Story
Norma Sue has a gentle, calm demeanor. If you’re looking for a sweet girl to love and love on then come meet Norma Sue. Norma Sue is a 2 year-old 46 pound Siberian Husky/German Shepherd mix that was brought to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 5/8 as a stray. She chooses to stay close to her humans. She’s very affectionate and likes to have her ears scratched. She sits for treats and takes them gently. She’s well behaved, easy-going, sweet and well mannered. She does not jump on you. She gives kisses. She walks OK on a leash and did her business in the yard. She would probably do best with a laid-back family as that would fit her personality. After she got out and played and exercised, she would like to go in the house to “chill” with her new family. SWEET,SWEET GIRL!

Story
Elena is a1 yr old, 40 pound spayed Siberian Husky that came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 5/19 as a stray. She is definitely a free spirit that sees her world as her playground. She has a small lean frame. She is spunky, spirited and playful. She would get down on her belly enticing you to play with her. She would do best with an active family that would give her lots of playtime and space to run in a secured yard with a tall fence. She has a beautiful coat and would need frequent brushings. After she’s gotten a chance to get out and stretch, she does like to have her ears scratched. This is a delightful, somewhat goofy young pup. She showed no interest in the other dogs barking at her yet we do ask if you have another dog in the home please be sure to ask the shelter for a dog test. Come spend some time with her.

Story
We got him as a puppy from Nebraska, and he has been part of our family ever since. He is 7 years old, and his birthday is the day after Christmas. He loves pup cups, being around people, and playing whenever he gets the chance. He has a fun, playful personality and truly thinks he is much smaller than he actually is. He is affectionate, goofy, energetic, and loves attention. We are looking for a new home for him because our family is traveling much more now with our kids’ sports schedules, and we no longer have the time he deserves for walks, exercise, and quality time. We want him to go to a loving home where he can get the attention, activity, and companionship he enjoys so much.

Story
I rescued scout in March of 2017, and she had been the love of my life ever since. She has been through everything with me and I have tried my best to give her the best life a dog could ask for. Right now I have some life changes coming my way that will require me to find her a new home, but not just any home. A new family that is patient, loving and understanding as I have been with her, especially as she has gotten older. She is emotionally attached to me and I want her to feel comfortable and welcomed into her new home the same way I made her feel when I rescued her. She is good at adapting to new routines/ work schedules, she loves breakfast/dinner time and knows what time she gets fed, Scout gets the zoomies when I come home from work, because that means she gets to go outside and run around and play. Scout does get along with other dogs but she does prefer to stay in a calm peaceful environment, she’s not much of a barker either. She loves having a companion around.

Story
Meet Nova! She’s a 1-year-old spayed female Staffordshire Terrier/Chow Chow mix weighing 55 lbs. She arrived at the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 1/14 as a stray. Nova is a beautiful girl with an irresistible smile, a loving nature, and an independent streak. She takes a little time to warm up to new people, but once she does, she’ll be your best friend for life. She walks nicely on a leash and loves exploring every corner of the shelter yard. While she can be picky about treats, she takes her favorites gently. She seems to be both housetrained and crate trained, and she’ll need to be the only dog in her future home. Though she hasn’t shown much interest in toys yet, she may discover a favorite once she’s settled in. Nova adores being petted and will happily give hugs in return. A secure yard to play in and a cozy spot indoors with her loved ones is exactly what this sweet girl deserves.
