Story
Meet Taco! A spirited four-year-old Labrador Retriever/Shepherd mix currently Spearfish, SD, whose sunny tan coat and joyful personality make every day a little brighter. This handsome boy is affectionate, energetic, endlessly curious, and wonderfully silly, always finding new ways to make the people he loves laugh! Whether he is happily exploring on an off-leash walk, chasing a tossed rock with impressive enthusiasm, searching for chipmunks, or simply staying close to his favorite person, Taco brings warmth, loyalty, and entertainment wherever he goes. Taco is a well-trained companion who knows sit, stay, here, leave it, shake, and "on your bed," and he even comes running when he hears a whistle. He enjoys having a predictable routine, loves being included in everyday adventures, and thrives when he has plenty of exercise, long walks, and opportunities to stretch his legs. His medium energy level makes him an excellent match for an active family who enjoys spending time outdoors. This lovable boy has overcome significant separation anxiety through patient training and positive reinforcement, showing how eager he is to learn and grow. He also requires a special diet because of a sensitive digestive system related to parvovirus as a puppy, but with the right nutrition he continues to feel his best. Taco is house-trained, crate-trained, neutered, microchipped, and current on his vaccinations. Taco needs a new loving home where he can be the only pet, with experienced pet parents and a calm, predictable routine. In a household without another dog or young children present, he has been relaxed, playful, and full of silly personality, and his resource guarding has not resurfaced in that setting. Taco has a bite history with dogs in his home, including conflicts over resources, and a recent altercation with another dog while boarding shows his reactions to other dogs are not limited to the home environment. His family will need to manage him safely around unfamiliar dogs and provide the structure, daily exercise, and enrichment that help him thrive. To help set Taco and his future family up for success, he is currently boarding with a professional trainer and behaviorist who knows him well. As an added benefit, the trainer has generously offered a complimentary consultation to Taco's adopters, providing guidance, answering questions, and helping them transition Taco smoothly into his new home with confidence! He is compatible with older, respectful children who understand his need for personal space, and a quieter home without toddlers will help him feel comfortable and secure. He may bark or growl when surprised by strangers, hats, or unexpected movement in dim lighting, so gentle introductions help him settle with confidence. Could this funny, devoted boy be ready to share his next great adventure with your family? If you think Taco could be the loyal adventure partner you have been searching for, please contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more! Content Notice: This pet is represented by Joyful Pets. Story
Meet Jimmy! A devoted two-year-old Hound/Labrador Retriever mix currently living in Willowbrook, IL, whose big heart and tricolor coat are as unforgettable as his journey from the streets of Iraq to a life filled with love and hope. Jimmy is a gentle, soulful pup who’s learning every day what it means to be part of a family, and he’s nailing it! With his goofy teddy bear in tow, he adores long walks, belly rubs, and soaking up every bit of affection you have to offer. Whether you're lounging on the couch or heading out for an adventure, Jimmy is your guy! Loyal, cuddly, and ready to be your shadow from morning coffee to bedtime snuggles. This 60-pound sweetheart is house-trained, fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. While formal obedience training hasn’t been part of his past, Jimmy is eager to please and learning new things daily. He thrives in a calm, confident home and would do best as the only pup, where he can have all the love and space to himself, especially a fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and chase a toy or two. Though he may be startled by sudden rear touches or loud yelling, Jimmy’s temperament is affectionate and responsive. He’s done well with some dogs at parks and in boarding, though he can be selective with his canine companions. With the right guidance and continued positive reinforcement, he’s bound to blossom even more! What makes Jimmy especially endearing is his remarkable trust in people despite his challenging start in life. He greets each day with hope, loyalty, and the desire to bond deeply. His current caregiver calls him “a great dog and loving companion,” and it’s clear he’s ready to bring that same comfort and joy into the heart of a new family. Are you the caring, active pet parent Jimmy needs to continue his amazing journey? If you're ready to welcome this devoted companion please email adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about bringing Jimmy home! Could your family be the one he’s been waiting for?

