Story
Meet Aiden, rescued from Korea and a young Jindo pup.  Aiden is a good boy but he is worried at first about meeting new people. He did not have a great start in life and as a result he can be unsure of himself. He is in a wonderful foster home where he is patiently guided to become a little more confident. Aiden will do best with other dogs who are social and confident so that he can learn from their example. He is not suitable for a home with kids or cats.   Aiden is young and has a full life ahead of him. We hope to find him a dedicated person who is willing to continue working with him so that he can live his best life.  Aiden is vaccinated, chipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $395. We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! Meet Pearl — A Sweet & Social Jindo Mix Looking for Her Forever Family!   Name: Pearl Age: 9 months Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Jindo Mix Color: Brown Weight: 21 kg Height: 56 cm (shoulder height)   Personality with People   Pearl is a very affectionate and friendly girl who happily approaches both familiar people and strangers. She loves leaning in for pets and allows handling easily. With people she knows well, she’s a total sweetheart — she may jump up to give kisses and show her playful affection. She does well with children under 13 and is comfortable being gently lifted with an arm under her belly. Once she trusts you, she’ll even show her belly   Socialization with Other Dogs   Pearl enjoys greeting and playing with both familiar and unfamiliar dogs. She does have a timid side — if several dogs (even small ones) rush toward her at once, she may retreat. She can be a little socially unaware at times and may try to initiate play even if the other dog is unsure. With very high-energy dogs, she will clearly communicate when she’s uncomfortable.   Cats   Pearl has not yet been tested with cats, but a cat test can be arranged if needed.   Energy Level   Pearl has a moderate energy level. She enjoys outdoor activities and walks, but once her exercise is done, she settles nicely and relaxes indoors.   ‍ Walking & Leash Skills   She does pull on the leash at times but generally follows her handler well. Pearl loves sniffing and exploring, so walks often involve stopping and starting as she takes in all the scents around her   Other Behaviors & Habits   • No food guarding toward people or dogs, though she is food-motivated and may rush to eat first • Rarely barks — if uncomfortable, she may whine softly instead • Calm and well-behaved in a kennel • Gets in and out of the car on her own • Fully accustomed to outdoor potty routines   Rescue Story   Pearl was rescued with her mother and littermates after her mom entered the Ganghwa Shelter in Incheon and gave birth there. Thanks to rescue support, Pearl has grown up safe and loved — and is now ready for her forever home. Currently in Korea — available for adoption to Canada/US Apply to adopt or foster Pearl: https://adoptmekr.org Please visit our Facebook or Instagram. Pearl is a loving, joyful young dog who will make a wonderful companion for a family ready to grow with her ##2609383##

Story
Name: Crystal Age: 8 months old (Estimated DOB: March 13) Sex: Spayed Female (S. Female) Breed: Jindo Mix Color: Brown Weight: 19 kg Height: 55 cm   Rescue Story: Crystal was born at a city shelter after her mom was admitted.   Personality & Socialization   ‍‍ With People   Crystal is incredibly affectionate. She happily approaches both familiar and unfamiliar people, rubbing her body against them and allowing gentle touches with ease. She fully accepts children under 13 and currently lives in a home with kids.   She’s comfortable being lifted (even with arms placed under her belly), and she warms up instantly to people of all ages and genders. She even shows her belly to strangers and lets people she meets on walks pet her tummy — she is that sweet and trusting!   With Other Dogs   Crystal has a friendly and social nature with dogs of all sizes. She confidently approaches new dogs, politely says hi, and invites them to play. She currently lives with an adult dog much bigger than her and gets along beautifully.   If another dog shows aggression, Crystal simply walks away — she avoids conflict and chooses peace.   With Cats   No direct observation yet, but cat testing can be arranged.   Energy Level   Crystal has a medium energy level. She enjoys outdoor activities, exploring, and playtime, but after that she settles quietly and rests well. Adequate outdoor time makes her happiest.   ‍ Walks   She gets very excited on walks and tends to pull due to curiosity, but she loves people and usually follows well. With consistent practice, she’ll become an excellent walking partner.   Resource Guarding   None observed. She does not guard food against humans or other dogs.   