ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:
Meet Suka! 🐾
Suka came to us from a rural Virginia shelter after being surrendered along with many other dogs when a breeder was forced to give up their animals. Despite all the changes in her life, Suka has shown what a sweet, gentle, and loving girl she truly is.
Suka is still a little shy when meeting new people, but she’s gaining confidence every day. Once she trusts you, she’s incredibly affectionate. She now happily comes up to everyone in her foster home for head pets, and if you sit on the floor with her, she’ll reward you with sweet kisses. At bedtime, she’s happiest snuggled up in bed with her person.
She has a playful side too! Suka loves playing with her foster dog siblings and enjoys a good game of tug-of-war. Because she thrives with canine companionship, she’d do best in a home with another friendly, confident dog to help her continue building confidence.
Suka is fully house-trained, crate-trained, and loves using the doggie door. She free-feeds wonderfully, has excellent house manners, and is not a door dasher—she won’t try to bolt through an open door or gate. While she doesn’t know many formal commands yet, she’s eager to please and has been a joy to foster. She has shown absolutely no resource guarding.
She gets along well with cats and has done great with teenagers. She hasn’t been around young children yet, so we’re not sure how she would do with them.
Suka is looking for a patient, loving family who will give her the time she needs to settle in. In return, you’ll gain a loyal companion who loves to cuddle, give kisses, and be part of the family. Could Suka be the missing piece in your home? ❤️🐶