Story
Meet Stitch! A charming four-year-old American Pitbull Terrier mix currently in Humble, TX, whose essence is a joyful blend of playful energy and heart-melting affection wrapped in a rich reddish brown coat. Stitch is the kind of companion who fills each day with warmth, whether he is romping around the yard or relaxing near his favorite people. With a medium build and about 60 pounds of love to give, he carries himself with a gentle confidence that instantly puts others at ease. Stitch has grown up alongside a young child and shows a remarkable gentleness that truly stands out. He happily accepts hand-fed treats and remains calm and careful when little hands are nearby, making him wonderfully compatible with families with children. His friendly nature extends beyond the home as well, as he enjoys meeting new people and greeting fellow dogs with an easygoing, social spirit. This bright boy already knows commands like sit, wait, come, and down, and he responds well to guidance with positive reinforcement. While he has not had formal training classes, he shows a natural eagerness to learn and would enjoy continued learning opportunities with his future family. When left alone for short periods, Stitch stays relaxed and entertains himself with toys or quiet exploration. He enjoys spending time outdoors where he can stretch his legs, and he would thrive in a caring environment where he has space to run and play. Like many active dogs, he sometimes gets a little creative with digging or chewing if he does not have enough toys, but providing him with engaging chew options keeps his playful mind happy. Stitch’s soulful gaze and constant companionship create a special bond that his future family will feel every day. He is looking for a new loving home that can offer attention, playtime, and plenty of shared moments. Could Stitch be the companion who brings a new rhythm of joy and connection into your days? Story
Meet Sarang! A gentle four-year-old Jindo/Labrador Retriever mix currently in Fort Worth, TX, whose snow-white coat and soulful eyes are only matched by his love for people and peaceful strolls through the neighborhood. At 65 pounds, Sarang is the perfect blend of solid companionship and mellow energy. He’s house-trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations, ready to step paw-first into a new chapter with a new loving family. This big-hearted boy thrives on routine and structure, responding beautifully to several basic commands like sit, touch, shake, down, and wait. Though he hasn’t had formal obedience classes, his calm and attentive nature makes him a wonderful student of daily life. Sarang’s idea of a good time? A relaxing walk with his favorite human, followed by a satisfying meal and some quality downtime. He truly thrives as the only pet in the home where he can soak up all the attention and build a deep bond with his person. While he's friendly and playful with people of all ages, children and adults alike, he needs a home without other pets so he can feel secure and fully relaxed. He just blossoms when he has his human to himself, forming a loyal and devoted connection that is incredibly special! He does have a few quirks that add to his charm. Thunderstorms make him a little uneasy, and bath time isn’t exactly his favorite activity, but who among us doesn’t have a few things we’d rather skip? Health-wise, Sarang is doing well, with only a history of chronic ear infections to be mindful of. Sarang needs plenty of outdoor time to feel his best. Long walks, car rides, and simply being out and about exploring the world bring him genuine joy. He would be compatible with someone who can spend significant time with him and include him in daily routines, whether that means errands, weekend outings, or peaceful evening strolls. Being part of his person’s everyday life helps him feel confident and content. A fenced yard where he can safely explore would be a bonus, and a family that appreciates his gentle spirit will be rewarded with unwavering loyalty and heartfelt companionship! Are you ready to welcome a calm, devoted companion like Sarang into your heart and home? Story
