Story
Approx. DOB: 8/23/20                Approx Weight: 51 Lbs Adoption Fee: $200 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Rocky is very sweet, a little shy at first but warms up quickly. He can be goofy and silly sometimes. He is housebroken and crate trained, however if left alone for 8+ hours in a crate he becomes very stressed and will have accident. He has been started on a anti depressant that really helps his anxiety when left alone. He is calmer now and has had no accidents since starting it. He gets along well with other dogs, but does not care for large male dogs that try to dominate him. He is a lover and really doesn't want to fight so he tries to bluff his way out of them. He has done well with children at our Petco events but there are no children in his foster home.  He will need a fenced yard and would do best with someone that works from home or has someone at home most of the time. Rocky is a love bug and really enjoys being brushed, snuggled with and just hanging out with the family. Rocky is going to make some family a wonderful companion. I have been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, wormed and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Story
People say that the eyes are the windows to the soul. One glance into June Bug's eyes, and we're sure you'll agree. Her original owners didn't give her much reason to trust people. Junebug is a survivor, is resilient, and oh so SMART! Junebug will need an adult-only home with folks willing to be patient with her, and your patience will be rewarded ten-fold. She turns 2 in December. This girl is quite snuggly and loving. Once she trusts you she is quite the goofball and so much fun! Since she's super intelligent, she learns commands quickly, and training is a breeze. She seems to love other dogs and will be such a loyal friend to some very lucky human or humans. June Bug is currently spending some time with our training colleagues at The Pet Connection. They are teaching her to trust, how to deal with new situations productively, and that humans are not so bad. They will provide ongoing training support to her new family after her adoption. If you are interested in meeting June Bug, please fill out an application via our website at https://therescueproject.net/adoption-application and we will get back to you via email once your application has been reviewed. If you have further questions please feel free to reach out to us at adoptionstrp@gmail.com. June Bug's adoption fee is $200 and includes age appropriate vaccines, spay, microchip, deworm, heartworm testing.

Story
We show our dogs by appointment only. If you are interested in fostering or adoption from us, please fill lout our online application at kcpaws.petfinder.com. Whiskey's adoption fee will be $150. She must go to a home with at least one other dog.  Whiskey lived on a rural farm in Oklahoma as a completely feral dog. When she arrived she had no idea what it meant to be touched by a human. She had never been on a leash, never even eaten from a bowl. She was terrified of everything around her and did not know what it meant to trust anyone. For weeks, our staff would sit in her run just to get her used to human company, she was to scared to take treats from us and would wait to eat until the night time when everyone was gone. We slowly began to introduce her to other dogs, which really helped her start to come out of her shell just enough to go outside and back in on her own. Whiskey’s rehabilitation has been nearly 1.5 years in the making. She has finally started to bond with a particular staff member. She enjoys quiet time and gentle pets and brushing. Whiskey still is not used to being on a leash. This will continue to take a lot of patience. She must have a home with a securely fenced yard. She is definitely a flight risk and is skittish. We are also requiring she have another dog in her new home. Whiskey is mellow and keeps her run here at the shelter very clean. She currently plays in our small dog playgroup but gets along with dogs of all sizes. We believe she is around 4-5 years old and she weighs about 45 lbs. Whiskey is now in a foster home and has made a lot of improvement and is beginning to trust people. Her foster mom has been working on getting her used to leashes, she doesn't love it but is becoming more tolerant. She will likely never be a dog that enjoys going for walks but the goal is to have her be able to safely walk to and from the car for vet appointments and such. Whiskey has another dog in her foster home and they get along well, she's not really much of a player but she co exists with another dog just fine.  She often likes to spend time just laying in her bed, or in her crate with the door open. She is a den dog who likes to have a safe space.  She is food motivated and will warm up to new things with the help of her favorite treats.  SHe is a dog that will just need a lot of patience and TLC. May 26, 2023, 11:51 am

Story
Well hello there gorgeous! My name is Ethel. Nice to meet you! I'm a fiesty red head. Mama said God made me a red head because he knew I'd need a warning label! BOL! But don't let that intimidate you! I also love to cuddle up for a good snuggle. I love to be held, and get belly rubs. I can come across as timid, but I'm not, that's just how I trick you into picking me up! I love to play with other dogs. I've been around dogs of all sizes from teeny tiny Chihuahua puppies to a 165lb great dane! Doin' zoomies is my favorite thing, and I like it when the other dogs chase me. Typical female right? Being so young, I'm still working on potty training. But give me time and patience, and I'll catch on. I just forget sometimes, and when I gotta go, I gotta go! If you're looking for trouble, adopt a red head! BOL! My adoption fee is 250$. This covers cost of spay, 4 rounds of distemper/parvo vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 4 rounds of dewormer, microchip, and I've been started on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
