Meet Theo – a big, sweetheart of a dog. Theo came into our program as an unclaimed stray from an overcrowded shelter. This good-looking dog is thought to be a snow lab – Pyrenees mix and is approximately 3 years of age. He weighs 75# but is still a little thin and is probably going to be about 85 # when he fills out completely. His coat isn't near as thick as a pure bred Pyrenees. Theo is a pretty easy going guy, but has had several transitions in his young life, so does need time to adjust and settle in to new environments. He is fully house trained for a full workday, walks well on a leash and rides nicely in the car. Although Theo is allowed up on the furniture in the foster home, he chooses to lay (and sleep) on the floor. Theo is currently in a foster home that has a fully fenced yard, he is respectful of the 4-foot fence and would love to have a fenced yard to wander around and play in. There is one other large dog in his foster home, and they get along well together. Theo does seem to be intrigued by some small dogs (in a good way, but does bark excitedly). Theo has made trips to the dog park and seems to enjoy this but does not seem to require another dog in the home to be content. He can be a little shy in new situations, when meeting people for the first time, and where there’s a lot of activity until he’s settled and comfortable. Once he’s had an opportunity to settle in, he’s happy to get pets and snuggles. Theo is currently in an adult only foster home, so we don’t know how he is with children, but given his size and potential to inadvertently bump into a small child or individual unsteady on their feet – we recommend a quiet adult home, calm older teenagers may be OK. Theo is very gentle taking treats and enjoys chewing on rawhides but does not seem interested in toys or balls. Barks appropriately. We have no knowledge of him around cats. He does seem to shed but does seem to enjoy getting brushed. Theo is a pretty easy going guy, he does need time to adjust to new environments and having a forever family that is familiar with how to help him do this and is familiar with the Pyrenees breed is important. Theo would likely enjoy attending obedience classes with his forever family – which is a wonderful way for him to bond with his family, as well as to continue working on the commands he’s already familiar with, which include sit, stay, and off. Theo is up to date on his rabies and distemper vaccinations, heart worm tested negative and his microchip is registered to Second Chance. Theo’s adoption fee is $ 375. They are good with other dogs and kids, cats are unknown, and birds are a NO!!  (Eats Chickens!)  All dogs and puppies require supervision and training.  Meet Contessa (Tessa)! Tessa arrived 4/2 from Texas with her presumed brother, Sniper. She is a petite gal who is ready for your heart! She’s timid at first, but warms up quickly once she's tested out your love. She is an absolute sweetheart and would love to shadow you all day. She’s a curious gal, loves to run around the backyard, and is loving life in MN cause she LOVES to roll around in the snow. She is a young pup so she has a bit of energy to run off, but also likes to nap! She just figured out how to play with toys and loves the stuffies! She takes treats gently and will lay next to you on the couch - especially if there are blankets for her to nest in. Tessa will do best in a household with another dog so she can play and learn the ropes! She is spayed and doing well with house training. She is good with other dogs, cats (curious and will redirect if necessary), but news from Texas was that she isnt a good guardian for chickens. A tall fence is a must for this girl, and she would probably be best with kids a little older as sudden movements startle her. Hazel is a 5-year-old Great Pyrenees/Australian Shepherd mix. We are looking for a country home for her to live her best life. She is a typical Pyrenees who likes to spend her day patrolling the property and will do best in a rural home. She would love to spend most of her day outside, but she doesn’t live outside. Hazel is a sweet dog who wants to be your outdoor sidekick. She likes car rides, hiking and swimming and playing in the snow. Her energy level is medium, but she does love to run around and then have a long nap. Hazel is dog selective on leash, so we generally avoid dogs we don’t know. She is fine with other dogs off leash, but does not like other dogs in her yard or home. She will do best in a family with older kids. She lived with teens who had friends in an out of the house all the time. She has never lived with young kids.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Kyras 55lbs great pyrenee s  MIX. She is a very happy, loving, wiggle pup. she really loves a good snuggle and belly rub. She likes to be my shadow, and be around her humans. She can be cautious of some new people but warms up quickly. She is not kenneled and does very well when left alone for a couple hours, she did have a temp foster who had kenneled her at night and when gone and she adjusted quickly. she loves hanging and playing with resident dogs. enjoys learning, and playing with her toys. She is potty trained on a schedule. She loves the outdoors, and is really enjoying the snow.  She enjoys walks on a leash where she can see and smell everything going on in her new surroundings. She is also learning how to shake, with praise as her reward. Kyra has made friends with our neighbor's Cockapoo and seems to do well with both larger and smaller dogs.   She'd love to meet you!    Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Olaf, The Great Pyrenees: He's a big, white, fluffy two year old who wants endless pets and unconditional love. He was found by a kind citizen that brought him into the rescue. After they looked him over it was clear that he was neglected: severely underweight and could barely walk. We didn't hesitate to help. We opened up our home to him where he is deeply loved and cared for. After a visit with the vet it turns out he was born with a neurological disorder where he is unable to support himself correctly. He still walks and runs fine but with more of a "hopping" motion. He tends to slip here and there on the hardwood floors so he prefers carpet or a nice big rug to help with his traction. Unfortunately he is still too weak to climb up and down the stairs. He LOVES kids and other dogs, (has not been around any cats yet) he is fully potty trained, sleeps on his dog bed all night, and you can expect a big wet kiss in the morning for your alarm clock.  He loves his toys, rolling around in the snow, and taking naps  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue.