Separation / Home Behavior   Crystal has not been left completely alone — she has always been with another dog when humans were away. Her current separation anxiety is mild, but she may develop anxiety if expected to stay alone, so gradual training is recommended.   She only barks when she wants something, and she whines a bit when placed in a kennel/crate, but usually settles or falls asleep shortly after.   She is currently outdoor potty trained.   Crystal Is Looking for Her Forever Family   Crystal is a sweet, gentle, loving girl with a heart full of affection for people and dogs alike. She’d thrive in a home that can provide: Consistent outdoor time Patient training for solo time A family who loves cuddles and belly rubs Possibly another friendly dog (optional but helpful)   If you’re looking for a warm, social, and gentle Jindo mix puppy, Crystal might be your perfect match. Story
Meet Mimi - VANCOUVER!!! 6 yrs | 13 kg | Jindo mix | Spayed Female |   Rescue Story Mimi came to the Wanju Shelter in July 2024 and gave birth to two puppies, Heokmi and Hyunmi, on August 1. After her puppies were adopted and flown overseas, Mimi was finally rescued herself in March 2025. She underwent leg surgery to correct an old fracture that had healed improperly — her leg bone was realigned and stabilized with a plate. She’s now fully recovered and walks beautifully!   Personality Mimi is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves people — not only familiar faces but also strangers! She enjoys gentle petting, loves treats, and easily forms bonds with anyone who shows her kindness. She’s friendly with both men and women and hasn’t lived with young children before, but given her gentle, people-loving nature, she’s likely to do well with calm, respectful kids. She can be picked up gently (arms under her belly) and often rolls over to show her belly when she’s relaxed and happy.   With Other Dogs Mimi greets other dogs politely but prefers quiet companionship over playtime. She enjoys her alone time and may get annoyed if other dogs bother her when she’s resting. She’s generally friendly toward dogs her size or smaller and sometimes enjoys playful interaction with gentle male dogs. Overall, Mimi prefers people over dogs — she’s happiest just being near her humans.   With Cats Mimi shows curiosity and some excitement around cats. She doesn’t attack or lunge, but if a cat hisses or teases her, she may respond with a quick nip-like motion. For safety, she was separated during testing. She barks or gets excited when she sees cats from a distance, so a home without cats (or with very careful, slow introduction) would be best.   Energy Level Low energy. Mimi loves calm days and cozy naps — a gentle, easygoing companion who thrives in peaceful environments.   ‍ Walking She’s an excellent walker! Mimi has plenty of walking experience, doesn’t pull on the leash, and follows her person beautifully.   Other Notes Mimi loves food and may guard her meal if another dog tries to take it. It’s best to feed her separately from other food-motivated dogs. She’s quiet overall — she may bark during mealtime out of excitement but rarely otherwise. She has no separation anxiety, stays calm in a kennel, and currently prefers outdoor potty breaks.   Mimi is a gentle, loyal soul who’s been through so much yet remains full of love. She’s ready to find her forever home — one that’s calm, patient, and full of warmth.   Apply to foster or adopt at www.adoptmekr.org   Please also visit our Facebook and Instagram. ##2554784##

Story
Meet Bailey   Name: Bailey Age: 4 years Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Jindo Mix Color: Black / Beige Weight: 15.8 kg Height (shoulder): 45 cm     Rescue Story Bailey was found living on a scrap yard, tied to a short 1-meter leash and surviving on food waste alongside several other dogs. Although the owner initially agreed to surrender them, the dogs were sent to a municipal shelter and placed on the euthanasia list.   Bailey was rescued on December 28, 2023, just in time. After staying in boarding care, she has been living in a foster home since October 25, 2024, where she has been learning what it means to be part of a loving home.   ‍‍‍ With People Bailey is affectionate and enjoys being around people. She approaches both familiar faces and strangers, often leaning in for pets and attention. While she may feel a little unsure at first, she still allows handling and quickly warms up.   She tends to feel more comfortable with women and can be slightly cautious around men. Bailey does well with children under 13 and can be gently picked up once she is comfortable.   She has a sweet and thoughtful personality — she often communicates what she wants using her paws rather than barking. She is patient and well-mannered, even during things she doesn’t enjoy (like baths, nail trims, or brushing teeth).   