Story
Amos got to us after he had to go from the animal shelter to the vet clinic for an amputation. We don’t know why his front left leg was so damaged. We do know that the night of his surgery he managed to rip out all of his stitches and laid his head on the vet tech’s shoulder while getting wrapped for repair surgery the next morning. He is not quite a typical Husky as he’s very laid back. He doesn’t use his voice near as often as most Huskies although he does have a little growl in his conversational voice which isn’t nearly as off-putting as it might sound.Amos has great house manners, does fine on a leash, and would be a perfect go-everywhere boy for his family. He adores his humans and is very loving and outgoing. He is a social boy and meeting new people and animals is easy for him. He’s fine with cats and seems to ignore the livestock kids at his foster home.He is very engaged with his humans and loves to be as close when he doesn’t want to spend time watching the world go by from his perch on the porch. He will often ask to sleep outside but is willing to do what his human feels is best.Amos is fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, and current with flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Story
Meet Phoenix – A Beautiful Soul Looking for Her Forever Home Name: Phoenix Breed: Husky Mix Sex: Female (Spayed) Age: ~4 years (DOB: 02/18/2021) Weight: 60 lbs Microchipped: Yes Vaccinated: Rabies & DHPPC up to date Housebroken: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Phoenix is a striking Husky mix with a playful spirit and a lot of love to give. Rescued from the Forney Animal Shelter on March 30, 2025, she’s been making progress toward overcoming her challenges and is now ready to find the right home to help her thrive. Phoenix does need to be crated when left home alone and prefers to be with people. She has been kept primarily in a crate during the day, and although she’s made slow but steady progress, she’ll need continued patience, structure, and positive reinforcement training. Phoenix is great with children and would do well in a home where someone is around more often than not. A home with experienced, understanding pet parents willing to invest in her confidence and comfort is ideal. What Phoenix Needs: A calm, loving home with consistency Someone with experience or willingness to work through separation anxiety A home where she’s not left alone for long periods A secure space where she feels safe and loved Phoenix is in good health, and is current on heartworm prevention. She received her ProHeart12 shot on 5/29/25. This option is the slow kill method for heartworm treatment which requires no downtime and a re-test (covered by LHS) in a year.  She’s a special dog with a beautiful personality who just needs the right environment to shine. If you’re ready to help Phoenix rise and bloom into the amazing companion she can be, she’s waiting for you! For more information and or to meet with Phoenix, please complete an online application today: Adoption Application - Legacy Humane Society  We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Kai is the sweetest boy! He’ll be 3 in September! We’ve had him since he was 8 weeks old. He’s been wonderful with our adult husky, who’s 10, and wonderful with our sons. We have a 4 year old and 4 month old son, he’s been gentle and loving with both. Unfortunately, two kids and two dogs is just too much for our current living situation. Kai struggles with stairs and so we’ve had to keep him downstairs with our other husky. But he has separation anxiety and wants to be with us, as he should be. We just can’t make it work and won’t be moving out of our townhome any time soon. Which brings me to our next concern that we don’t have a yard for Kai. Walks are enough for our older dog, but Kai needs a yard so he can run. Our current situation isn’t ideal for a young husky, and we want better for Kai. We’re looking for an owner with a yard who can keep Kai close by at night. He’s the sweetest and cuddliest dog. He comes with his collar, leash, travel kennel and bowls.
