Tommy is a 1-2 year old, 15lb Poodle. Tommy is from Mexico. Once he was rescued he was groomed, and fully vetted by a wonderful rescue in Mexico. He was then transferred to us because his rescuers knew he could find a wonderful forever family in CO. Tommy has now been in CO a couple weeks and is totalyl ready to find his forever family. Tommy is a sweet boy. He gets along great with other dogs and all people. He is in a foster home with lot of other dogs, cats, and humans. He does find cats fun to chase, so his forever home might be best without a cat, unless they know how to tolerate a dog constantly trying to play with them. Simon loves to follow his foster Momma around the house all the time. He is an incredibly snuggly little man and would prefer to sleep with his people in bed (probably as the little spoon). For being a young pup who was found on the streets on Mexico he is pretty perfect. He is truly such a great little guy. Tommy will need regular grooming appointments since he is a non-shedding dog. There's nothing quite like puppy sweetness and silliness, and then they put their beautiful heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. These gorgeous puppies are so pure and vulnerable with their whole lives lying in front of them, that it's unbearable to think of them homeless and alone on the streets or in a high-kill shelter scheduled for euthanasia. Frodo is a cute as can be 9 week old, 4 lb Miniature Poodle / Maltese mix. Farfel's can't swear to the accuracy of this breed mix as no DNA test was done. This was the opinion of Texas veterinarians and we're going with their educated guess. Frodo is starting out with great energy. While initially just a bit shy, this sweet puppy is blossoming in his foster home as he learns about living in a safe and nurturing environment with love and kindness . Now at 4 months old, Frodo's self esteem is getting better each day as he learns that he's a very valuable guy that has so much to offer a dog-loving family. Frodo's non-shedding coat is currently a bit shelter-sad. This gorgeous guy's forever family will need to make a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are perfect lifelong protocols for general longevity and coat care) to keep his hair super-healthy, shining and cottony soft. Frodo is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's also so loving and cuddly once he's comfortable in his environment. This snuggly little guy would be very excited to be a couch potato and snuggle with his favorite people at the end of an active day. Even at just 4 months old, it's clear that this puppy is SO smart and very sweet - very typical of both the Poodle and Terrier personalities. Many would say these two breeds are among the most intelligent and loving in the dog world. Since Frodo is just a puppy, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion. Frodo will form firm bonds with his family and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement puppy kindergarten followed by force-free level 1 Obedience Classes. These classes will make a profound difference in a puppy's ultimate behavior and in his relationship/bonding with his people. It does take time and commitment, yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue feels very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal virtual or in-person positive reinforcement / force-free training classes. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Frodo out to a home that doesn't choose to offer him this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area. We're open to Frodo finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. A younger family that works from a home-based office would also be a great choice for a puppy that would love nothing more than getting loved up periodically throughout the day. Frodo enjoys his relationships with all humans and dogs...we would prefer, however, to place him in a home with older kids (tail pulling or rough treatment will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can also be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development. Frodo will be up to date on his vetting and vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs. Extensive new research shows that Frodo is far too young to be neutered at this time. When he's approximately 12 months old, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Frodo's neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used. Applications are currently being accepted for this adorable and sweet as can be puppy who is learning about love and acceptance in his life.
