Meet Pearl — A Sweet & Social Jindo Mix Looking for Her Forever Family!   Name: Pearl Age: 9 months Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Jindo Mix Color: Brown Weight: 21 kg Height: 56 cm (shoulder height)   Personality with People   Pearl is a very affectionate and friendly girl who happily approaches both familiar people and strangers. She loves leaning in for pets and allows handling easily. With people she knows well, she’s a total sweetheart — she may jump up to give kisses and show her playful affection. She does well with children under 13 and is comfortable being gently lifted with an arm under her belly. Once she trusts you, she’ll even show her belly   Socialization with Other Dogs   Pearl enjoys greeting and playing with both familiar and unfamiliar dogs. She does have a timid side — if several dogs (even small ones) rush toward her at once, she may retreat. She can be a little socially unaware at times and may try to initiate play even if the other dog is unsure. With very high-energy dogs, she will clearly communicate when she’s uncomfortable.   Cats   Pearl has not yet been tested with cats, but a cat test can be arranged if needed.   Energy Level   Pearl has a moderate energy level. She enjoys outdoor activities and walks, but once her exercise is done, she settles nicely and relaxes indoors.   ‍ Walking & Leash Skills   She does pull on the leash at times but generally follows her handler well. Pearl loves sniffing and exploring, so walks often involve stopping and starting as she takes in all the scents around her   Other Behaviors & Habits   • No food guarding toward people or dogs, though she is food-motivated and may rush to eat first • Rarely barks — if uncomfortable, she may whine softly instead • Calm and well-behaved in a kennel • Gets in and out of the car on her own • Fully accustomed to outdoor potty routines   Rescue Story   Pearl was rescued with her mother and littermates after her mom entered the Ganghwa Shelter in Incheon and gave birth there. Thanks to rescue support, Pearl has grown up safe and loved — and is now ready for her forever home. Currently in Korea — available for adoption to Canada/US Apply to adopt or foster Pearl: https://adoptmekr.org Please visit our Facebook or Instagram. Pearl is a loving, joyful young dog who will make a wonderful companion for a family ready to grow with her ##2609383##

Story
Meet Bailey   Name: Bailey Age: 4 years Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Jindo Mix Color: Black / Beige Weight: 15.8 kg Height (shoulder): 45 cm     Rescue Story Bailey was found living on a scrap yard, tied to a short 1-meter leash and surviving on food waste alongside several other dogs. Although the owner initially agreed to surrender them, the dogs were sent to a municipal shelter and placed on the euthanasia list.   Bailey was rescued on December 28, 2023, just in time. After staying in boarding care, she has been living in a foster home since October 25, 2024, where she has been learning what it means to be part of a loving home.   ‍‍‍ With People Bailey is affectionate and enjoys being around people. She approaches both familiar faces and strangers, often leaning in for pets and attention. While she may feel a little unsure at first, she still allows handling and quickly warms up.   She tends to feel more comfortable with women and can be slightly cautious around men. Bailey does well with children under 13 and can be gently picked up once she is comfortable.   She has a sweet and thoughtful personality — she often communicates what she wants using her paws rather than barking. She is patient and well-mannered, even during things she doesn’t enjoy (like baths, nail trims, or brushing teeth).   Bailey may not learn things quickly, but she is persistent and always tries her best. She truly enjoys bonding and connecting with her people.   With Other Dogs Bailey greets other dogs politely, but she hasn’t had many opportunities to learn how to play, so she may seem unsure in those situations. With time and positive experiences, she may continue to build confidence. She can feel uncomfortable around larger dogs or those with high energy levels.   If another dog behaves aggressively, she usually chooses to avoid conflict rather than react.   During walks, she may become excited when seeing small white dogs. While she has never shown aggression, she has occasionally displayed a prey-like posture (lowering her head and moving slowly), so introductions are managed carefully. This is believed to be due to limited socialization rather than aggression.   With Cats & Small Animals Bailey may try to chase cats or birds during walks. With proper leash handling and guidance, she responds well and follows her handler.   Energy Level Moderate energy. She enjoys outdoor activities but settles down calmly afterward.   ‍ Walks Bailey is experienced on leash. She may pull slightly at times but generally follows her handler well.   Additional Notes • Not food possessive with people or dogs • Rarely barks • Calm and quiet in a kennel • Can get in and out of the car on her own • Prone to mild motion sickness • Fully outdoor potty trained   Bailey is looking for a patient and understanding home where she can continue to build confidence and feel safe. With her gentle nature and quiet loyalty, she will make a truly devoted companion. Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org  Please also visit our Facebook or Instagram! Story