Bailey may not learn things quickly, but she is persistent and always tries her best. She truly enjoys bonding and connecting with her people.   With Other Dogs Bailey greets other dogs politely, but she hasn’t had many opportunities to learn how to play, so she may seem unsure in those situations. With time and positive experiences, she may continue to build confidence. She can feel uncomfortable around larger dogs or those with high energy levels.   If another dog behaves aggressively, she usually chooses to avoid conflict rather than react.   During walks, she may become excited when seeing small white dogs. While she has never shown aggression, she has occasionally displayed a prey-like posture (lowering her head and moving slowly), so introductions are managed carefully. This is believed to be due to limited socialization rather than aggression.   With Cats & Small Animals Bailey may try to chase cats or birds during walks. With proper leash handling and guidance, she responds well and follows her handler.   Energy Level Moderate energy. She enjoys outdoor activities but settles down calmly afterward.   ‍ Walks Bailey is experienced on leash. She may pull slightly at times but generally follows her handler well.   Additional Notes • Not food possessive with people or dogs • Rarely barks • Calm and quiet in a kennel • Can get in and out of the car on her own • Prone to mild motion sickness • Fully outdoor potty trained   Bailey is looking for a patient and understanding home where she can continue to build confidence and feel safe. With her gentle nature and quiet loyalty, she will make a truly devoted companion. Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org  Please also visit our Facebook or Instagram! Story
• Name: Oz • Age: 5 years • Sex: Spayed Female • Breed: Shepherd Jindo Mix • Color: Brown/Black • Weight: 14.5kg Background Oz was rescued from a city shelter in October 2022. Despite her gentle nature, she was overlooked for adoption and spent over two years in a boarding facility. She is now preparing for international adoption and is ready to meet her forever family. ‍‍‍ Socialization – People Oz is incredibly affectionate and people-oriented. She bonds easily not only with familiar faces but also with strangers—often pressing her body against them for pets and cuddles. She loves snuggling and will wedge herself into your arms or lie quietly at your feet if asked to move. She’s a champion cuddler and a true lovebug. Oz is comfortable being picked up (you can slip your arms under her belly), and even new people are often greeted with her rolling over to show her belly. She gets along well with both men and women. She hasn’t shown much interest in young children under 13, but she has not displayed any concerning behavior around them either. Socialization – Dogs When Oz first arrived at the AKR centre in April, she seemed to lack basic social skills with other dogs. While she has made progress and can coexist with some dogs, she still shows selective compatibility. She has previously gotten into scuffles with dominant male dogs or when bumped during mealtime. Because of her strong attachment to humans and her occasional reactivity toward certain dogs, Oz would do best as the only dog in the home. She will thrive in an environment where she can have her humans all to herself. Small Animals Due to her prey drive and reactivity, Oz is not suited for homes with cats or other small animals. Energy Level Oz has a moderate energy level. She enjoys being outdoors and going on walks, but she also knows how to relax and nap after her activities. Walking & Leash Manners Oz is a good walker and generally follows her handler well without pulling. However, she’s more interested in sniffing the world than just walking straight—she may try to guide the route based on smells. Despite that, she remains very responsive to guidance and adjusts easily to her handler’s pace and direction.   Other Behavior Notes • Food: She does not guard food from humans but can be food-possessive around other dogs. Mealtimes should be managed carefully if other dogs are present. • Alone Time: Oz handles alone time well when no one is home, but she may bark to be let out if she sees people around while she’s confined (e.g., in a crate or kennel). • Vocalization: She is not a frequent barker. • Toileting: Currently accustomed to outdoor potty routines. Ideal Home Oz is looking for a loving home where she can be the only pet. She would do best with someone who can appreciate her deep affection, manage her dog selectivity, and offer her a peaceful and structured environment. Oz has so much love to give. She just needs someone willing to open their heart and home to a dog who will never stop being grateful. Let’s get Oz home. Send in your application through our website!  Please also check out her post on our Facebook or Instagram. Currently in Korea — adoptable to Canada & the U.S. ##2480780##
