Meet Bandit: Pending Foster/Adoption! Bandit is a 10-year-old female husky ready to find her forever home. (She is already spayed and microchipped and will be getting updated vaccinations soon.) Bandit is very much a scent pup. She can smell the moles in the yard and tries to dig them out. So far we would say that is about the only not awesome thing we can say about her. We'd love to see her in a foster-to-adopt home ASAP. Bandit came into the shelter with Gotham, a 7-year-old male Dalmatian (microchipped but needing neuter and vaccinations, which we'll get done for him soon!) FOSTER NEEDED for both! Our shelter is full and we can't take in any additional dogs, and our regular foster homes are full, too. We'd love to see Gotham in a home with someone familiar with the breed who would help us continue getting him to a healthy weight so he can live a long happy lifetime. Both of these dogs truly enjoy playing in the giant yard, and just enjoy life as it comes. They are KID AND CAT FRIENDLY, which makes them an even bigger catch! The Fort Leavenworth Stray Facility is open 11-4 MWF, but we recommend calling to make sure someone is there before visiting, especially if coming from off post. If you have a thing for Panda's, then he is your guy. He is fluffy, cuddly, and full of energy. There is never a dull moment with Aero. We do recommend him being the only panda in your home, due to his rambunctious play drive that can be a lot for another animal, but he has made a few doggy friends during his time with us!

🐾 Meet Diamond! This beautiful girl was found roaming around Diamond Parkway — and that’s how she got her name! Diamond might look tough, but underneath that gorgeous coat is a gentle, shy soul who’s learning that people can be pretty great. 💕 Animal Control Officer Lance and two other officers worked together to bring Diamond safely to the shelter, where she’s now getting the love and care she deserves. The staff believe she’s a unique Rottweiler and Husky mix — strong, smart, and absolutely stunning! Diamond came to us a little thin and without a microchip, but she’s in good spirits and will be getting a full checkup soon. Once she’s all cleared and ready, she’ll be available for adoption starting November 14, 2025. Diamond would love a family who will give her patience, structure, and plenty of love as she continues to build confidence. If you’re looking for a loyal, one-of-a-kind companion, Diamond just might be your perfect match. 🏡❤️

Calling all Husky lovers! Meet Bennie, the calmest Husky mix you’ll ever meet — seriously, this boy is quiet in all the best ways! Bennie came to us as a transfer from Cameron Animal Control, and he has been a total sweetheart since the moment he arrived. He does wonderfully with pretty much every dog, even the shy or nervous ones. Cats are still a bit of a question mark, but he’s not shown anything that rules it out! At around 2 years old, Bennie has already been through more than most pups his age. He originally came from a Suburban (yes, the vehicle). The people claimed they found him wandering but the details are a little uncertain. If you're looking for a loving, energetic , family-friendly adventure buddy with a Husky heart, Bennie is your boy. Come meet him and let him steal yours!

Story

El Lobo was adopted in May 2022 from Lawrence Humane Society. He was a few months old at the time. He does not like kennels but he loves off leash parks and will constantly make sure you're keeping up with him. He is a great big brother to his little shepsky sister and feels great responsibility to make sure she is behaving well. He is supremely friendly and is not afraid to make new friends. No type or number will stop him from saying hello. He enjoys being able to go outside at will in order to run and be chased. If he feels like his little sister is about to escape, he will ask for help. If she gets out, he will go after her and make sure she's fine. Lobo wants time from his humans more than any food or toy. He is persistent in getting your attention and will happily do what you want him to.