Meet Archie! A spirited one-year-old Black Mouth Cur mix currently in Omaha, NE, whose essence is pure joy wrapped in a handsome tan coat, soulful eyes, and a striking black muzzle. At about 65 pounds, Archie is a big, goofy love bug who is still discovering just how much space those long legs occupy! His occasional clumsiness only adds to his charm. Once Archie trusts you, cuddling becomes a full-body experience. He may melt against you with all 65 pounds or wander between your legs for a reassuring lean, making it wonderfully clear that being close to his people is his happy place! Archie is playful, friendly, and extremely gentle with other dogs. He loves racing around a fenced yard, being chased by canine friends, chewing his bones, and proudly finding a good stick to carry during his adventures. He is submissive during dog play and happily shares his food and toys. He also appears noticeably more confident with other dogs around, so a friendly, confident canine companion could be a wonderful match for him! His compatibility with cats is currently unknown. With people, Archie has a tender, cautious side. He genuinely wants affection and connection, but he may initially keep some distance from someone new while he decides whether he feels safe. Slow movements, patience, and giving him the freedom to initiate interaction help this sensitive boy build trust. He is also gentle with children of all ages. This sweet boy has medium energy and enjoys frequent outdoor play followed by cozy evening cuddles. He is still working on potty training and would benefit from a patient pet parent who can continue helping him learn through consistency and positive reinforcement. His known command is “treat,” which sounds like an excellent starting point for future training sessions! Archie is also sensitive to loud, sudden, or unfamiliar noises and fast movements. A quieter, predictable environment where he knows what to expect will help him feel secure and continue building confidence. Archie can manage short periods alone and seems more comfortable staying in a room than a kennel. Leashes and car rides can make him quite nervous, so patient, confidence-building experiences will help him continue blossoming. Archie responds well to gentle, non-forceful handling. With patience and consistency, he has wonderful potential to become more comfortable with leash walking. A fenced yard is required for his playtime and adventures. Archie is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He has a sensitive stomach that currently does well with Hill’s Science Diet Biome prescription food and a quality probiotic. Most of all, Archie is a soulful, affectionate companion who wants to be deeply connected to his family. His behavior assessment highlighted his resilience, sociability, and learning potential. He truly wants love and connection but needs the freedom to build trust at his own pace. With patience, consistency, and a peaceful home, Archie has wonderful potential to become a deeply devoted companion! Could Archie be the sweet, slightly clumsy best friend you’ve been waiting to meet? If you’re interested in providing Archie with a loving home, please email meetme@joyfulpets.com for more information about adopting him! Please note that Archie is currently in foster care through one of our trusted rescue partners and will remain with his foster family until the right match is found. Because rescue-partner pets are managed directly by their respective organizations, their adoption process, requirements, and fees may differ from Joyful Pets’ direct rehoming program. Our team will be happy to connect you with the rescue and help guide you through their process to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Story
Meet Tash. She has been fostered through DAS shelter where she was originally on the kill list. She is in danger of going back there where she will be immediately put down due to space. The DAS foster is due to start traveling and has asked us to help her find a home for Tash. Tash has had a rough life. She looks like she has been the victim of dog fights and had been bred. Tash is eager to listen, seeks human interaction and is overflowing with love despite what she looks like and has been through. She has a small frame and weighs 48 lbs. She is quiet, average energy, and really just prefers to know where you are at all times. I have never heard her bark and we suspect it may be due to previous damage to her vocal cords. Tash has never met a stranger and gets a little sad when people avoid her because of her healing scars. She would be perfect in a home where her family can show her lots of love. She needs it after what she’s been through! About our little Tashy Washy: -3 years old -Has done well with gentle and patient children in a home, however, should still be supervised when newly being introduced to anyone -Takes treats very gently -House broken. She sometimes prefers to poop in inconvenient places like on the sidewalk or in the middle of an intersection in the town square when we go on walks. -Knows how to sit like Queen Elizabeth herself -Loves long romantic walks down the lumber aisle of Home Depot -She’s a great listener and she is eager to listen! I only have to lightly correct her when she’s being a gremlin. -Does well in a crate with some coaxing and sleeps through the night in her crate -Wonderful on a leash but does require some training when it comes to greeting people. She’s invasive and wants to meet everyone. (we are working on it) -She reacts to dogs on walks but not in an alarming way. She is interested and just needs slow introductions to new pets.