Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3 Web Site: www.aberdeenstr.com ***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thank You for your cooperation*** Please read listings fully to the end before applying for one of our beloved rescues. WE ARE NOT A SHELTER; WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS. Please do not contact us to look at a dog. We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog. We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes around the US and Canada, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Newcastle, WA. Our adoption fee is non-negotiable. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Chase Quick Pay via Zelle, PayPal, or cash. The shelter where Oz came from was asked by Chosun TV, one of Korea’s cable networks, to be a consultant for one of the programs called “Signal: for rescue” for one of its episodes that deal with exposing one of Korea’s illegally established dog meat butchers. Without their consent, though, the TV producers had 10 dogs (one pregnant at the time) rescued from the dog meat butcher resettle at their shelter. Oz is one of the puppies that was born after coming to their shelter. But she wasn’t spayed in time so she got pregnant at the shelter and gave birth to two dogs. Oz was not able to take proper care of either of them, the puppies were eventually taken to a foster home and now both of them live in the States, thanks to American rescues that wanted to take them in. Oz was left alone at the shelter in Korea, but the shelter said they didn’t have the connections or expertise to get these big rescues from the dog meat trade properly publicized for adoption. Oz was supposed to have been placed at a bigger organization in Korea, but the TV producers did not follow up, nor did they take responsibility for the 10 dog’s adoption afterwards. So we gladly said we would help the oh so beautiful Oz who is looking to find that very special home to cherish her as she should be adored. Oz was rescued by the amazing Korean rescue & just as always we are beyond grateful to the Korean rescue & we are so extremely grateful for what they do day in & day out for these babies & there is also such a great financial responsibility when rescuing these babies so we cannot begin to thank them enough. Oz was bought back to the USA where she is now a US citizen & is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find her new loving devoted forever home. Talk about absolutely stunning, Miss Oz is such a beautiful girl. This poor girl was ganged up on in the shelter & had her ear bitten but for everything she has been through she is very forgiving & sweet. Oz has a lovely personality, she is warm, friendly & affectionate & oh my, does she love to eat. Some people at first she maybe nervous & hesitant of until she knows & trusts them, then she is good. She is good with men & woman once she knows them. Did we mention you can pick this beautiful girl up & she will let you carry her? She is doing well walking on her harness & leash but still would need work as she does sometimes stop with some people & not want to walk as she gets a little intimidated. She did end up having a foster home in Korea who worked with her on walks & going for runs & we think she would really enjoy a home who would be active with her. We don’t think she ever received this much love before but she radiates her appreciation with us. We do know she adores dogs, she loves them & she absolutely needs another dog or dogs in the home for her to play with, this is mandatory. Having toys & a warm bed is all new to Oz & we have been excited to change her world with the introduction of toys & lots of love & affection & a loving environment. Oz’s new forever home must have a fully fenced backyard. Oz rides beautifully in the car & loves a good journey, so great in the car. But then she sometimes doesn’t want to get out of the car so we have to carry her out. We are looking for a crate free home for this little lady only. Oz does not like crates & who could blame her. We are also looking for a forever home for Oz where someone is home during the day or she can go with her people wherever possibly she can go with them. Oz is looking for a forever home who will cherish her & love her as she should be loved & be patient with her. Oz has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & she is currently with other dogs & does well. Oz needs to go to a forever home with another dog or dogs in the home, she really enjoys the company of other dogs & we currently have her with other dogs. This is mandatory along with a fully fenced backyard. Oz is roughly 44.6 lbs & has put on so much weight with us & oh my goodness does she love to eat. When we got her, she was skinny & you could see her ribs, those days are long gone. She is 1 year old & 3 months & perhaps a Jindo what she is mixed with we are not sure, female, she is spayed, had a dental/scale & polish, she is microchipped, up to date on her shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, CIV, rabies & dewormed. We have spent far more on Oz with bringing her to the US with her travel costs, her medical, her dental, boarding fees etc & bringing her to WA than her adoption fee covers. Oz has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but in Korea she used to chase the cats so a home with no cats is needed for Oz. But it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have not had her around small children so we do not recommend small children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats. We were not there when Oz was conceived so we do not know who her parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think her breed is. As with all of our rescues & Oz’s friends she will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Oz potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Oz & going through our process and have read her listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit via WebEx due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Oz who understands her needs & that meet all the requirements for this special sweet little lady. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Oz has an adoption fee of $995 & is ready for her truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what she has been through.

Story
Rafa is a 2-year-old female Jindo with a petite 13kg frame. She endured neglect and abuse in Korea, suffering from malnutrition and skin disease. Fortunately, she was rescued and has spent the past year receiving love and care, regaining her health. Despite her difficult past, Rafa remains a bright and affectionate dog with a heart full of love for people. With her elegant and charming appearance, Rafa radiates positive energy with her lively and playful personality. She quickly warms up to new people and enjoys forming close bonds. If you extend your hand slowly, she will naturally lean in for affectionate cuddles. As trust grows, she becomes deeply devoted, forming an unbreakable bond with her owner. Rafa loves people so much that she sometimes jumps up excitedly to give kisses. While adorable, this habit can lead to unintentional accidents. She is currently undergoing body-blocking training to correct her jumping behavior, and she is making steady progress. With patience, training, and understanding, her affectionate nature will strengthen the connection between her and her future family. She is gentle and highly social, getting along well with other dogs and adapting easily to different environments. Being an active dog, she enjoys walks and cherishes time spent with people. Currently staying at a training facility, Rafa rarely barks. However, she signals through sound when she needs to relieve herself or wants human company and she adapts quickly when she has a consistent schedule for outdoor potty breaks. Due to her deep attachment to people, she may experience separation anxiety if left alone for long periods. A home where family members are frequently present would be ideal for her. Despite her small size, Rafa has impressive jumping ability and a curious nature. When playing in an open space, she may try to jump over fences out of curiosity rather than a desire to escape. While she always returns, for her safety, an apartment or condo environment would be more suitable than a house with a yard. Extra supervision is needed in dog parks to prevent her from leaping over fences. She is fascinated by small movements, such as insects or birds, which highlights her lively and spirited personality. Rafa treasures every moment with people, showering them with affection in return for their love. She is a dog who gives back even more love than she receives and is ready to become a lifelong companion. She is waiting for a warm and loving family to call her own.

