Story
Flora came from a high kill shelter in TX with her 3 puppies last year before they were all going to be euthanized. Adoptions for big dogs are down and we have had this sweetie for too long looking for her forever home. She is such a sweet girl. She would love another dog to play with in a fenced in yard. Being a husky she would not be happy in an apartment. The foster mum has been a bit generous with food for Flora and we are working on slimming her down a bit. You would not be disappointed with this girl. She would be best suited in a home with bigger children as we believe she was abused by young children when she was living on the streets, throwing things at her. She has never been an issue for any of the adults in our rescue. She was never an issue at the high kill shelter we got her from even with them handling her babies.. If you are interested in this cutie please email us at Doginghamrescue@aol.com so we can send you an application. We are based in the Nashville, TN area and have most of our dogs transported up north. The $350 includes the adoption and transport fee (will have a health certificate too). The transport fee is not refundable if things do not work out.

Story
SOS! Solomon is a wonderful 9 yr old husky boy needing an urgent home with no cats or chickens. He was surrendered for euthanasia for killing chickens. Huskies are notorious for escape artists when they are bored. He is fully vetted and house trained. He is fostered in East TN, but transportation is included in the adoption fee and provided by Rescue Riders LLC. His adoption fee is only the cost of transport. Please let me know if you have any questions. Please email us for the link to the adoption application.

Story
https://foha.org/pet/ohana2023/ Hello there, My name is Ohana, and I'm a timid but loving soul searching for my forever home. Just like Nanni, I can be a little shy when it comes to meeting new people, but I've discovered something truly magical-I come alive when I'm surrounded by other dogs. You see, I've been attending dog play groups, and those furry get-togethers have been a game-changer for me. When I'm in the company of my canine companions, my confidence soars, and my true personality shines through. It's incredible how the presence of other dogs can help me open up and experience the joy of connection. I'm proud to say that I'm the proud father of two precious puppies, Janis and Jerry, who are also seeking their own loving homes. Our journey together has been a rollercoaster, and finding a family that can provide us all with the love and care we deserve would mean the world to me. In order to continue growing and thriving, I believe it would be incredibly beneficial for me to be part of a family that already has a dog. Having a furry sibling would provide me with the support and companionship I need to feel safe and secure. Together, we can navigate the world with wagging tails and an unbreakable bond. While I may start off a bit reserved, with time and patience, I promise to shower my new family with affection, loyalty, and love. I have so much potential just waiting to be discovered, and all I need is a chance to show you the incredible dog I can become. So, if you're looking for a gentle and caring companion who flourishes in the presence of other dogs, I'm your guy. Let's embark on an incredible journey together, filled with moments of growth, love, and endless wagging tails. Together, we can create a harmonious and joyful home that will make every day feel like a walk in the park. Choose me, Ohana, and let's build a bond that will last a lifetime.

Story
https://foha.org/pet/kiara2024/ ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Hi, I’m Kiara — a sweet and curious Husky mix with a soft heart and a love for sniffy adventures. I arrived at FOHA with my sister, Kita, and we’re hoping to find a forever home together. We’re bonded and help each other feel safe, so we’d truly thrive as a duo. I’m the more outgoing of the two and love high-value treats (cheese is my favorite!). I may be shy when we first meet, but with patience and kindness, I warm up and begin to show you my affectionate, playful side. I love exploring on leash, sniffing all the smells, and romping around in playgroups with other friendly dogs. I’d do best in a calm home where I can continue building my confidence with gentle people and a steady routine. Another friendly dog in the home would be a huge plus — and since I already come with a best friend (Kita!), we’ve got that part covered! HOW AM I WITH DOGS: Great! I love other dogs and absolutely adore playgroups. I’m especially bonded to my sister, Kita — we’d be happiest staying together. HOW AM I WITH CATS: Not a good match — I have a high prey drive, so no cats or small animals, please. HOW AM I WITH KIDS: I’ve done well with kids 10 and older who understand how to approach shy dogs calmly and kindly. I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS: I’m still learning! But I’m treat-motivated and curious, which helps. MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: FOHA can provide more details, but I’m tidy, routine-oriented, and make progress quickly in a predictable environment. THINGS I LIKE: Cheese • Quiet walks • Sniffing everything • Playing with my sister • Hanging out with dog friends • Earning your trust THINGS I DISLIKE: Being separated from Kita • Fast movements or loud environments • Cats or small pets FOHA ADOPTION POLICIES AND PROCESS: https://foha.org/pet-adoption/adoption-policies ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: Spay/neuter, vaccines (rabies, distemper & Bordetella), 1-month access to Petcademy for training and behavior support, slip lead leash, 1 bag of starter food, 1-month flea/tick & heartworm preventatives, diagnostic testing, and additional medical care as recommended by our vet. My sister, Kita, is shier than I am- and I help give her confidence. We aren't too happy when we're separated, and we really do well when we're together. We'd do best in a home together forever. We are GREAT in play group, so we'd be happy to join a home with other dogs!

