Penny is an 8 year old Rat Terrier. She was adopted when she was 2 from a shelter. She has been very loved by my husband and I for almost 7 years. Unfortunately, we welcomed a new born into our home last month and Penny has been overly jealous and territorial of my husband and I, which has caused concerns for us to keep her in our home. She is a wonderful dog for adults or a home with older children. Penny loves long walks, the dog park and boat rides. Our family has a cabin and during the winter she loves going up with us and getting on the water or being a companion while we fish. Penny is very loyal and loves to cuddle. It is important to share, Penny is extremely smart, but does need an owner comfortable with working with her on leash. She walks wonderfully, but when passing unknown dogs on leash during walks she will bark. With that said, she walks wonderfully with dogs she knows and does fantastic off leash at the dog park. Looking for a kind and caring home. <3

Welcome 4-year-old Bowser to CCPAL Rescue. Bowser is a Rat Terrier mix. We think he is mixed with Dachshund. He appears to be house trained because he doesn’t like to go in his kennel even though there is a wee pad. He is smart. He is adorable and weighs about 15 pounds. He is good on a leash and knows the sit command. He is lower on the shedding scale. He loves car rides and if he is off leash and you need him to come, you can open the car door and he will jump in. The only thing he isn’t great at is nail trims. He doesn’t like them, so we let the vet techs do that at his appointments or his groomer. He would be a great walking companion. He has lived in a home with small children and did great. We would like all the children to be 8 or older. He is very affectionate and liked it when Colin held him today. He can run very fast and he comes when you call. He is good with other dogs, even when bigger than himself. He isn’t over vocal and will bond deeply to his human. Many people love the Rat Terrier breed because of their loving nature. He is currently in Texas at the CCPAL Rescue. He is getting his vaccines topped up and will be ready for his new forever home as soon as we find his placement. We think a moderately active family would be best. He is loving and cuddly but will need a yard to play in or a walk daily to get his exercise in. He is a Rat Terrier so he will have fun checking the yard for rodents. He can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Porltand, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is $200. Hi, my name is Neuf and I'm from Minnesota. From his foster: Neuf is a happy, spunky little guy. He loves to play with squeaky toys, other dogs, and run around in our yard! He’s very smart and very responsive to training since he is highly food motivated. We have been working on basic obedience and he has been picking up everything quickly! He does amazing in his crate overnight. He will whine and bark a bit before settling down, but always makes it through the night quietly. He is fully potty trained and goes to the bathroom right away when he is let out! He has some separation anxiety, which is completely understandable for a dog moving around so much. He really just wants to snuggle up to his humans and be near them. I’m certain that when he is in his forever home he will be able to work through this quickly. He is also a bit vocal when he hears new sounds in our neighborhood. He has been known to chase cats, so probably not a good fit for someone who has them. He is good with other dogs! Unsure about very young children, but I’m sure he would do well with children that are a bit older and would want to play with him! He is a good boy with so much love and snuggles to give his future family. You can’t help but smile when you see him and his little tail wagging!
