Top of the mornin' to ya! It's me Mullen, the most pleasant lad you'll ever meet! You don't hear about many Irish Siberian Huskies now do ya? But, here I am! With my ginger-red coat I am the talk of the town, however, I can only be adopted in my town because I am kind of an anxious kind of fellow. I love other dogs and must be adopted with another calm/confident dog please. My new owners need to be patient and great at building confidence in me, as I never was loved on as a pup so I am still nervous with new people and in new situations. However, I am very smart and learn quickly!! Some basic information about Mullen; he is male, Siberian Husky mix, and expected to be medium-sized (20-59lbs). Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Spike is a "manly" kind of name, right?? I am a guy, so I must be "strong like bull" :) Actually I am kind of a goofball. Smart and silly, playful and happy- just grateful to be alive!! I was saved from a high high kill shelter in W Texas and have been here getting my heartworms treated and having friends and an actual life... but now my goal is to have an actual FAMILY too!! I am good with other dogs, although I am a dominant boy, so I need either to be an only dog or to have a submissive friend to hang with. I am a husky to all that goes along with that breed applies, I am active, I need a husky knowledgeable family cause we are escape artists and shed A LOT!! I would love to get out of HOT-TEXAS and AC is my friend but cooler weather would be AMAZING!! Adopt me soon, I am ready!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)

Story
Meet Avi! He is the true meaning of rescue. Avi used to live with an abusive owner, until we changed his path! He has come so far, and has been clicker trained, but is still healing and will need a patient adopter who is willing to continue his training. He is about 9 years old and weighs around 55 lbs. He loves everyone he meets, but is not good with children or cats, and doesn't understand why they move so fast. He is slow to trust, but very playful and affectionate once he knows he is safe. Avi will jump a fence that is smaller than 6 ft tall, and will need long daily walks. He currently lives with and loves his boxer bulldog mix foster brother, but knows he is the pretty one! A home with another playful husky or other dog similar in size would be ideal! HUSKY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. CANNOT BE PLACED WITH CHILDREN OR CATS. If you want to be a part of Avi's recovery and future, and are willing to invest in long term training, apply for him today! His adoption fee is $25. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LOUC/Dog All of our animals come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Meet Sophie! 2 year old Husky mix, spay female, 51lbs Meet Tuppi ❤️ Bully mix, born 3/20/23, spay female, 34lbs Since we have now had the chance to get to know Sophie, I can share what we have learned about her so far! She is a 2-3yr old Siberian Husky, we believe purebred, but we cannot be sure so we listed her as a mix. She is house and crate trained and knows a few extra things, such as, sit, shake and speak. She gets along with all the dogs in her foster home, they range from 6lbs – 75lbs. She isn’t what I would consider a submissive girl, she likes for everyone to follow her rules. A quick reminder that she isn’t the boss usually brings her back down to reality. She is your typical vocal husky, so make sure you are prepared for all the talking she will surely be doing. She also l.o.v.e.s car rides, she doesn’t care where you are going, she just wants to go along. She likes to be with her people and will make a fuss if she isn’t included in your activities. Sophie is one fun dog to be around, I know her family will soon see that as well! Sophie is current on vaccinations, heart worm tested, microchipped, and spay. We are accepting applications at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SHPA/Dog

Story
When Kodiak came to his foster home he was very overweight at 105lbs - much more than his frame could comfortably support. He hated walking and foster mom had to bribe him back home with treats after he was too tired from 10 minutes of trying. Fast forward to today, he is about 20 lbs lighter and loves to run and play with foster puppies and other dogs in the yard. He loves to go for walks and easily and regularly can walk for an hour.    Kodiak came to his foster home used to using his size and growls to get his way. He has worked SO HARD and learned SO MUCH in his foster home including: humans are in charge and he doesn’t need to be the leader, sit and wait to be released for meals, how to relax and stay in place, that furniture is invitation only, completely re-crate trained to learn crate is a safe space not punishment, and that he can share his toys with humans and he will get them back!   All of this progress took lots of time and patience with foster mom to build trust. Kodiak has a breed expected stubborn streak and is incredibly smart. His new adopter will need to be patient and earn his trust and set the tone with boundaries and respect.    As part of his wellness transformation, Kodiak was started on an antidepressant (Fluoxetine) and is an incredibly happier dog on them, and we encourage that his adopter keeps him on this medication. Kodiak also has an allergy, unknown if it is food or environmental. Kodiak is currently well managed with a single protein dog food and an allergy medication (Apoquel). His adopters may consider allergy testing to more specifically identify the allergen.    