loves to visit the neighbors and as a result, they have complained. I love her dearly - she is very gentle and kind. She loves to play with her packmates and attention from humans. She has been with cattle for the past 6 months and done a wonderful job as a livestock guardian. Genevieve is currently 11 months - she was born on 4/5/2024. She has current rabies and bordetella vaccinations. She is still intact since typically they are not spayed until their first heat cycle. She has spent some time inside and does well in a crate though being a livestock guardian, she is not frequently in the crate.

Story
Peregrine is a wonderful boy! He has been raised with his parents and siblings on a farm with lots of space to run and play. Both of his parents are OFA heart certified, hips, elbows and patella luxation certified, and genetic tested to ensure they breed happy, healthy pups! Peregrine loves to play in the water and chase a ball. Peregrine is feisty and would be an amazing guardian or companion to someone who will give him exercise. He loves to be pet and interacted with. If you let him, he would love to be a lapdog. As he has started to grow up, he is settling into a calm boy with strong working instincts. Overall, he is an absolute sweetheart and has certainly stolen our hearts! Parry is current on Rabies and bordetella vaccinations. All tags and vet records available. Parry works as a farm dog and has livestock experience. I have too many dogs here on my farm and he needs a home that will love him forever.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $300 plus tax Friendly! Not treat motivated  No accidents No separation anxiety  Dwight would do best in an active home (His foster believes a home without younger children or another resident dog would be ideal) Loves to be outside  Goes on errands with his Foster like Home Depot runs and Petco visits One time Dwight saw a mannequin and nuzzled it's hand so it would 'pet' him - Cute!! Dwight would like everyone who sees him to say hi  Dwight is a handsome Great Pyrenees and Border Collie mix! He loves dog parks and playing outside, rolling in the grass. He will do well in a fenced property or farm. He is leash trained, muzzle trained, and crate trained, however, the door often remains open. He’s a quick learner. He’s a little over 2 years old and shy of 100 pounds. He knows no, wait, down, paw, gentle, bed, belly, “get it” to eat, and sit with many more things he’s still perfecting. He loves the butt scratches but when he is sleeping her prefers to be left alone. He can sometimes be a little protective of his chew bones or food. He doesn’t play fetch but he loves chasing a laser like a cat. He prefers humans to chase him as a way of playing. He came from a home with two adults and should not go to a home with children. He’s used to a more quiet space and doesn’t do very well with loud noises. He did a great job outside watching his previous owner in his work shop. He does a great job being an outside guard dog, that’s definitely the Great Pyrenees in him. He loves to work and play. He has a ton of energy.     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
Kit has been in rescue for over one year & celebrated her 2nd birthday (9/29) by showing foster mom a new trick. She is almost always the first one to come in when called. This is a huge milestone because she was so skittish when arriving into rescue that she would run away anytime she was approached or called to come in. She now has a perfect routine after 18 months, but it has been slow progress.  She loves getting pets & has been enjoying belly rubs as of recent. Kit loves other dogs but tends to be very dominant and a little snappy when meeting new dogs for the first time. She would be fine with a dog that is less dominant or with a patient alpha, who will gently show her who’s in charge. She would also be fine as an only dog. She absolutely loves puppies & is very gentle, so the perfect scenario may be that she is the first dog & another is added at some point. She cannot be around small animals, such as birds, cats, or chickens, as her prey drive is HIGH. We have chickens & she’s gotten into them this summer with unfortunate outcomes for the chickens. She definitely needs a fenced yard because her absolute favorite thing to do is run! She will frolic & play for as long as she can. She loves long walks, soft toys & sleeping on the couch or in bed. She doesn’t need to be kenneled although when she is in new places, she may chew on things she is not supposed to, such as socks, pillows, and cushions. She has not done this in a very long time but it is a nervous response for her. She would love a home where she could have more one on one attention as she doesn’t ask for much.  Due to her cautious nature, older, respectful kids would be best. She will take time and patience to adjust to a new environment but when she does the little things will reward you tenfold. She's been in rescue long enough and would love a home of her own!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 17, 2025, 2:47 pm

Story
Cash is a big, gentle, 4 year old, 84# Pyrenees mix softie with big, brown soulful eyes. He loves being with people and desperately wants to be part of a family. He wants to be close but is not super needy. He is a loyal protector who is alert to anything outside “his” home that might disturb “his” family. That could be anything from dogs barking down the street to trucks pulling up. He has a deep loud bark that might be a problem in an apartment or a place with shared walls. Cash was a stray from an over crowded southern shelter but with his long fur coat he is wonderful for Minnesota’s winters. He enjoys being outdoors, and a fenced yard is required so that he can do his due diligence & keep his yard safe. Cash walks well on leash without much pulling and is easily redirected if he does tug. He really loves his walks. He knows some commands like sit, shake, lay down, and will follow the command of “wait / stay” before getting his food. He seems to understand “come” but his independent nature leads him to sometimes think about whether he wants to obey or not. Cash is not a high energy dog; he loves to cuddle and to be around people; he is housetrained & will let you know when he needs to go out & potty. He likes to graze his food so it’s best to feed him 3 or 4 smaller meals daily if possible. He can be a counter-surfer due to his size. He is kennel/crate-trained but likes a treat incentive to go in. He sleeps in his kennel at night but likely would love to sleep with his people. He seems to like everyone and has been good with all the dogs he has met; the shelter he was in used him as a “dog test” dog to determine if other dogs were dog friendly or not. He has been to a dog park and was sociable with the dogs there but was not interested in playing with them. His only fault, probably because he was a stray and often went without food, is that he will tend to guard his food around other dogs (not with people). He does best with a slow-feeder bowl. So he would do best as an only dog in the home. Because of this behavior, he might not be a match with cats. His curious nature and desire to please his people will make him a wonderful companion to the right family. Cash has been in boarding for a couple weeks. He is such a wonderful dog that he deserves to find a family, and is neutered and vaccinated. While fostering, Second Chance can provide food and supplies (if needed) and cover medical costs. An adopter would have the first opportunity to adopt Cash. If you have questions, or can offer to foster, call 651-771-5662. PS - I met Cash at the boarding facility - if I didn't already have 3 dogs and a cat, he would have come home with me !!