Meet Hina   Name: Hina Age: 1 year Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Jindo Spitz Mix Color: Brown Weight: 13 kg (28.6 lbs) Height: 45 cm (17.7 in) at the shoulder   Rescue Story   Hina was born to a rural outdoor dog. In April 2025, her owner contacted rescuers asking them to take the puppies born to the mother dog, and Hina was rescued along with her siblings. She spent approximately four months at a boarding facility before moving into a foster home in August.   Hina adapted to her foster home within about a week, but it took closer to a month for her to become fully comfortable with body handling and being approached or caught by people. Her journey has shown that while she may be shy at first, she is capable of building strong bonds once trust is established.   ‍‍ Social with People   Hina is a gentle and somewhat shy girl who takes a little time to warm up to new people. She will readily accept treats from strangers and will even work up the courage to approach for treats herself. Physical affection takes longer—she generally prefers to get to know someone before allowing petting and handling, but she can become comfortable within about a week.   She has met children under 13 and was willing to take treats from them, though she did not actively approach them on her own.   Hina can be picked up by placing an arm under her belly, but she does not particularly enjoy being carried and dislikes being grabbed unexpectedly. Because she is naturally sensitive and somewhat timid, sudden noises or startling situations may cause her to retreat and seek a safe place. For this reason, she would do best with a calm, patient family that can help her continue building confidence at her own pace.   Once she trusts you, Hina becomes incredibly affectionate. She enjoys being petted, leans into her people, rubs against them, and happily seeks attention.   Social with Other Dogs   Hina generally gets along well with dogs that are similar in size, smaller than her, gentle, or socially appropriate. She tends to avoid large dogs that are overly enthusiastic or pushy when trying to initiate play.   When meeting new dogs, she is polite and typically limits interactions to sniffing and greetings. Once friendships develop, however, she becomes playful and enjoys interacting with her canine companions.   Cats   Hina lived with a cat in the same home for approximately three months. When she sees cats during walks, she may watch them with curiosity, but she follows her handler’s guidance and moves on without issue.   Energy Level   Hina has a moderate energy level. She enjoys outdoor activities and walks but settles down nicely and relaxes once her exercise needs have been met.   Walking   Hina is an experienced walker who follows her handler well and does not pull on leash. She enjoys exploring the outdoors while remaining attentive to her person.   Additional Information   Hina does not guard food from people. However, because she enjoys food, she may occasionally growl if another dog approaches her while she is eating. When treats are distributed by people, she patiently waits her turn and takes them politely.   She is generally a very quiet dog and rarely barks. Occasionally, she may give a few hesitant alert barks when encountering unfamiliar people.   One important thing to know about Hina is that she has historically shown anxiety whenever she transitions to a new environment. During her early days in foster care, she chewed on door frames while trying to get outside. When she later moved to a training facility, she initially attempted to climb out of her kennel and repeatedly scratched at doors in an effort to leave unfamiliar spaces.   Because of this, Hina’s adopter should plan to spend significant time helping her settle into her new home. It is important not to leave her alone immediately after adoption and instead focus on building trust, establishing routines, and helping her feel secure. Enrichment activities such as nose work, food puzzles, and interactive games can greatly support her adjustment and confidence.   Hina travels exceptionally well. She is calm in a crate, knows how to jump into and out of a vehicle on her own, and rides comfortably. While she currently prefers to eliminate outdoors, she has successfully used pee pads indoors when walks were not possible.   Ideal Home   Hina would thrive in a patient, understanding home that appreciates the rewarding process of helping a shy dog blossom. She may not be the dog who immediately jumps into a stranger’s lap, but for the person willing to earn her trust, she becomes a deeply affectionate and loyal companion. Meet Ben — A Smart, Affectionate Boy Looking for His Forever Home   Name: Ben Age: 3 years old Sex: Neutered Male Breed: Mixed Breed Color: Tan / Yellow Brown Weight: 15kg Height: 56.5cm (shoulder height)   Rescue Story Ben was rescued from a city shelter before facing an uncertain future.   Personality & Social Skills Ben is an incredibly affectionate and social dog who absolutely loves people. He happily approaches both familiar people and strangers, leans in for pets, and enjoys physical affection. He is gentle enough to be picked up with arms under his belly and will even show his belly to people he just met.   He is also wonderful with children and has interacted well with elementary school-aged kids.   With Other Dogs Ben greets unfamiliar dogs confidently and is generally friendly toward dogs of all sizes — large, medium, and small. He especially enjoys inviting new dog friends to play, and if they are not interested, he can be a little persistent and playful.   Once he settles in, he gets along very well with other dogs and is currently living with around 20 small to large dogs at a rescue cafe environment.   Although he enjoys canine company, Ben craves human love and attention deeply. Because of this, we believe he may thrive best as the only dog in a home where he can receive plenty of love and focus.   Cats & Small Animals Ben has a strong prey drive toward cats and birds and will try to chase them during walks, so a home without cats or small animals is required.   Energy Level & Training Ben has a high energy level and enjoys outdoor activities. After getting enough exercise, he settles down nicely and rests calmly indoors.   He can pull on leash at times but generally follows people well and is eager to engage with his handler. He already knows several commands including:   Sit Wait Spin/Turn   Ben is very smart, trainable, and enjoys interacting with people.   