Kodiak loves people and doesn’t know a human stranger. Kodiak is GREAT with other dogs. His foster mom calls him the foster dog ambassador. He is good with big, small, young, and old dogs. He reads body language very well and matches his play style to the other dog and is very patient with rude and rough play from other dogs. Kodiak does resource guard his toys, bones, and food to other dogs. Kodiak would likely do ok living with another dog who is submissive and not very interested in toys (with supervision!) or with an owner experienced with resource guarding behaviors. He would be ideal for someone who only wants one dog in the home and wants a dog who can go for walks in public places with other dogs around or have toy free playdates with other dogs. He loves to go for walks at Smale park and hang out with foster mom at breweries!   Kodiak has made incredible strides in his foster home and is looking for his best fit family who will continue to support his progress. He has had a few meet and greets but is waiting for his perfect forever family to find him!   When Kodiak came to his foster home he was very overweight at 105lbs - much more than his frame could comfortably support. Story
*hair blowing in the wind (even though she's indoors)* *unexplained sparkles in the air* *faint heavenly music* Yes, she is me. Chloe. Now that you are blinded by my beauty, let me explain why I am the absolute best girl on the inside too and so deserving of your (and everyone's) undivided adoration. I'm loyal, smart as a whip, and FUN, just to name a few. Unfortunately, I didn't come from the most glamorous beginnings. I was an outdoor doggy with not much interaction from birth and my family also left me behind when they moved. Thus, I wasn't really brought up interacting with you humans or being touched/handled. I've had my quirks while adjusting to being a family dog and will definitely need someone patient and understanding with me. (If you get too touchy right away, I don't like that and will try to protect myself.) However, if you are slow and gain my trust I will HANG on your every move. I have adjusted very quickly in the past with proper introductions to people. Even still, I would probably do best in a home without young children. I'm a lady after all and need time to sniff you out before you get grabby. I am an active girl and love to feel the wind in my hair outdoors too. I run with the speed of light and have a prey drive to sniff out bugs, lizards and more. I also love to play tug of war and fetch with my foster mommy inside. I bounce, bounce, bounce all the time! I am great on leash so walks and hikes would be great for me. Getting my energy out will help me focus on training too. I am very smart and learn quickly, but tend to lose interest if I'm still chock full of go, go, go!! With all of this perfection, all of your pet needs should be fulfilled, right? RIGHT? I hope so because I would do great as an only pet in the home. I have been able to co-exist with dogs at the rescue but I am a bit of a diva in my foster home. I have a domineering personality sometimes and will even mark like a male when I come across another dog's scent in my house. How dare they??? Existing? HERE? (She is otherwise house trained.) Considering that you and I know each other a little better now, you may pet me. Yes, I am very soft, I know. Please keep in mind that I am a Chow/shepherd mix and have hair that will require brushing, maybe even the occasional spa treatment, Swedish massage, 24k gold facials...yeahhhhhhhhhh.... Sorry! I forgot you were here. In all seriousness, once I trust you, I will allow you to brush me out without much fuss. It doesn't need to be daily but I am a rough and tumble kinda gal and can use help keeping my locks flowing and free. I also shed so if I seem to be losing my girlish figure, it's probably just extra hair that needs to be brushed off. I hope you have a strong vacuum. ;) I could go on for days about myself, but I'll stop here. Don't wanna overwhelm you. If you think you are up for the challenge of a total spitfire like me, please feel free to send in an application and foster mommy can tell you more about all of the grandeur that is...CHLOE. Story
Haku means "pure" in Japanese! I was named for my pure, passionate and overwhelming love for everyone around me! I came to the rescue when my dad was stationed in Japan and heartbroken that he couldn't take me with him. I've missed him so much ever since! Everyday I do the things I did with him with other dogs so I can try and remember what it felt like to be with him! But it's just not the same. So, I'm hoping a new family can come scoop me up and show me what it feels like to be a part of a home and family again! I am good with other dogs, I love playing chase with them or tugging on chew toys. I'll need a happy and active home so that my life will be full of love and fun! I am a bit anxious and nervous around new people, and people in general! Slow introductions, a safe space I can retreat to like a crate and not forcing me into spaces with tons of people will help me be myself all the time! Haku can only be adopted in the local or TX area. Local adoption only, in San Antonio or TX area, $200.
