She is a joyful and energetic gal who is on the hunt for a new forever home. Phoebe is a very smart lady and has mastered an impressive array of tricks and commands! She has learned to sit, stay, catch, fetch (catch and fetch can be played outside or from the couch!), jump, "touch" (her nose to your hand), and even find and retrieve objects hidden throughout the house by scent. Phoebe has incredible ball-handling skills, especially with soccer-sized balls (she loves playing monkey in the middle), and is equally happy lounging around or joining you on short jogs. She has grown into a medium-sized, funny, floppy sweetheart who brings smiles wherever she goes.Phoebe's socialization journey includes two Humane Rescue Alliance classes—basic manners and puppy kindergarten—which she passed with flying colors. She is particularly well-socialized with other dogs, exhibiting adorable 'resource-sharing' behavior by offering her toys to other dogs at the park.  However, Phoebe would ultimately do best in a cat- and kid-free home that can provide the stability and calm she needs. She would be the perfect additional companion to a home with one or more other dogs!If you would like to meet Phoebe, please submit an application today and change this beautiful girl's life forever!  Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. Story
Bruce is a fabulous example of a forgiving and loving dog that was abandoned and found himself on the streets of a small town in Tennessee.  He had nowhere to go and some kind people took him in to hold him safely while Critter Cavalry Rescue takes time to find him the best home ever.   He is a Plott hound/Pit mix from what we can see in his markings and his stature.  He is 2 years old and 65 pounds and he is one special dog that is so handsome and is truly a gentle giant!  This boy has everything going for him with great house manners and housebroken as well.  He crate trained and is living in a foster home in an apartment.  He is a medium energy young man that gets along well with the other dog in his foster home.  He loves play time outside, as well as being a snuggly couch potato. Bruce is learning to walk on leash and will need daily practice to stop pulling. He loves to ride in a car, likes carrots and ice cubes. When at home he loves to look out the window and will do that for hours.  Recently he spent some time boarding and was a favorite with the staff and he demonstrated an ability to be very sweet and easy with some of the children of the staff members.  The only NO about Bruce is that he is not fond of cats, so no feline siblings.  He would probably do best with another gentle, playful dog of his same size.  He would be fine being the only dog and always center of attention, too!  Older children over 7 years of age might be best, but only because of his size.  If you are looking for a best friend and/or family member to run, hike, play, explore, and then curl up for some couch time, Bruce is your guy!  He is so beautiful and regal.  He looks around like he is surveying his kingdom and hoping that all is well.  You could really make his life a happy ending if you could consider adopting Bruce.  Please email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and ask all the questions that you need and also ask for an adoption form. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJuly 26, 2024, 2:09 pm

Story
Female, approx. 2 years old, 50 lbs Personality: eager-to-please, smart, affectionate, goofy/funny, easygoing, adaptable, outgoing, snuggler, energetic, and playful. Greetings, humans, I am Sheba, a canine queen ready to find my own royal family. As my royal name suggests, I love to be in the spotlight meeting and greeting my subjects, both human and animal alike. I share my current palace with human and feline subjects, and if the cat ever disagrees with my royal command to play, I am wise enough to move along. Befitting of my regal stature, I am house-trained and will retire to the privacy of my royal crate when my duties have been fulfilled for the day. I also understand the words "sit", "stay", and "no," and I'm a generous ruler - except when it comes to my dinner, which I don't like to share with other dogs. (I'll happily take some of yours, though.) I love to take long walks to sniff out who's in the neighborhood and see what those pesky squirrels are up to. When I am done with my state business, I enjoy a relaxing bone chewing session or a dignified cuddle on the couch. Apply to meet me so we can take a walk while we discuss the latest royal canine gossip. ______________________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Leptospirosis, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
