Story
Meet Stubbz, a charismatic 1.5-year-old Basset Hound Lab mix with a zest for life. He is crate trained and house trained. This spirited pup is a perfect fusion of energy and sweetness, ready to charm his way into your heart and home!  Stubbz is a ball of enthusiasm, always up for an outdoor adventure. Whether it's exploring new trails or playing with his beloved toys, he's the ideal companion for an active lifestyle. However, his energy translates to some excitement during play and leash walks. Stubbz and his foster Mom are currently working on perfecting his leash manners, and with a little guidance, he's sure to become a great walking partner. As much as he loves to express his delight, Stubbz can get a bit mouthy which is his way of sharing the exuberance bubbling inside him. With patient training and positive reinforcement to include yummy treats, Stubbz will learn to channel his excitement into more gentle interactions. Despite his minor quirks, Stubbz is an absolute sweetheart. His strong yet gentle demeanor makes him a delightful cuddle buddy, especially after a fun filled day. Though he enjoys resting near his foster Mom, Stubbz will normally walk unescorted into his open crate, fluff his blankets and go to sleep.   If you're looking for a companion who's not only eager for adventure but also on a journey of self-improvement, Stubbz is the perfect match. Help him refine his leash skills, and you'll have a charming and loyal friend for life.  His captivating smile and expressive eyes will surely brighten even the gloomiest of days.  Are you ready to embark on a journey of training and companionship? Stubbz is waiting to bring his unique blend of energy and sweetness into your home. PAW places animals in the Washington DC/Baltimore Metropolitan areas only. ##1786501##

Story
Stu is a very sweet, happy, energetic yellow lab mix. He was given up by his owners who could no longer care for him. He enjoys making human friends, gets along well with other dogs, and LOVES to play with his foster brother. He is about 48lbs, 7 months old, and loves fetch! With structured play time, training time, and rest in his crate, Stu has been an easy addition to his foster home. Stu is looking for a home, a family to love him, and someone to continue his training so he can thrive as your loyal companion. How can you say no to those ears? ##2098691##

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Jupiter aka Juju is a whole lotta dog! He loves walks, playing tug-a-war, and practicing his singing voice. He is a quick learner and loves to work on his good boy skills. Jupiter's special talent is unlocking doors! He aims to please, loves to snug and give little kisses. He is still working on his leash reactivity as he screams greetings at dogs he sees on walks. He would also make a great running buddy. He has a good handle on potty training and despite his size, he isn't a big eater. Jupiter is quite comfortable in his crate, even leading his foster to put him in it when tired, but sometimes needs to throw a fit for a few minutes before he can relax. He is a big ball of joy and will make a wonderful addition to an active home!To meet Jupiter, contact his foster at dianehdotson@gmail.com

No time to come to the shelter? Pancake is a super pretty, soft puppy with such pleading eyes. She recently arrived at the shelter as a bashful gal in search of love, compassion, and kindness. And she hopes to find a home that will provide all that as well. Pancake would thrive with adopters that can provide her with lots of enrichment and positive training. She is a delightful young lady and will do very well with gentle guidance, great meals, and LOVE! And she does well on doggie playdates- what a good girl. Please meet her soon!

