Story
Meet Theo! He is a very handsome mixed breed, possibly Alaskan Malamute, Siberian Husky, Akita, or maybe some shepherd! Doesn’t matter to us, it is his wonderful personality that is a standout! He is about 6 yrs old, neutered, weighs 80lbs and has been at the shelter since 7/28/2025. Theo walks great on a leash and enjoys taking his time taking in all the smells. When out in the play yard he gets some zoomies, and will bounce about wanting you to play with him. The whole time with a big smile on his face. He loves to be petted, loved on and takes treats gently. He has a thick coat that will definitely need grooming. He is so very patient and enjoys when we brush him, which is often. He is very sweet and affectionate. He doesn’t show any attention to the other dogs barking at him, yet we do always ask if you have another dog in the home, please ask the shelter for a dog test. He dreams of having his own loving family where he can play about in a secured yard, then live indoors where he can enjoy the company of his loved ones. With his thick coat, staying cool and comfy is what Theo deserves. He is a staff and volunteer favorite! Come spend time with Theo!

Story
Elena is a1 yr old, 40 pound spayed Siberian Husky that came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 5/19 as a stray. She is definitely a free spirit that sees her world as her playground. She has a small lean frame. She is spunky, spirited and playful. She would get down on her belly enticing you to play with her. She would do best with an active family that would give her lots of playtime and space to run in a secured yard with a tall fence. She has a beautiful coat and would need frequent brushings. After she’s gotten a chance to get out and stretch, she does like to have her ears scratched. This is a delightful, somewhat goofy young pup. She showed no interest in the other dogs barking at her yet we do ask if you have another dog in the home please be sure to ask the shelter for a dog test. Come spend some time with her.

Story
Say hello to Talia, a Siberian Husky that came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 6/11. This stunningly attractive youngster weighs 40 pounds and is about 1 year old. She has a calm, low-key personality and is a bit timid. Even though she is friendly, she is a somewhat standoffish. I chalk it up to the fact that she is in the shelter and hasn’t quite acclimated. We will keep interacting with her and doubtless her true personality will emerge! In the yard, I noticed that she was eyeing the fence and perhaps wondering where her family was. You can see in her eyes how she hopes her next and final loving family will come meet her soon. Where she has a secured tall, fenced yard to play in, but definitely live indoors and be close to her human companions. Talia is very sweet and would be a wonderful companion for someone that would stay committed to her. Come spend some time with this wonderful girl!

Story
I’ve always found huskies to be attractive dogs, but I think Kona is exceptionally stunning. Besides being bi-eye, having a beautiful coloring and a fluffy tail, his gentle, loving nature make him a real stand out! Kona is a 3 year-old 47 pound mostly white and gray Siberian Husky that came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 6/11 as a stray. Kona appeared to enjoy exploring his environment, but then would come back to me as though he was checking in. He’s observant, active, sweet, gentle, and friendly. He even gives kisses. He’s well mannered. Kona will need a tall secured fenced yard he can run and play in. He will also need frequent brushings. He was very patient when I brushed him. He walks very well on a leash. He did his business in the yard. Its clear he was an inside pup and definitely wants to have that again where he can enjoy his time with his family companions.

Story
Meet Nova! She’s a 1-year-old spayed female Staffordshire Terrier/Chow Chow mix weighing 55 lbs. She arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 1/14 as a stray. Nova is a beautiful girl with an irresistible smile, a loving nature, and an independent streak. She takes a little time to warm up to new people, but once she does, she’ll be your best friend for life. She walks nicely on a leash and loves exploring every corner of the shelter yard. While she can be picky about treats, she takes her favorites gently. She seems to be both housetrained and crate trained, and she’ll need to be the only dog in her future home. Though she hasn’t shown much interest in toys yet, she may discover a favorite once she’s settled in. Nova adores being petted and will happily give hugs in return. A secure yard to play in and a cozy spot indoors with her loved ones is exactly what this sweet girl deserves.