Story
https://foha.org/pet/kita/ Hello there, I'm Kita, a petite and charming Husky Mix ready to steal your heart. Alongside my sister Kiara, I made my way to FOHA, excited for the chance to find my forever family. I may be a bit shy and skittish at first, but underneath it all, I'm as sweet as can be. My compact size makes me the perfect cuddle companion for those cozy couch moments. I'm just waiting for the right family who will give me the patience, time, and space I need to come out of my shell and shine bright. I absolutely adore spending time with my doggy friends, especially my dear sister Kiara. The play yard is where you'll find me running around, enjoying the freedom and camaraderie that comes with it. Oh, and did I mention my love for special treats? Cheese, in particular, holds a special place in my heart. Due to our high prey drive, Kiara and I would do best in a home without small pets (unless they can be kept separate and out of sight). My sister, Kiara ,is brave and helps me with my confidence. We aren't too happy when we're separated, and we really do well when we're together. We'd do best in a home together forever. We are GREAT in play group, so we'd be happy to join a home with other dogs!

Story
https://foha.org/pet/jerry-g/ 🐾 MEET JERRY Gentle husky mix looking for love, safety — and a home with his sister Janis ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Hi, I’m Jerry — a soft, sweet husky mix with a quiet spirit and big brown eyes that reflect my hope for a brighter future. I didn’t have a lot of early exposure to people, so I can be fearful at first, but once I feel safe, I begin to show my playful and loving side. I’m still very young and full of potential. With the help of a confident dog companion and a patient, understanding human, I know I’ll continue to blossom. I’m especially close with my sister Janis — we’re bonded and need to be adopted together. She brings me comfort and courage, and we love to play and relax side-by-side. While I’m not quite ready for obedience training, I’ve been making great strides with crate training and learning to go outside to do my business. I know how to use a dog door and will go out independently once I know the space. Just a heads up: I’m a little rambunctious and have a history of getting into soft toys, so tough toys only for me, please (I’ve needed surgery in the past!). Because of my timid nature, I’m not a good match for homes with children, but I’d do wonderfully in a calm, adult household with a fenced yard and another confident dog. 🐶 HOW AM I WITH DOGS: I adore other dogs and love to play, especially with Janis! I do best with dogs who are kind and not too pushy. I can get a little protective of Janis, so slow introductions are best. Once comfortable, I’m joyful and goofy with my dog friends. 🐱 HOW AM I WITH CATS: No cats, please — I’ve got a strong prey drive. 👶 HOW AM I WITH KIDS: I’d do best in a home without children. Sudden movements and noise are overwhelming for me. 🧠 I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS: I’m still working on confidence and haven’t started formal training yet — but I’m smart, observant, and eager to learn when the time is right. 🏠 MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Crate trained and sleeps soundly overnight. I’m still learning housebreaking and may have accidents while settling into a new routine. I know how to use a dog door and prefer familiar outdoor environments. 💖 THINGS I LOVE: My sister Janis • Playful dog friends • Water play • Quiet spaces • Treats from trusted hands • Safe hidey spots • Exploring the yard 🚫 THINGS I STRUGGLE WITH: Loud noises • Strangers • Soft/stuffed toys (I tend to destroy them!) • Fences under 6 feet — I’m a jumper! 🏡 FOHA ADOPTION POLICIES AND PROCESS: Learn more about adopting Jerry and Janis and what to expect: 🔗 foha.org/pet-adoption/adoption-policies 💸 ADOPTION FEE INCLUDES: Spay/neuter, core vaccines, 1-month Petcademy access (for post-adoption support), slip lead leash, starter food, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, diagnostic testing, and any medical care recommended by our vet. Jerry is bonded with his sister, Janis, and they will thrive in a home together. Jerry’s adoption fee has been generously sponsored by Kim Baggett Real Estate.
