He is about 3 years old. Skylar had been injured during his time on the streets and had TPLO surgery on his leg last year. He has since recovered nicely. He absolutely loves to run and play! He likes to try to be in charge, but takes correction well. He loves to play with other dogs and get out his energy. He gets nervous with quick movements and takes a minute to adjust to new people and situations. With a little patience and plenty of treats he will warm right up and ask for pets. Once he is comfortable, he loves pets, giving kisses, and cuddling! He will even gently reach over and pull your hand back with his paw if you stop petting him before he is ready.  Skylar finished his training on basic obedience commands and socialization and is ready for a foster or forever home! Story
Shorty is a 3â€Âׂ-year-old Siberian Husky with a story of resilience and quiet strength. Weighing about 55 pounds, he is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and has completed treatment for heartworms. For nearly two years, Shorty survived alongside a small pack of dogs at a local Walmart—each of them now safe and adopted. Now it’s his turn to find a place to call home. Unlike the typical husky, Shorty is more reserved and low-key. He isn’t especially vocal or high-energy, and he tends to be shy in new environments. But give him time, patience, and a few treats, and you’ll see his gentle personality begin to shine. He forms bonds slowly, but meaningfully, and will thrive with someone who understands that trust is built over time. Shorty is looking for a husky-savvy, experienced adopter who can provide a calm, stable environment. Life on the streets left him with both physical and emotional scars. He has healed from multiple serious injuries, including fractures in his front left leg, back left leg, and C7 spine, likely from high-impact trauma, as well as a gunshot wound to his front left leg. Because of this, he will need pain medication as needed for the rest of his life. Despite everything he’s been through, Shorty remains incredibly gentle. He is dog-friendly and enjoys the company of other dogs, though true to his breed, he would prefer a cat-free home. He is also leash trained, potty trained, and crate trained—ready to settle into a routine with the right person. Shorty’s journey hasn’t been easy, but he’s ready for a fresh start. With patience, understanding, and love, he will be a deeply loyal and rewarding companion. This pet is participating in the Dallas Pets Alive rehoming program. All of the medical, behavioral and other information about this pet was provided by the pet’s owner. Dallas Pets Alive encourages all adopters to verify the information prior to adoption. Please note that Dallas Pets Alive (DPA) is acting as intermediary to connect prospective adopters with individuals wanting to rehome their pets. DPA is not liable for any information provided about this pet and the adoption transaction is purely between the pet owners and adopter. DPA is not responsible for any damages, injuries, or adoption returns as a result of any adoption transaction. DPA! is not responsible or liable for any animals involved in its New Digs program. Story
Sammie is a Husky who is about a year old and 65 pounds. He just showed up in someone's garage during a rainstorm. Efforts to find an owner failed, so he is now in our Program and looking for a great home. Sammie has been wormed, fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He is receiving monthly heartworm prevention, too. He is incredibly sweet, but loves his playtime, too! Sammie is crate-trained, and uses the dog door to go outside to 'do his business!' He plays well with the resident dog in the home, and is surprisingly cuddly! His foster home doesn't have any cats, so we don't know how he is around felines. If you would like to adopt this ray of sunshine, please go to our website: www.BaytownHumaneSociety.org , and complete the online pet adoption application you will find near his photos. https://www.baytownhumanesociety.org/available-animals/sammie We can be reached by email at: baccr1@aol.com or text us at: 832.414.3729 Please offer this beautiful dog a safe and loving home! You can't go wrong with this Sweetheart!!

Story
Ava is a young husky only about 9-months old (she was only 6 months old when we received her a few months ago). We obtained her from a family friend and have been fostering her since March 2026. She is a sweet pup that is very energetic and enjoys going on walks, runs, trips to the dog park, and tummy rubs! She enjoys close connection and affection and has the silly tendency to walk between your legs. She’s also a bit a diva and will communicate with you to let you know how she feels!

Story
Found this dog in Oak Cliff, and it’s pretty clear she came from a good home. She’s well-groomed, spayed, microchipped, and already knows basic commands like sit, stay, and giving paw (yes, singular). I checked the microchip and posted across neighborhood and Facebook groups, but no owner has come forward. Temperament-wise, she’s very easy to live with—calm and relaxed indoors, content to lounge while you work, but still enjoys walks and short bursts of energy outside. She’s been excellent with cats (currently living with five) and has interacted well with other dogs, including larger ones. I can’t keep her permanently, but I’m fostering her until she finds a good home. Full transparency: she’s a bit spoiled and currently prefers canned food. FYI - I'm unsure of her age, but she's seems somewhat young due to behavior

Story
I found Winter in 2021during the winter storm in DFW hence the name! I wasn’t looking to adopt at the time but when I saw her at a petsmart she stole my heart. I took her home that day and since then we’ve had countless adventures together. She’s very sensitive to human emotion. It may seem crazy but I’m convinced she can tell when I’m sad, frustrated, etc. She will come to you and keep you company. My life has become too busy to give her the attention she deserves. I would like to find someone preferably with kids but I’m not set on that. She loves kids and is very playful with them. She is old - when I got her they told me she was around 4 to 5 years old. I’ve had her for 5 so that would put her at around 9 to 10 years old. However she still has ALOT of energy! For a husky/malamute she is very chill around the house. Sleeps a lot but when it’s time to play watch out! You’ll get tired first for sure. She loves being outside but prefers inside.

Story
- Murphy is a Chow Chow, Labrador Retriever, and Golden Retriever mix. He has had a DNA test done. - Murphy is about 2 yrs 8 months old. - Murphy would do well with or without a home that has dogs or kids. He’s been around a ton of both. - Murphy loves all things water. Swimming, fetch in the pool, or running through sprinklers - Murphy does well on walks, can use a doggy door, is potty trained, and crate trained. - Murphy is active, loving, playful, silly, and smart. - Murphy knows how to: sit, stay, spin, place, roll over, paw, and leave it. I would love nothing more than to be able to keep him, but since I can no longer care for him I hope he goes to a family who will spend time with him and take him outside a ton. When he’s not sun bathing in the backyard, he’s a snuggle buddy on the couch!
