Woolsey had a very sad life and after his owner died tragically he was left alone in the house and his tail was stuck and he likely could not free himself for days. He was also so thin when we rescued him.The vet explained that most of his tail could not be repaired so they had to amputate most of it. Woolsey is a strikingly beautiful dog. He walks well on a leash and is calm. He loves to play with other dogs. He is very clean in his kennel so we believe he is house trained. Meet BEANIE! Beanie is a gorgeous, 9 month old, 47 pound male brindle Plott Hound mix -- his tiger pattern and earnest gaze are hard to resist. This sweetie just had his freedom ride after spending two months at an overcapacity rural NC shelter. He is very sweet, lovable, and just wants to hang out/get attention from his humans! At about 9 months old, Beanie has puppy playfulness and is excited to meet people (of all ages) and dogs, but also nuzzles up to you for head rubs or belly rubs, and gently leans in for more. He loves playing with his toys and will cuddle with you during quiet times. Beanie is smart and already knows sit for a treat, but, as with any young dog, he will need to continue with some basic training so this young dog can become the well-behaved dog he can be. Beanie ended up at a rural North Carolina shelter, and we can only imagine how he wondered why his family did not come find him and take him home. After two months at the overcapacity shelter, he was in danger and the shelter rescue coordinator asked if we could bring this extremely sweet dog into PetConnect to save him. He is so happy that PetConnect has come to his rescue and brought him to the DC area to find a forever family that will give him the attention that he deserves and never abandon him to such a scary place as a kill-shelter ever again. Beanie would love to curl up with you to hang out on a cool fall night! Meet Star! 🌟 Star is a 4-year-old Catahoula/Hound mix with a heart every bit as big as her personality. This girl has been through more than most dogs ever should - she was shot, and the bullet went through her jaw and ear. She underwent jaw surgery, and as a result, her tongue now hangs out permanently. But Star doesn’t let her past define her. She is pure resilience wrapped in sweetness. Star is incredibly affectionate and so happy-natured. She loves to run, explore, and play, but she also knows how to wind down and melt into you for snuggles - the perfect balance of fun and companionship. She does wonderfully with kids and gets along beautifully with other dogs, but would do best in a feline-free home as her instints may lead her to chase. She enjoys car rides and would make a wonderful adventure buddy for someone who wants a loyal co-pilot by their side. She’s very smart, already knows “sit,” and uses the doggie door like a total pro. Star is spayed, fully vaccinated, and ready to find the family who will love her for the amazing, one-of-a-kind girl she is.
