Meet Pound cake! This sweet little guy has a serious case of the “I just want to be with my people” syndrome—and honestly, we can’t blame him. Pound cake is friendly, affectionate, playful, and happiest when he’s included in whatever his humans are doing. Give him some love, a few treats, a good meal, and a toy to fetch, and you’ve got one very happy little dog! Pound cake loves people and does well with kids. He’s an enthusiastic greeter who gets so excited to see you that his whole body seems to say, “YOU’RE HERE! I LOVE YOU!” He can jump surprisingly high and occasionally uses his mouth to give a gentle little “hello,” so polite greeting manners are still on his list of things to learn. His nails can be a little sharp, too, but all of these are simply opportunities for this eager-to-please guy to keep learning. Out on walks, Pound cake is a star. He walks beautifully on leash, stays nicely to the right, and pays close attention to his person. He can get a little worked up when he sees other dogs, but he is making great progress with treats, praise, and positive redirection. In his foster home, he is also very respectful of the resident dog, and the two are gradually becoming more comfortable together. Pound cake is making good progress with housetraining, too. With regular walks, he does a great job holding his urine, although he may still have the occasional nighttime accident and is sometimes a little optimistic about his pee-pad aim. More than anything, Pound cake is looking for someone to love. He wants to be your sidekick, your fetch buddy, your treat enthusiast, and the little guy who is thrilled simply because he gets to be part of your life. He’s got a few manners to polish, but underneath it all is a wonderfully loving, affectionate dog who is ready to find his person and finally have the happy life he deserves. ❤️🐾

Hi, my name is Oreo and I am from Louisiana! If happiness came with four paws and a wagging tail, it would be me! I'm a cheerful, fun-loving pup who wakes up every day excited to see what adventures are ahead. Whether it's chasing toys, making new friends, exploring the neighborhood on walks, or soaking up attention from my people, I bring enthusiasm and joy to everything I do. One of my favorite things in the world is playtime! I absolutely love rope toys and squeaky toys and can happily entertain myself by tossing them around. I also love interactive games, especially tug. If I get a little too excited and mouthy during play, I respond well to redirection and am happy to switch my attention to a toy. I'm also an explorer at heart. On walks, I love taking my time to sniff and investigate all the sights and smells around me. My nose is always hard at work! I'm doing great with my crate training. I may whine or bark for a few minutes when first settling in, but then I relax quietly and sleep soundly through the night. With my temp foster, I've been sleeping from about 9:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. in my crate with no accidents. After a nice walk, I'm ready to settle down and rest. I've met a cat and was very curious and eager to play. My excitement was a little overwhelming for my feline friend, but I wasn't aggressive and redirected easily to toys when asked. I'm not overly food motivated and I show no signs of resource guarding with people around my food bowl. Mostly, I'm just focused on having fun and spending time with my humans! I'm working on my training as well. I've got "sit" down like a pro and I'm eager to put my smart brain to use and learn even more. I like short training sessions where I'm rewarded with my breakfast or dinner topped off with a dessert of toy! Everyone I meet quickly becomes my friend. I love people, enjoy being part of the action, and am always ready to share cuddles after playtime. My sweet personality and happy-go-lucky spirit make me the kind of dog who can brighten even the toughest day. Hi! My name is Weasel! Weasel is a sweet and enthusiastic dog who loves excitement and exploration and wants to play. He enjoys squeaky toys and chew toys, and bully sticks and kongs are his favorites. When he takes a break he likes sitting on the top of our loveseat to watch out the window at the cars that drive by. He’s very food motivated and will be your sous chef in the kitchen and will help do the pre-rinse at the dishwasher if you let him. 😂 He’s an aspiring counter surfer and will steal from your coffee table if you give him a chance. He sleeps in the kennel at night and goes in when I go to work but doesn’t enjoy it, and I find covering it at night settles him faster. He’ll do great in a home as an only dog, but amazing in a home with a dog who would play with him. From the Vet: Weasel received his final heartworm injection treatment on 8/13 - He is so close to being heartworm free he can smell it! He will need to stay extra calm for the next 30 days, but after that he can return to normal activity and be an active happy dog again! His adopters will want to continue on monthly heartworm prevention meds to make sure he stays protected and recheck a heartworm test in 9 months, but overall we expect treatment successful and there isn't evidence that he has any long term damage from his condition/treatment. Only good days ahead for Weasel!