-Does well with other dogs but needs slow and consistent introductions (she currently gets along well with our senior German Shepard mix that is low energy) Tash needs a hero! Meet JETT — this gorgeous, handsome boy will win your heart! Jett is one of those dogs you meet and immediately wonder how someone ever let him end up in a shelter. He is gorgeous, incredibly sweet, gentle, smart, affectionate, and just an all-around wonderful boy. Jett is a 60-pound Border Collie/Lab Retriever mix. He could also have some Flat-Coated Retriever or even a little Great Dane mixed into his recipe. Whatever his combination is, it certainly worked! Jett has a beautiful, fluffy coat as soft as rabbit fur, gorgeous, shining eyes, and the most adorable white “socks” on his feet and legs, complete with black mottling and speckles. And then there’s his beautiful fan tail! His mostly black tail curls halfway upward and ends in a lovely white tip. We absolutely adore it. So many herding dogs have very little tail, so seeing Jett’s gorgeous plume is pretty special! GENTLE, LOVING & EASYGOING Jett is a true gentle “not-giant.” He’s larger than a Border Collie but nowhere close to the size of a full-grown Lab. Despite his size, Jett has a wonderfully manageable, medium energy level. He isn’t constantly bouncing off the walls or demanding entertainment. He is perfectly happy relaxing with his people and soaking up affection. Jett LOVES to be petted. When he first meets you, his primary goal is simply to get as much love as possible. Once he knows you and feels comfortable, he’s ready to play ball, play fetch, and have some fun! He is currently in a foster home with a female Mini Aussie who isn’t exactly the world’s most enthusiastic playmate or kindest host — my dog — and Jett simply respects her space. He is also happily sharing the home with another male foster dog, and the two get along beautifully. There have been no alpha issues whatsoever. Jett is completely housebroken and does not need to be crated. He enjoys appropriate chewies like rawhides, but he doesn’t go around chewing things that don’t belong to him. He is also NOT a big barker. He doesn’t “bark for nothing.” We’re sure he’ll let you know if someone knocks on the door or rings the bell, but he’s much more of a gentle companion than a self-appointed security system! THE PERFECT COMPANION Jett would fit beautifully into a variety of homes. He could be an amazing companion for a single person who works from home, someone who can bring their dog to work, or anyone looking for a loving dog to share everyday life with. He could also make a wonderful companion for another large, moderate-energy dog, with a female likely being the best match. And Jett could be an exceptional family dog. He is patient, gentle, affectionate, and not overly excitable. His size may make him look imposing, but his personality is anything but intimidating. Jett is a very smart boy who wants to please his people. He is responsive to training and already knows some basic commands. He’s treat-motivated, but what’s even more motivating to Jett is your praise and affection. A SHELTER FAVORITE Jett was evaluated at the rural shelter where he came from, and everyone there loved him. He quickly became a staff favorite. It’s easy to see why. We think Jett would absolutely LOVE to learn how to go places, explore the world, play fetch, and experience life alongside his humans. He doesn’t need a complicated life. He just needs his people, some love, a little fun, and a soft place to land. When you meet this wonderful boy, you’re going to want to bring him home forever. If Jett sounds like the perfect addition to your family, please complete an adoption application at: www.dashdog.org Then TEXT SARA at 214-549-9905 so I can check your application and get back to you!   General Info - PLEASE READ! *Our $450 adoption fee is based on the cost of rescuing, transporting and vetting each dog; we do not try to compete on prices with municipal shelters whose funds are paid by the city. Bonnie and Goldie were found on the road in the country. They originally had two other siblings with them who could not be found again; it is suspected (hoped) that someone picked up those two.  These girls are playful, happy pups in spite what they have been through. Bonnie is gold and white and fluffy. She weighs 33 pounds. Sweet, sweet girl and great with other dogs and she would make a lovely best friend. ##2775520##
