Who says your soulmate has to have 2 legs? Hi! My name is Yeti and I will fit just like your old comfortable shoes if you give me a chance. I was super cute as a puppy, but now at age 8 I am the perfect companion. No need to potty train me! I enjoy naps and cuddles and it might take me a little time for me to get used to a new family, but for sure once we get to know each other we will be best friends. I am not fond of cats or small dogs, but get along well with the four legged friends my size. I would do best with older kids in the house.  Please fill an application at https://texashuskyrescue.org/apply-to-adopt/ and let’s be happy together!    April 18, 2024, 12:30 pm

Story
2 year old Jackson is looking for his forever people! Jackson is the cutest little floofball there is! Despite being deaf, Jackson is incredibly smart and it doesn’t slow him down. He’s picking up hand signs and learning from watching his big foster siblings, who he gets along with great! Jackson was diagnosed with Megaesophagus and needs a family that can support him so that he can live out his best life ever! What is Megaesophagus and how is it treated? Megaesophagus is a disorder in which the esophagus dilates and loses its ability to move food to the stomach. This causes the food to accumulate in the esophagus and can lead to regurgitation. Overall treatment involves managing the symptoms to help the food go down to digest. Jackson will need to be fed ALL his meals in a Bailey Chair (second photo) which gets him in an upright position about 45-90 degrees to the floor and will need to remain in the chair for at least 15 minutes after feeding. He already is great at getting in his chair and staying in it to eat! If you feel like you are the perfect fit for Jackson and ready to give him all the support he needs in return for cute cuddles, loads of fun, and cuteness in his very own high chair then visit https://texashuskyrescue.org/apply-to-adopt/ April 18, 2024, 12:30 pm

Dashi has been waiting over *500* days for his forever home!!!! We honestly can’t fathom why. Dashi is a big teddy bear and loves his treats! He gets along with everyone - dogs and people (and kids!). He is a big, bouncy guy who thinks he’s a lap dog. Dashi does need a secure yard/fence as he's got the typical husky escape artist tendencies. He is estimated to be about 3yr old and is a total package! We would love to see him find a family soon. Story
Aurora (Rory) is a 4 year old wooly and is playful, loving, mischievous, snuggly and SMART! She gives the sweetest little kisses, is very quiet in general but when she does get excited and bark, it's the softest little sound that you can't help but smile at. She is in a home with two big husky brothers and despite being a special needs dog, she has established herself as the dominant queen of the pack.   She's trained to sit, wait, shake, down and is fully potty trained with the doggie door.  She has free reign of the house 24 hours a day, but is also crate trained.    She immediately becomes everyone's favorite as soon as they meet her (much to her foster brother's dismay) because she has such a sweet and funny little personality. She loves to lay on your feet or sit snuggled up on the sofa and look at you with her sweet puppy eyes. She's not been exposed to cats so it's unclear if she is cat friendly or not. She's been around children and is unsure of them but is very curious. Rory is a special needs dog with an unnamed neurological condition.  We originally thought she had degenerative myelopathy but her symptoms have been very consistent for the last year.  Thankfully that's marked off the list of what she has.  It's now thought that she might have a lesion on her brain since she's not regressed since entering the program over a year ago.   With her neurological condition, her brain doesn't communicate with her back end which causes her to have less feeling and sensation in her back legs.  This causes her to "knuckle" her back toes (especially her left paw).  This causes her to be wobbly and if she plays too hard, and flings her back end around too much, it becomes difficult for her to walk.  The good news is she feels absolutely no pain, the bad news is you have to force her to stop playing  as her back end can't keep up and she could hurt herself in the process.   She has little bootie type splints to keep her toes up when she goes for walks so her knuckles don't drag and she doesn't develop sores on the tops of her back paws. It is expected that as she gets older, she may eventually need to use a doggie wheelchair (which she has!). With Rory's neurological deficiencies, she needs a very specific type of home and owner that will cater to her needs so she can continue to flourish for years to come. Here are a list of requirements to consider when considering Rory as a forever family member:  Requires a single story home with few to no stairs  Requires 2 medications daily (both low cost) Requires walks daily, without fail to keep her muscles active and strong (rain, shine, snow or heat).  Her neurological issues cause her to be temperature sensitive, she is more wobbly in extreme cold and very uncoordinated in extreme heat (so summer walks have to be early in the morning before the heat of the day)  Requires PT every other week (at minimum).  She's currently receiving PT weekly that includes laser therapy, chiropractic adjustments, and water treadmill - all of these treatments have kept her strong and we believe are largely why she's doing so well a year after entering the program.   Requires brushing several times a week. Since she lays around a lot, she gets matted very quickly and with her baby fine (and ohhhh so soft) wooly coat, she needs brushing regularly.  Rory is a really special dog that deserves her own special forever home that will treat her like the princess she is accustomed to being treated like.  If you are interested in giving this special girl a place in your home, please fill out an adoption application at https://texashuskyrescue.org/apply-to-adopt /April 18, 2024, 12:30 pm