Other Notes • Rides in the car well and can jump in/out on his own • Primarily prefers outdoor potty • Does not guard food from people or dogs • May bark demandingly when he wants something • Tends to listen particularly well to men   Ideal Home Ben would do best with an experienced dog family, especially one familiar with medium-to-large dogs. He would thrive in an active home that can provide consistent exercise, structure, and lots of affection.   Ben has so much love to give and is waiting for a family who will truly make him part of their life. CURRENTLY IN ST.CATHARINES, ON!!! Name: Crystal Age: Approximately 1year old (Estimated DOB: March 1, 2025) Sex: Spayed Female (S. Female) Breed: Jindo Mix Color: Brown Weight: 22 kg Height: 55 cm   Rescue Story: Crystal was born at a city shelter after her mom was admitted.   Personality & Socialization   ‍‍ With People   Crystal is incredibly affectionate. She happily approaches both familiar and unfamiliar people, rubbing her body against them and allowing gentle touches with ease. She fully accepts children under 13 and currently lives in a home with kids.   She’s comfortable being lifted (even with arms placed under her belly), and she warms up instantly to people of all ages and genders. She even shows her belly to strangers and lets people she meets on walks pet her tummy — she is that sweet and trusting!   With Other Dogs   Crystal has a friendly and social nature with dogs of all sizes. She confidently approaches new dogs, politely says hi, and invites them to play. She currently lives with an adult dog much bigger than her and gets along beautifully.   If another dog shows aggression, Crystal simply walks away — she avoids conflict and chooses peace.   With Cats   No direct observation yet, but cat testing can be arranged.   Energy Level   Crystal has a medium energy level. She enjoys outdoor activities, exploring, and playtime, but after that she settles quietly and rests well. Adequate outdoor time makes her happiest.   ‍ Walks   She gets very excited on walks and tends to pull due to curiosity, but she loves people and usually follows well. With consistent practice, she’ll become an excellent walking partner.   Resource Guarding   None observed. She does not guard food against humans or other dogs.   Separation / Home Behavior   Crystal has not been left completely alone — she has always been with another dog when humans were away. Her current separation anxiety is mild, but she may develop anxiety if expected to stay alone, so gradual training is recommended.   She only barks when she wants something, and she whines a bit when placed in a kennel/crate, but usually settles or falls asleep shortly after.   She is currently outdoor potty trained.   Crystal Is Looking for Her Forever Family   Crystal is a sweet, gentle, loving girl with a heart full of affection for people and dogs alike. She’d thrive in a home that can provide: Consistent outdoor time Patient training for solo time A family who loves cuddles and belly rubs Possibly another friendly dog (optional but helpful)   If you’re looking for a warm, social, and gentle Jindo mix puppy, Crystal might be your perfect match. Story
Name: Seoju Age: 3 years Sex: Neutered male Neutered: Yes Breed: Jindo mix Color: Beige Weight: 13.8 kg Height (shoulder): 50 cm   Rescue Story Seoju was rescued in October 2024 just before euthanasia. He entered the AKR Center in January 2025, where he spent about a year working on socialization training. He is a classic playful and mischievous “troublemaker” type who has made great progress with structure and guidance.   With People Seoju loves people — truly loves them He is very affectionate and will approach both familiar people and strangers, leaning in for pets and attention.   He does have a strong attachment tendency and can get jealous when it comes to “his person.” It took about a year to help him become more calm and balanced, and while he’s improved a lot, he’s still not fully settled. In a stable home environment, he is expected to continue improving.   He enjoys both men and women, and once he bonds, he can become very devoted — following his person around like a little bodyguard   Can be picked up comfortably Shows his belly easily, even to new people   With Other Dogs Seoju is generally social and will greet and try to play with both familiar and unfamiliar dogs.   Prefers dogs of similar size Dislikes overly high-energy or pushy dogs   If he feels uncomfortable, he may react, but he’s not a strong fighter and often ends up backing down.   In group settings, he can show jealousy around people (trying to “claim” attention by positioning himself close or between legs), but when people are not involved, he plays well with other dogs.   With Cats Not tested yet, but based on his temperament: Likely indifferent or slightly cautious. Cat testing can be arranged if needed.   Energy Level Moderate energy Enjoys outdoor activities Rests calmly after exercise   He likes carrying blankets or toys to his space and enjoys chewing toys or relaxing beside people   ‍ Walks Seoju can be sensitive to sudden stimuli. He once panicked after being startled by a flapping banner, and may still react in that specific situation.   Walks well in calm, quiet areas like parks nervous in busy roads or noisy environments   Other Notes Food motivated — may guard food from other dogs → separate feeding recommended In the center, he may bark at outside noises, but in foster care he reportedly did not bark Car rides: nervous, needs to be carried in Currently outdoor potty trained, but:   When stressed, drinks more water and may have occasional accidents at night     → Temporary space management recommended during adjustment   Very calm and well-behaved in kennel Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org  Please also visit our Facebook and Instagram!
