Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.

Louie arrived from a high kill shelter in Georgia and is now on the hunt for a home of his own. He loves people and dogs alike. Louie is GREAT with kids too. With his friendly nature he will make a wonderful companion for years to come. Please keep in mind puppies need patience and lots of love, along with frequent potty breaks, socialization, and some basic training to be the best canine citizens they can be. Will you give this sweet boy a loving forever home? Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.       Foster Program: Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home. For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.org.Sponsor Me! Story
Lil Dude is a darling extra-large puppy who we believe to be a Plott Hound/Great Dane mix born in May 2023. His extremely sweet temperament extends to humans, dogs, and cats, and he’s convinced he’s everyone’s very best friend. He has been started on leash walking and is doing great. Dude will be easy to train because he is eager to please, and is food motivated. He was living outside, so hasn’t been started on many life skills, but he’s now in a wonderful foster home so he’ll be started correctly and lovingly. While there’s no way to know how big he will be, Lil Dude is large for his age so housing situations with weigh restrictions won’t be a good match. Neither will someone whose main concern is having an adult dog the size of a male Great Dane because we don’t want anyone disappointed.  Lil Dude is neutered and up to date on all vaccines and health care, so doesn’t need anything other than your love and attention. Adopt this kind boy while he’s a clean slate and enjoy teaching him how you would like him to live in your household. You’ll have an extremely loving and grateful bestie. Adoption fee $275. This covers the cost of spay/neuter, DHPP, Rabies, Flea, tick, heart worm check, worm treatment, and microchip. To adopt, you need to first fill out an application. Go to: https://rutherfordcountyhumanesociety.org/dog-adoption-application/ We are located in Western North Carolina.   Optional transport is weekly.  After your application is approved, we will contact you regarding cost and delivery if you so desire.October 2, 2023, 4:44 pm

Story
Patrice, a very sweet girl, just arrived into our care and is really starting to come out of her shell in her foster home! She is about 2 years old, 20lbs and best guess a plot hound / mountain cur mix. She is just the perfect size to snuggle with and take on adventures. She is a quiet, reserved girl but once she warms up her smile is huge! She would love another dog pal in her home to run around with, keep her company and show her just how cool it is to be a dog and have no worries in the world anymore! She is enjoying the other resident dogs in her home, the human adults and kids. Patrice is house trained, sleeps in her crate through the night, great in the car, likes to play but will happily find a comfy spot to rest her head. Let her smile brighten your home and add to your pack. Patrice is spayed, micro-chipped and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. The adoption fee for this dog is $350 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. For more information, please contact nwilson@petconnectrescue.org. **If you're viewing this on Petfinder, please visit www.petconnectrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**September 18, 2023, 12:07 am

Story
Exuberant: Adjective, meaning 'Filled with or characterized by a lively energy and excitement' (Dictionary), 'Marked vitality or vigor' (Merriam-Webster), 'Very energetic, and showing the happiness of being alive' (Cambridge English), 'Effusively and almost uninhibitedly enthusiastic' (Dictionary.com)Synomym: Karate Kid from WTAR!!! Other acceptable synonyms might be Whirling Dervish, Tasmanian Devil......or just a normal high-energy puppy eager to please but without the benefit yet of any training, rules, routines or limits. This great but definitely exuberant pup has made huge progress in just a few days in foster, possible even first time in a house, yay----but fyi, NOT housebroken yet, soooooo teething and mouthy and herding, wants to play with all the other dogs but whew, she's so over the top puppy teeth and not yet mindful of what the other dog is communicating that even the playful adult dogs need a break now and then, she's also the definition of 'zoomies', a messy eater, will for sure be a shedder, well, in other words, a perfectly normal young newly-rescued puppy!!But smart, so smart!!, wants to please, is really ready to absorb all the training and rules you provide to allow her wonderful 'good canine citizen' potential to blossom, would also be a good candidate for learning a job/chores, and of course beautiful and charming, loving, and happy happy happy! But truly requires a commitment to consistent positive training!! You do NOT want to adopt this cute puppy unless you can and will train her, be a clear and kind but consistent leader, and continue training thru' all the stages and phases as she matures!! And that's coming from the person who is her biggest cheerleader, so please take that seriously!! And hey, btw, if you're hoping to train/work with your dog, Karate Kid is the one!!! Soooo ready for agility or tracking or scent training and games, frisbee or searching, OMG I can see her running the agility course already and winning every event!! She really does have every potential to be the most fabulous and bestest dog ever!!! But that's if you live thru' her training, exuberant puppy stages, and near non-stop energy, haha!! Anyone up for putting in the training in the short term to have the best-ever loving, fun, happy and sweet dog for the long term??! First adoptable date: October 15th, by reservation (after meeting her in advance via "Meet and Greet".) Her adopter/s must be able to be at the Petsmart in Tysons Corner between 10am-12noon.Adopter/s must attend in person in order to finalize the adoption. ##1829006##
