You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Ruthie! Ruthie's journey began when she was found as a stray, battling with her weight and struggling with skin issues. She has received lots of TLC from her foster family and is ready for her trip north to find her forever family. Despite her rough start, Ruthie is as sweet as they come and gets along famously with other dogs. Her typical day starts bright and early, with some outdoor time before heading in for breakfast. Then it's off to the yard for some playtime with her furry friends. In the afternoon, Ruthie spends a bit of time in her crate, likely catching up on some well-deserved rest. Come evening, she's ready for another tasty meal. But perhaps Ruthie's most endearing quality is her trademark wiggle! With a wagging tail and a happy demeanor, she's sure to bring joy to any household. If you're looking for a loving companion who's always up for some fun, Ruthie might just be the perfect match for you! Ruthie currently lives with small dogs and adults. She has not met cats or children. Ruthie is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 3/9/2024 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 530PM and 830PM. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame.  Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Spott! Spott has become a world traveler, all before he has found his forever family! Originally hailing from the picturesque islands of Turks and Caicos, Spott's journey began when he found himself in the care of the local SPCA, where he was part of a program aimed at finding loving homes for stray dogs. As a veterinary technician, his foster mom spent a month on the island, assisting with high-volume spay/neuter efforts for the local communities. Spot quickly became a beloved member of the team, but with the island's abundance of large wandering dogs, they knew he'd be safer elsewhere. So, Spot embarked on a journey to find his forever home, he made his way to Texas with his foster mom and soon will be on his way to Minnesota! This little guy is as sweet as they come! With a heart of gold and not a mean bone in his body, Spot is a breeze to care for. He's already mastered the art of potty training and is happy to use a pee pad if needed. Plus, he's a pro in the crate and gets along famously with both dogs and cats. Spot isn't the least bit nippy and would make an ideal companion for just about anyone! When it comes to bedtime, Spot is content snoozing away in his kennel, though he wouldn't say no to sharing a cozy bed with his humans. He eagerly awaits breakfast and dinner, but his absolute favorite part of the day is when his foster mom returns home from work. Spot enjoys a bit of playtime in the evenings, but he's not overly demanding when it comes to exercise. This little dancer loves nothing more than snuggling up as close as possible and showering his humans with kisses. With his easygoing nature and affectionate personality, Spot could easily adapt to any living situation. All he asks for is a warm lap to cuddle in and, of course, plenty of treats to go around! Spott currently lives with big and small dogs, cats and adults. Spott is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 3/9/2024and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 530PM and 830PM. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because they need treatment, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program. Click here to learn more about this program. They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you.   Click here to learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Pinky is from Texas. She was found wandering the streets there and brought into rescue after her stray hold was up. Pinky was a skinny, scared little pup with some skin issues when she was found, but has been given proper nutrition and veterinary care while in rescue and has absolutely flourished! Now it is time to find her a home of her very own here in Minnesota! A little about sweet Pinky...she is completely potty-trained (pad trained- going outside is still a work in progress) and crate-trained. But if we're being completely honest, her crate is her absolute least favorite place in the world...haha! This little peanut is just a little ball of energy that wants to play, play, play! And, let's face it, that's not going to happen in her crate! She does need to be crated when left alone, however, more to save her from herself than anything else. Outside (or inside...she's not picky!) playtime is the absolute highlight of her day! She loves playing with toys and her little doggie foster siblings. Pinky has been adjusting to Minnesota weather, and figuring out this snow business! She immediately warmed up to her foster mom and dad. We are still working on some potty stuff (the snow isn't helping!) but overall doing good! She is working on her crate time and does well with it covered. She may do well in a home with a confident cat, who does not run when chased. She can be a bit bossy and pushy, in typical Chihuahua fashion, and loves to hide her "treasured" possessions in an adorable way! She enjoys snuggle time, and sleeps hard once she is all tucked in and comfortable! She is a very busy, happy gal. Pinky is looking for a family that is willing to take her on daily walks, so she can sniff and explore her new surroundings. She would also love a home that lets her up on the furniture because let's be honest...what's better than puppy snuggles while you watch TV? Absolutely nothing! Pinky is a young pup with lots of energy looking for a patient, playful, and loving family to live out all of her days with. She does like to sing the song of her people, so places with shared walls may not be the best fit. If you think you might be the one to give this sweet little girl the happily ever after she so justly deserves, please fill out an adoption application today! She can't wait to meet you!
