Hi! I`m Ranchito, a bundle of joy who loves to play and cuddle. My days are filled with fun and laughter, as I`m quite the goofy and energetic fellow. Meet Tash. She has been fostered through DAS shelter where she was originally on the kill list. She is in danger of going back there where she will be immediately put down due to space. The DAS foster is due to start traveling and has asked us to help her find a home for Tash. Tash has had a rough life. She looks like she has been the victim of dog fights and had been bred. Tash is eager to listen, seeks human interaction and is overflowing with love despite what she looks like and has been through. She has a small frame and weighs 48 lbs. She is quiet, average energy, and really just prefers to know where you are at all times. I have never heard her bark and we suspect it may be due to previous damage to her vocal cords. Tash has never met a stranger and gets a little sad when people avoid her because of her healing scars. She would be perfect in a home where her family can show her lots of love. She needs it after what she’s been through! About our little Tashy Washy: -3 years old -Has done well with gentle and patient children in a home, however, should still be supervised when newly being introduced to anyone -Takes treats very gently -House broken. She sometimes prefers to poop in inconvenient places like on the sidewalk or in the middle of an intersection in the town square when we go on walks. -Knows how to sit like Queen Elizabeth herself -Loves long romantic walks down the lumber aisle of Home Depot -She’s a great listener and she is eager to listen! I only have to lightly correct her when she’s being a gremlin. -Does well in a crate with some coaxing and sleeps through the night in her crate -Wonderful on a leash but does require some training when it comes to greeting people. She’s invasive and wants to meet everyone. (we are working on it) -She reacts to dogs on walks but not in an alarming way. She is interested and just needs slow introductions to new pets.-Does well with other dogs but needs slow and consistent introductions (she currently gets along well with our senior German Shepard mix that is low energy) Tash needs a hero! Meet JETT — this gorgeous, handsome boy will win your heart! Jett is one of those dogs you meet and immediately wonder how someone ever let him end up in a shelter. He is gorgeous, incredibly sweet, gentle, smart, affectionate, and just an all-around wonderful boy. Jett is a 60-pound Border Collie/Lab Retriever mix. He could also have some Flat-Coated Retriever or even a little Great Dane mixed into his recipe. Whatever his combination is, it certainly worked! Jett has a beautiful, fluffy coat as soft as rabbit fur, gorgeous, shining eyes, and the most adorable white “socks” on his feet and legs, complete with black mottling and speckles. And then there’s his beautiful fan tail! His mostly black tail curls halfway upward and ends in a lovely white tip. We absolutely adore it. So many herding dogs have very little tail, so seeing Jett’s gorgeous plume is pretty special! GENTLE, LOVING & EASYGOING Jett is a true gentle “not-giant.” He’s larger than a Border Collie but nowhere close to the size of a full-grown Lab. Despite his size, Jett has a wonderfully manageable, medium energy level. He isn’t constantly bouncing off the walls or demanding entertainment. He is perfectly happy relaxing with his people and soaking up affection. Jett LOVES to be petted. When he first meets you, his primary goal is simply to get as much love as possible. Once he knows you and feels comfortable, he’s ready to play ball, play fetch, and have some fun! He is currently in a foster home with a female Mini Aussie who isn’t exactly the world’s most enthusiastic playmate or kindest host — my dog — and Jett simply respects her space. He is also happily sharing the home with another male foster dog, and the two get along beautifully. There have been no alpha issues whatsoever. Jett is completely housebroken and does not need to be crated. He enjoys appropriate chewies like rawhides, but he doesn’t go around chewing things that don’t belong to him. He is also NOT a big barker. He doesn’t “bark for nothing.” We’re sure he’ll let you know if someone knocks on the door or rings the bell, but he’s much more of a gentle companion than a self-appointed security system! THE PERFECT COMPANION Jett would fit beautifully into a variety of homes. He could be an amazing companion for a single person who works from home, someone who can bring their dog to work, or anyone looking for a loving dog to share everyday life with. He could also make a wonderful companion for another large, moderate-energy dog, with a female likely being the best match. And Jett could be an exceptional family dog. He is patient, gentle, affectionate, and not overly excitable. His size may make him look imposing, but his personality is anything but intimidating. Jett is a very smart boy who wants to please his people. He is responsive to training and already knows some basic commands. He’s treat-motivated, but what’s even more motivating to Jett is your praise and affection. Apparently, Josie was surrendered to a local shelter because she was "too much responsibility."We're going to go ahead and respectfully disagree. This sweet girl is a 5-year-old Shar-Pei/Lab mix who is about as easygoing as they come. She LOVES dogs, LOVES kids, and is perfectly happy to accept a good butt scratch from pretty much anyone. Josie is housebroken, sweet as can be, and just an all-around easy girl. Her one current assignment? She came to us carrying a few extra pounds, so we're going to help her get back to a healthy weight with regular walks, good food, and plenty of encouragement. Honestly, if this is what "too much responsibility" looks like, we'll take a whole farm full of it.Josie just needs to find the person who is willing to take on the very serious responsibility of loving this girl for the rest of her life. Butters is a goofy, affectionate little guy whose favorite thing in the world is simply being part of whatever his people are doing. He doesn’t need to be the center of attention—he just wants to be in the same room with you, playing with a toy, working on a Kong, getting some love, or happily taking a nap nearby. He’s a surprisingly easy puppy to have around. Butters appears to already be potty trained, is crate trained, sleeps well in his crate, and has not shown destructive behaviors in the home. He’s also very responsive to redirection. Usually, one simple “no” is enough for him to understand what you’re asking, and he catches onto household expectations quickly. With Other Dogs Butters has done very well with every dog introduction he’s had so far, both with our own dogs and others. He’s calm and respectful when meeting them—he doesn’t immediately get in their face or demand interaction. He’s perfectly happy just existing alongside another dog until everyone decides it’s time to play. He really seems to enjoy being part of a pack, and we think he would love a home with another dog. He seems most content when he can simply be included with everyone else. With Cats Butters has also been respectful with our cat. Our cat isn’t exactly thrilled about having a puppy around, but Butters takes the hint. He isn’t obsessive, pushy, or constantly trying to investigate or chase her. He’s comfortable letting her exist in the same space without making her his business. With People People, according to Butters, were apparently put on this earth specifically to love on Butters. He LOVES people. He’s affectionate, social, goofy, and gives kisses without being the dog who needs to lick your face for 45 consecutive minutes. When he’s playing with people, he loves the interaction; when he’s entertaining himself, he’s perfectly capable of grabbing a toy and doing his own thing. He’s also relatively quiet. He isn’t much of a barker outside of the occasional bark when he’s excited and playing. His Favorite Things Kongs are a big hit with Butters, especially when his meals are served in them. Give him his dinner in a Kong, let him work his little brain for a while, and there’s a pretty good chance you’ll have a sleepy puppy afterward. He enjoys toys, independent play, playing with other dogs, hanging out with his people, naps, kisses, and—most importantly—being included. A Note About Children Children are currently the one area we’re still learning about. Butters is very fearful of children, and their presence can cause him to shut down. We are gently working with him to determine whether this is something he can become more comfortable with over time or whether a child-free home will ultimately be the best environment for him. For now, we would want any potential adopter with children to understand that this is a genuine fear for him and not something we want to force him through.
