Story
Sasha was being taken care of for a while from me and my family due to an older couple that had her that could no longer keep her. It was only supposed to be a temporary stay and was not able to find her new home due to not able to have large dogs Landlord does not allow big dogs but other than that she is a very sweet girl loves kids loves to play with other dogs. Loves to have a backyard to run around. Shes very calm and chill I have came across and noticing that she is chewing on her left back paw that I cant afford to cure or take her to the vet. Try to cure at home, but seems to not get better due to her. Keep chewing on her old scabs. I hope someone can give her the home and the caring that she needs and that can afford to take her to the vet. Please be her angel.

Story
To say that Hanna adores human attention would be an understatement. This fluffy pup immediately mellows out whenever she receives affection from anyone – be it strangers, children, or the elderly. But don't be fooled by her antics. The moment it's time to return to her kennel, she unleashes the husky's trademark howl, serenading the shelter with her rendition of the "shelter dog blues." Her vocal prowess echoes throughout the center, leaving no doubt about her desire for companionship. In 2020, Hanna found her home through OHAR, where she lived alongside another dog and children. However, due to unforeseen hardships, her family faced tough decisions and returned her to OHAR. This turn of events has left Hanna heartbroken, yet she remains resilient, determined to find her fairy tale ending once again. Could you be the one to offer Hanna the love and stability she so deserves?Adoption Process: After your application is approved, a home visit is schedule. We will bring the pet to you and help with introductions to your current pet(s). You will then have a week with the pet to ensure they are the right fit for your home. Story
Carissa is stunningly attractive with her tawny coloring and hazel eyes. She’s a real looker! She looks soft and she is! She has a sweet easy-going disposition. Carissa is a three year-old 62 pound Siberian Husky that came to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 1/5 as a stray. When she got out into the yard, she happily romped back-and-forth and even climbed on our play equipment. She would look over the wall indicating she’s alert. However, if you know anything about huskies, you know they love to run and in so doing are known to escape. Carissa will need a tall secure fence. She will also need frequent brushing. She can be vocal. I think she was telling me she was missing her owners. When she was across the yard, I called her. She came running to me. She’s friendly but not overly so. She’s well mannered and doesn’t jump on you. I get the feeling she hasn’t gotten used to a lot of petting. However, she sure could get used to it! She walks very well on a leash. She did her business when she got out into the yard. She needs a yard to explore and play in but would like to “chill” with her new family watching TV in her own bed or on a pile of blankets.

Story
Meet Felix! He is a 10mo old male Alaskan Malamute/Alaskan Husky mix that weighs 57lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 1/5 as a stray. Felix is an incredibly handsome boy. His fur is very soft and silky. It’s clear to see he did have a loving home, yet he has found himself at the shelter for adoption. This loving and playful guy loves to play in the shelter yard, and finding a rope toy would throw it up in the air to entertain himself. He loves to be petted, and will lean in close. He let me give him hugs and kisses, and I got a kiss in return! He is still a puppy with puppy behavior and will jump on you at times. After he runs out his energy he will stretch out on the grass in a regal pose. He is still growing too! He will need to have a secured tall fence, live in a home, not an apartment. A family that is familiar with the Husky/Malamute breed, personality traits and grooming needs is definitely a plus. He didn’t show any interest in the other dogs barking at him, yet we do ask if there is another dog in the home, please ask the shelter for a dog test. Come meet this fantastic guy! You will fall for him, just as we have.

Story
Hi there, my name is Cheyenne! I am a 3-year-old female Husky mix that weighs approx. 45lbs. My sister, Dakota, and I were surrendered to Rockwall Adoption Center when my previous family could no longer care for me. True to my Husky nature, I am full of energy and do not enjoy being left alone for long periods of time. I would do best in a home with plenty of mental stimulation and physical exercise! My adoption fee is $125, I am already spayed, Rabies vaccinated, and DHLPP vaccinated. If you think we might be the perfect match, please submit an adoption application at https://rockwalladoptions.com/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ . I can't wait to see all the fun we could have together!  All animals, unless otherwise noted in their description, are at 1825 Airport Rd. in Rockwall, TX. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 5 pm. For questions, please call 972-771-7750 ext. 2 or email info@RockwallAdoptions.com. IMPORTANT NOTICE: All shelter animals are required by Texas state law to be spayed/neutered. RAC completes this procedure at the age of 12 weeks. If you are adopting a pet under the age of 12 weeks or an animal that has not yet been spayed or neutered, you will be required to return the pet to our facility on the agreed upon date set at the time of adoption. This policy is non-negotiable and violation of this health code is a criminal offense. January 17, 2026, 5:34 pm

Story
Teddy was one of three strays moving about in our neighborhood for a prolonged amount of time. A neighbor of my wife and I decided to help us capture them so they wouldn't be hit on the busy highway road running through town. The other two dogs were homed but we kept Teddy. We are a multi-dog household. For years this has not been an issue but recently Teddy and one of other dogs, Wesker, have been challenging and fixating on one another. They must now be kept separate at all times. Teddy and our others never have any issues and they regularly play and cohabitate with no issues. Teddy likes to be rather independent but still enjoys social time with his human and running with our other dogs. He definitely likes to relax but is always happy to accept attention from his owner! I think Teddy would benefit from having an owner that likes an independent dog that is content to take it easy most of the time but also occasionally wants to run, jump, and play :)