Story
Good with:Dogs Not tested with:Cats kids House trained:Yes Energy level:Puppy energy (medium-high) Noise level: Generally he is not a big barker (when he needs water, to go outside or sometimes when he sees people passing by the window); Due to his separation anxiety, he is noisier when crated. Hey there I'm Louie and I'm here to charm my way into your heart and home! Let me tell you a little about myself. First things first I'm a big fan of food and treats. I mean who isn't right? But for me they're extra special because I'm still a puppy and I'm working hard on growing these teefs of mine. Chewing is my jam and I'm always on the lookout for something tasty to gnaw on. When it comes to walks I'm a pretty easygoing guy. I don't pull much and I love taking my time to sniff all the sniffs along the way. I've got some basic training under my belt like sit, down and shake. Potty training? Nailed it! Just be sure to pay attention to my cues. And let me tell you I'm super treat motivated so training me is a breeze. I'm working on solidifying some more commands but I'm a quick learner so I'll get there in no time. Also, if you happened to read my previous profile it said I used to chew on shoes. Well good news! My foster home has shoes by the front door and while my curiosity wont keep me from sniffing them, I havent chewed on any shoes! Im also no longer a counter surfer! Ive got a good sniffer though, so Ill probably be in the kitchen smelling all the yummy food smells hoping some gets dropped for me. I don't like getting in my crate: I associate my crate with my humans leaving and - coupled with my separation anxiety - getting into the crate has proven difficult! I will need some extra training and patience. A consistent schedule would be helpful so I know that youre coming back to me. Because Im food motivated, my current foster mom is playing crate games with me, giving me treats when Im in my crate. Ive made some progress! I now can go into my crate on command. I still dont like the door closed or staying in there long periods of time, but foster mom thinks Ill get there soon! Fun fact: Im SO food motivated that when I see my food bowl, Ill actually RUN into my crate and will eat all my meals in my crate with the door closed. If you work from home, Im a great WFH buddy. As long as youve got a dog bed (or couch!) in your office, Ill just curl up and snooze while you work. I wont bother your calls either. If you get up to use the bathroom though, Ill probably get up and follow you. My energy level is puppy-level so I've got plenty of zest for life. I love playing with other dogs, running, fetch, tug, and wrestling! When I get excited and play I do get a little jumpy (but were working on it!). Im a tall pup and can clear a 2-3ft baby gate with no issues. Although I havent been kid tested yet, I might need extra supervision with younger kids. On the flip side, I'm also just as happy to cuddle up and snooze next to you after a good play session. Despite my size, I can curl up into a tiny little croissant! Overall, I'm a leash-trained, crate-trained, playful affectionate and eager-to-please pup. I get along great with other dogs. I would probably do best with a family who is home a lot, at least until I get this crate thing down. So, if you're looking for a goofy and loving companion to join your family, I'm your guy! My foster guardian says:"He is a handsome chap about 9 months old SMART as heck and wild about snacks. Louies love language is touch and who would blame him? with a rough start to life like Louie everyone would also want to keep a paw on your people to make sure they stay safe." Likes: Foods, treats, chewing, sniffing Dislikes: Being put in his crate My ideal home:Since Im still a puppy Im very adaptable to new environments. I might like to live with another play mate though! Please visit our website www.ruraldogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing dog and to see other dogs available for adoption!

Story
Good with: Dogs Not tested with: Cats, kids House trained: Yes Energy level: High Noise level: Lots Hey there! I'm Jingle, the most lovable ball of energy you'll ever meet, currently living it up with my foster family. I'm all about fun and games, whether it's playing fetch, splashing around in the water, or just soaking up as much love and attention as I can get. Mealtime is a highlight for me, although I've learned to slow down a bit with a special slow feeder. While I'm a huge sweetheart who adores everyone and everything, I could use a bit of help with my basic training like sit, down, and leave it. But hey, I'm eager to learn and eager to please, so I'll catch on quickly! I'm house-trained and crate-trained, and I absolutely thrive on outdoor adventures like long walks, hikes, and romps in the dog park. My energy levels are off the charts, and I'm always up for a good run or some zoomies around the yard. I do tend to vocalize a lot, just expressing my excitement for life! My positive traits include being affectionate, playful, and eager to please, but I can get a bit rambunctious and mouthy at times. As for my ideal home, I'm looking for a family that loves activity and adventure as much as I do! With plenty of opportunities for outdoor fun and maybe even some canine companionship, I'll be one happy pup. So, if you're ready for a lifetime of love, laughter, and endless adventures, I'm your guy! My foster guardian says: Jingle is the biggest sweetheart and looks for all the Love and Attention he can receive. He's full of energy and loves playing all day long. Jingle would absolutely love to be outdoors as much as possible and even go on walks and hikes. He loves the water and is looking for adventure all the time. Likes: Fetch, water, attention, meal time Dislikes: Nothing! I am one happy, easy pup! My ideal home: Id love a family with a yard that loves activity and adventure!
