Story
El Lobo was adopted in May 2022 from Lawrence Humane Society. He was a few months old at the time. He does not like kennels but he loves off leash parks and will constantly make sure you're keeping up with him. He is a great big brother to his little shepsky sister and feels great responsibility to make sure she is behaving well. He is supremely friendly and is not afraid to make new friends. No type or number will stop him from saying hello. He enjoys being able to go outside at will in order to run and be chased. If he feels like his little sister is about to escape, he will ask for help. If she gets out, he will go after her and make sure she's fine. Lobo wants time from his humans more than any food or toy. He is persistent in getting your attention and will happily do what you want him to.

Story
We are a matched based adoption agency, if you see a dog in our program in which you are interested in adopting, please fill out our online application at kcpaws.org and one of our adoptions counselors will be in touch once your application has been screened. Please note that we do require dogs to meet all members of the family including existing pets in the home before finalizing during your in home adoption. Katmai is heartworm positive and looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home! She is 2 years old, spayed, 44 pounds, and up to date on all other vetting. Despite her past, Katmai is the sweetest girl on the planet that is full of love! Katmai was found living outside with her 6 puppies on the coldest day of the year! There were multiple reports saying she had been in the area for a while and that the 6 puppies were not her first litter. We quickly jumped to action to get them safe and warm and on their journey to furever homes. The puppies got all their required vetting and went off to their happily ever afters, but poor, sweet Katmai still has another obstacle to overcome in her heartworm treatment. Treating heartworms is a lengthy and expensive process and we are committed to helping her get rid of them! However, she would recover much faster in a home environment rather than our facility. She is sad and stressed in the shelter as she's not used to being cooped up around lots of other animals. She would love nothing more than to have a human to snuggle and adventure with. If you can find it in your heart to help this girl, please fill out an application at kcpaws.org!

Pet Location: Wayside’s Canine Behavior Center – I`d love to show off all the cool things I’ve learned at Wayside! Please arrive at the shelter before 4pm on our open adoption days to meet me! My Friends at Wayside say: -I am enrolled in LIFT University. This is a program for dogs to build confidence in new situations and work on managing energy. My adoption comes with a free 30-minute private training session. -I am a graduate of Waifs with Wisdom. In this program, I learned basic commands and leash walking skills. My adoption comes with a free 30-minute private training session. -My previous owner said that I am house-trained.-Chews, Kong-like feeders, puzzle toys—help to keep me entertained!- I am eligible for a Slumber Pawty, a 7-10 day in-home trial period. Please visit our website for additional information. My home needs are: -I need a home with kids 6 years old and older who will enjoy my enthusiasm for life!-Wayside requires bringing the whole family out to meet me before adoption - new people can make me a little nervous.- Cats are much too interesting to me, so my home will need to be cat free.-No apartments or shared living spaces for me, please! I like to use my voice when I am excited-I have a lot of energy and need an active adopter.- Wayside recommends researching my breed before adopting!-I must meet other dogs in the home before adoption to ensure that we can be buddies. I’m a 1-year-old Alaskan Husky with a love for adventure, toys, and brain games. I can be a little aloof when meeting new people, so I’ll need some time and patience to warm up. But once I know you’re part of my circle, you’ll see my fun, affectionate, and playful side shine. I love exploring new places, playing with my favorite toys, and romping around with my doggie friends. I also find a lot of comfort in my toys and the people I trust.I’m a smart girl who enjoys keeping her brain busy, whether that’s learning new things through training, solving enrichment puzzles, or staying engaged in an active home. I’m housetrained too, but like any pup settling into a new place, I’ll need some time to adjust. So I ask that you’re patient with me as I take my time to get used to my new environment. Because I have