Togo is the happiest guy with typical husky energy. He hasn't met a stranger and loves playing with other dogs. He has been known to dabble in books and magazines that are left out (chew them), but otherwise has great manners. Togo's future home will also need a high and secure fence as he's been known to jump. He would do best in a home with another dog to play with, or as an only dog with lots of socialization. Story
Meet Maya! A spirited 6-year-old Siberian Husky mix hailing from the vibrant city of St. Louis, Missouri. Maya is a charismatic canine with a love for chew toys. Brimming with playful energy, Maya is an enthusiastic participant in family activities and revels in the role of a constant companion! Maya thrives on mental and physical stimulation, making her an ideal companion for an active household. To ensure her happiness, Maya seeks a home that offers a structured environment and a dedicated commitment to a consistent schedule. Remarkably, she has a fondness for her crate, often seeking refuge in it independently. For prospective adopters, Maya would benefit from a family that can invest time in her training, guiding her toward becoming the best version of herself. Her treat motivation serves as an invaluable tool for positive reinforcement during training sessions A fenced-in yard would be an ideal addition to her new home, providing a secure space for her to explore and play freely. Maya's friendly disposition extends to both new people and while she is generally friendly with other dogs, she may exhibit occasional food and toy-guarding tendencies, making it important to understand and address her unique needs. We look forward to connecting Maya with a loving and committed forever home that can provide her with the attention and care she deserves. If you feel that Maya could be the perfect fit for your family, or if you have any inquiries about this lovable Husky mix, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly at adopt@joyfulpets.com!

Story
This is Jasmine. We believe she is a Husky mix and 1year old. Jasmine is incredibly smart, loving and easy to train. She knows basic commands like: sit, lay down, and shake. She is very treat motivated, focused, and eager to please. Jasmine is a very sweet, usually quite docile pup. She loves to roll over and have her belly rubbed. Fully house trained. She has one brown eye and one blue - she is always being complemented on her striking beauty. Jasmine loves going on walks. She does great on car rides and she loves to play fetch. She is not a big barker, but she will alert you if she sees a person near the house. She likes to be active and play, but almost just as much, she loves her sleep! She would make a wonderful companion for just about anyone. She is almost perfect!  Jasmine's foster has two boys (5 & 7) who play with her, hug and love on her, etc. She has been great with two young boys. https://bit.ly/codys_adoption_application. ##1612366##

Story
Teddy was adopted 3 months ago from a local animal shelter. He's a ~4-5 years old Chow Chow/Mix and we think it's a Shepard mix but we aren't sure since he was a stray at the shelter, so we don't have much information on his past. Teddy is a very affectionate and chill dog who loves belly rubs (in general getting pet is his favorite thing along with chicken). He's crate, leash and potty trained. We have never heard him bark at anyone or any other dog when we take him to the dog park, so he's in general very well behaved. We are looking for a loving family that will take him in since he's currently living in an apartment and unfortunately work schedules have changed over the last month making it hard to spend time with him for walks and playtime. We think he will do great around kids since he's very gently and doesn't jump on things or people. He's a male, neutered and shots are up to date. Willing to negotiate the adoption fee if we find a good match for him. :)
