Story
If you’re looking for a pre-trained, young adult dog we hope you will consider Esperanza (aka Essie), who has been waiting a year for a family of her own! We will be honest — we don’t know anything about Essie’s early life, but we can infer that it didn’t include a lot of loving care from people before she and her puppies were found in a garage in South Texas. Essie was terrified by the time she made it to Dallas, and like the smart girl she is, she was very wary of new people and places. (She had zero reason to think that a van ride to Dallas was going to end well for her!) Essie’s babies were quickly adopted, and over the past year she has made INCREDIBLE progress thanks to a very patient foster who has taught her that we humans aren’t all a bunch of jerks, and life in a house can be great! These days Essie likes to play with toys, wrestle with her canine foster siblings, and is very affectionate once she’s decided that you’re worthy. She is also house trained, and knows basic obedience commands. Living with Essie will be pretty easy, her crate is her Zen Den and she will need it in her home for sleeping and when there are new people or lots of commotion in the house. Although she’s made great strides in the past year, she’s not yet ready to join your book club or Christmas party, and we think that is perfectly acceptable for a dog whose life started out pretty bad. We’d like to see Essie join a home with another dog, so she can keep building her confidence and wrestling prowess, and with a human who understands the importance of continuing Essie’s socialization.

Story
Introducing Coco Mann, a handsome 5-year-old boy weighing in at 76 pounds. Coco may be a little nervous when meeting new people, but he truly thrives in the company of someone who is home often or has another dog companion. We have found that apartment living may not be the best fit for him, as he benefits from having someone around to spend time with. Coco's journey began when he was found in the outside kennels of the Fort Worth shelter during a time when they were asking dogs to be moved due to frigid temps. Recognizing the need for immediate help, we took him into our boarding facility for temporary housing. However, after seeing what a wonderful dog he is, we couldn't bear to send him back to the shelter. With open hearts, we made the decision to bring Coco into our rescue, where he now awaits his forever home. Since arriving in our rescue, Coco has shown us what a great dog he is. Currently living in a foster home with other dogs, Coco may feel a bit nervous around little children due to their fast movements. However, in new settings, his disposition is adorable, submissive, and happy. With time and patience, he continues to gain confidence and is now thriving on the leash. Walking beside you, Coco has become quite the pro! Coco is a couch potato by nature, but when it's playtime, he will entertain himself endlessly with a toy. He loves tossing it up in the air and engaging in playful antics. Additionally, he has shown good compatibility with cats, although proper introductions are highly recommended as each cat's personality is unique. While we're uncertain about how Coco would do with young children due to his nervous nature, we believe he would be just fine with bigger kids over the age of five. His loving and good-looking demeanor makes him an ideal companion for a family ready to give him the chance he deserves. If you're looking for a loyal and affectionate buddy, Coco is waiting to steal your heart. Don't hesitate to reach out and give this deserving pup a forever home filled with love and understanding. #AdoptCocoMann #RescueDog #ForeverHomeNeeded All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. Miss Melly is a beautiful golden lab with soft eyes and happy demeanor. She is 6 years old and has been overlooked for a long time. She is playful, loving and very food motivated. She will need a fenced yard and no young kiddos. Melly is someone who deserves love, patience and will actively establish safety for her. We're looking for an adopter with a heart for Melly. She loves to give kisses! A quick learner and knows basic commands and love treats! She likes to go in her crate even with the door open! Melly is a little unsure of new people, usually men and needs slow intros with dogs. She has shown that with true decompression and slow intros she can get along great with another dog. Story
'Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be' - Robert Browning Amora is a sweetheart with a heart full of love and just the right amount of senior dog energy. She enjoys walking around the neighborhood just as much as she loves staying indoors sleeping on the couch. She loves people, food, and naps...in no particular order. While Amora is crate trained, her laid-back personality doesn't really require it. This love bug is looking for a forever home where she can thrive as the only four-legged family member. In return, she offers a lifetime of tail wags, kisses, and cozy cuddling sessions. She is such a sweet soul. She happily will jump up beside you and press her little body close for pets and loving. She is super sweet, super calm and always ready for belly rubs. She seems to have some lab, terrier and dachshund as she has a long body and is a low rider. Amora is knee-high and 'knee-din' a home that will love her furever. She loves her stuffies and anything that squeaks. She is a sweet girl and loves her humans. This sweet momma was being given away for free with her 9 puppies. We always hate to see that and while we can't always do anything we were able to wrangle enough fosters to save this little family. 🐾 Meet Millie – The Sweetest Girl Looking for Love! 🐾 Hi there, I’m Millie, and I’m as sweet as can be! 💕 I absolutely love everyone I meet—kids, big dogs, little dogs—you name it! I just have so much love to give and can’t wait to find a family who will love me back. So why am I looking for a new home? Well, my owner’s boyfriend’s dog didn’t like me and wasn’t very nice to me. My owner made the tough decision to let me go because she knew it was for the best. And you know what? That means I now have the chance to find a family who will love me as much as I love them! I’m about 45 pounds, petite but full of personality! This sweet girl is much smaller than she looks, crate trained, potty-trained and good with other pups and children. Millie has lived with a child in a wheelchair and does just fine! Millie is about a year old and finds herself in an unexpected position. And its better for Millie to be in a home she can thrive in. She is medium sized, house and crate trained and while she still pulls on her leash, walking manners are improving quickly. Meet Dot (Dottie) 🎀 Dot’s story began when her mother was rescued, and just a short time later, on Christmas Day 2024, Dot and her siblings were born safely in our care. Now 9 months old and about 40 lbs, this beautiful retriever mix has grown up in rescue — and it’s time for her to find a forever family of her own. Dot is as smart as she is sweet. She already knows sit, stay, and shake, and she’s potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, and eager to please. She’s wonderful with other dogs and children, making her an excellent family companion. Her favorite game is tug, and she’s always up for playtime before settling down for snuggles. Playful, loving, and incredibly loyal, Dot has spent her whole young life waiting. Now she’s ready to grow up in the comfort of a forever home. 💕 📩 Apply to adopt Dot: www.dallasdog.org/adopt A good Samaritan took Dot's mom, a stray, in and as soon as she knew she was safe she quickly delivered 10 little puppies.