Story
Somang is a 3-year-old female dog, weighing around 10kg. She is a small, adorable Jindo mix with a heart full of love and affection. Somang has experienced being a mother in the shelter, and although her puppies have found their homes, Somang was sadly at risk of being euthanized. Thankfully, she was rescued and is now living at a training center, waiting for a loving family to call her own. Somang is a deeply affectionate dog who loves people. She has no fear of strangers and is always eager to show love to anyone she meets. She’s especially loyal to her owner and cherishes every moment of attention and affection. Her sweet, playful nature means she’s always ready for a cuddle or a fun time with her family. Somang has a food allergy that causes tear stains, but with the right food, her condition will improve, and she will become even healthier. Somang has a peaceful, calm temperament and gets along well with other dogs. She’s not aggressive and enjoys making friends, playing gently with those she connects with. When it comes to walks, Somang can be a bit curious and excited at first, but with time, she learns to walk calmly by her owner’s side. She loves being with her people and enjoys every moment spent together. Somang also loves to play! She can be a bit cheeky and full of energy, but after a fun playtime, she’ll settle down and rest quietly. Her playful yet calm nature makes her an ideal companion for first-time dog owners. Somang has spent most of her time in shelters and training centers, so she hasn’t had much experience in a home yet. She’s still learning about potty training, and there may be a few accidents in the beginning. However, with a consistent routine and a patient owner, she will quickly adapt. Somang loves to follow her owner everywhere and always wants to be by their side. With enough love and care, she’ll become a loyal, sweet companion for life. Somang is ready to find a warm, loving home. If you’re looking for a loving and playful friend to share your life with, Somang will be the most affectionate and loving dog you could ask for!

Story
🐾 Meet Haerang | Female | 2 Years Old | ~18kg | Jindo + Labrador Mix 🐾 Say hello to Haerang, a sweet and smart 2-year-old girl with the perfect blend of Jindo loyalty and Labrador friendliness. Weighing around 18kg, she’s a healthy and well-proportioned pup ready to find her forever home. Haerang is a social butterfly who loves people and gets along well with other dogs. Though she was once sensitive about having her paws touched or held—likely due to past skin issues—she’s made tremendous progress through consistent training and care at our training facility. These days, she’s learning to enjoy gentle touch and human affection, and she's opening up more each day. She’s a quick learner who already knows basic commands like “sit,” and she’s very food-motivated, making her a joy to train. With her playful spirit and affectionate nature, she brings smiles and warmth wherever she goes. Haerang is calm and composed around strangers and walks beautifully on a leash—no pulling at all! While she’s still discovering the world due to limited socialization in her early life, she’s curious, eager to learn, and ready to grow in a loving home. With patience and kindness, Haerang will blossom into a well-mannered, devoted companion. If you're looking for a dog who will fill your days with joy, cuddles, and companionship, Haerang might just be your perfect match. 🏡 Haerang is waiting to meet her forever family. Could that be you?

Story
Yuel is a 1-year 6-month-old female Samoyed-Jindo mix, weighing 15 kg. At just six months old, Yuel was placed on the euthanasia list at a city shelter along with her sibling, Samuel. Thankfully, they were both rescued, and she is now staying at our training center, slowly regaining her trust in people and desperately hoping to start a new life with her forever family. Yuel’s personality is very gentle and non-aggressive. However, due to her traumatic past, she tends to be wary of strangers and takes time to warm up to new people. When she first arrived at our training center, she was very shy, but after a few days, she gradually opened up and revealed her naturally sweet and affectionate personality. Because she does not easily approach unfamiliar people and will require ample time and patience to adjust, extra care should be taken during walks to prevent any escape attempts, and household entryways should be securely managed until she fully bonds with her new family. Like a typical Jindo mix, Yuel has an independent streak. However, she also strongly exhibits the Samoyed’s affectionate nature and responsiveness to human connection. Once she builds trust, she expresses deep affection. Yuel gets along well with other dogs and has formed a particularly strong bond with her sibling, Samuel. Since they have spent so much time together, she may experience separation anxiety if they are apart, and this should be considered when adopting. She currently goes outside for bathroom breaks three times a day and enjoys running freely with her canine friends in the exercise yard. However, during the adjustment period in a new home, occasional accidents may occur. Once she settles in, she should quickly adapt to an outdoor potty routine again. It is recommended to start taking her on walks only after she has bonded with her new family. Due to her Jindo mix heritage, she has a strong homing instinct. If she is suddenly taken far away or travels by plane, she may become confused and instinctively try to find her way back home. To prevent this, walks should only begin after she fully recognizes her adopter as family. Even then, a double leash or harness is essential for safety. Yuel still carries emotional scars from her traumatic past and may be shy and cautious at first. However, for those that are willing to endure that initial period and patiently wait for her trust, Yuel will become the most loyal and loving lifelong companion.
