Story
**Hi, I'm Trevor, and I'd like to file a formal complaint that everyone keeps insisting I'm a "large dog."** I identify as a 10-pound lap dog (I’m really 69 pounds), thank you very much. If you sit down, congratulations—you've volunteered to become my personal recliner. I never met a stranger. Seriously. If there is a human within eyesight, I *must* go introduce myself. Family, friends, the mail carrier, random people at events... they're all my new besties. I may enthusiastically offer a paw (or my entire body) as a greeting, but I'm learning that not everyone appreciates being loved at full speed. I'm basically a giant puppy with a heart twice my size. I love adventures, car rides, hiking, playing with dog friends my size, chewing on durable toys, and then rewarding myself by snuggling directly on top of my favorite humans. Personal space? Never heard of it. Now, let's address the elephant... or should I say the Rottweiler... in the room. Walking me isn't for the faint of heart. I have muscles, opinions, and occasionally believe I should be in charge of choosing our destination. If you've got experience with big, stubborn dogs and a pocket full of tasty treats, we'll make an excellent team. (I'm very food motivated once I decide cooperation sounds like a good idea.) My foster family says I sometimes look like I'm missing a few crayons from the box. That's rude. I'm not confused—I'm simply evaluating whether your request fits into my very busy schedule. I'm house-trained, crate-trained, know "sit," and love having a cozy crate to relax in. I'm happiest when I'm with my people instead of being left behind. I do best with older kids since I sometimes forget my own size, and I prefer dog friends who enjoy my over-the-top "LET'S BE BEST FRIENDS!" wrestling style. Big, unfamiliar barking dogs can make me nervous, but otherwise I greet life with a wagging tail and endless optimism. If you're looking for a calm, reserved gentleman... keep scrolling. If you're looking for a goofy, affectionate, adventure-loving cuddle monster who will keep you laughing, steal your lap, and love you with his whole giant heart, I think we should meet.

Story
This handsome Rottweiler has been through more than any dog should, but his spirit remains strong. He is scheduled to have one of his back legs amputated and is looking for a loving foster home where he can safely recover and begin his next chapter. He'll need a calm, patient caregiver who can provide a comfortable place to rest, help with his post-surgical care, and shower him with the love he deserves. Like many dogs recovering from a major surgery, he'll benefit from a quiet environment and a consistent routine. He does best as the only dog, or with very slow, carefully managed introductions to another calm dog. Right now, his focus needs to be on healing, building confidence, and adjusting to life on three legs. Tripods are incredibly resilient, and with the right support, he has every opportunity to enjoy a happy, active life. If you have room in your heart and home to help this courageous boy recover, you'll be making a life-changing difference.     ##2751993##

Story
**Bear is available through our Adoption Ambassador Program and is not onsite at the shelter! Call 320-252-0896 to arrange a meet-and-greet** Meet Dr. Doctor—though his friends simply call him Bear! Bear is a sweet boy who may need a little time to warm up to new people, but once he gets comfortable, his happy and joyful personality shines through. He has been described as a confident dog who enjoys making the most of every day. He is lucky enough to be staying in a foster home, where he is doing just great with the resident dog. "He is such a sweetie towards me and protective of us and our home. He does this thing where he puts his head into you and then pushes against you. He loves to sleep with a human and doesn’t stir all night." He loves always being near his foster. As far as the cats in the foster home, Bear does like to chase them. Some of them hold their ground with him, but Bear might do best in a home without cats. Bear seems to be mostly housetrained, his foster reports, and he is responding well to training. He knows "sit" and is getting really skilled at waiting to eat until he's told "eat." In his previous home, Bear was comfortable both being kenneled and free-roaming in the house. He lived with children and did very well with them. As with any new pet, slow and proper introductions to new faces and places are always recommended to help everyone adjust successfully. Bear can be enthusiastic on leash and may pull during walks. If you're looking for a way to make walks more enjoyable, ask TCHS staff about the Emily Weiss Walkie available in our Re-Tail Shoppe. Consistent training and positive reinforcement can help Bear continue building good leash manners. If you're searching for a loyal companion with a big heart, a joyful spirit, and a name impressive enough to have earned two diplomas, Bear may be the perfect fit for your family! *Adoption Ambassador (AA) animals are available for adoption but reside in a TCHS foster home instead of in the shelter. Meet-and-greets are scheduled in a first-come, first-served manner. Adoption holds are NOT accepted on AA animals unless the potential adopter has already met the animal. If you are interested in meeting this AA pet, meet-and-greets may be scheduled by calling 320-252-0896. *Adoption holds may be placed on available animals in person or by calling 320-252-0896. An adoption hold reserves available animals for one day after the animal is ready to be adopted. More than one adoption hold may be placed on an available animal and will be honored in the order they were received. Adoption holds are $25 plus tax, are non-refundable, non-transferable and not applied toward the adoption fee. **Minnesota sales tax and an administrative fee ($20 for cats/dogs and $10 for small animals) will be applied to all adoptions. Donations and adoption fees help cover the cost of spay/neuter surgeries, microchipping, vaccinating, deworming, any medical procedures, and general care of all shelter animals. Age: DOB 12/13/2024 Dog friendly: Yes, another dog required in her home Cat friendly: Unknown/not tested Kid friendly: No, Pumpkin would do best in an adults only home. Potty trained: Yes, on a schedule Crate trained: Yes ***Needs companion dog in home*** Sweet Pumpkin is a friendly, affectionate pup who came to us all the way from the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota, where she was living as a stray puppy all alone. When she first arrived, she was scared and unsure with her tail tucked. With strangers, she does still have an initial wariness, but once you are part of her trusted circle, she quickly comes out of her shell. She is a goofy and playful girl who LOVES to cuddle up in your lap, chew on bones and chase balls. Pumpkin is full of affection and gets along great with other dogs. She's also very smart and well-behaved, she's never chewed on anything she's not supposed to, and she's never had a potty accident indoors. She's a pretty quiet girl, but will make noise at appropriate times - which isn't often. She sleeps with the resident dogs at night and happily spends portions of her day quietly in a crate. Pumpkin still has some puppy energy, so she would thrive in a home with a fenced yard. However, as long as she gets daily walks or runs, she'd do just as well without one. Pumpkin's foster family will miss her dearly, but we know she'll bring copious amounts of love to her forever home! Adoption Fee: $425

Story
Welcome Rocky to CCPAL Rescue. He is a Rottweiler or Shepherd/Bulldog is our best guess on breed. He has a beautiful grey coat that is shorter and he is athletic and friendly. He weighs about 50 pounds and is a good weight and is about 1.5 years old. He has new adult teeth that are still nice and clean. He would be perfect for a runner, walker, jogger, hiker or athletic and outdoorsy family. He loves all people so you won’t have any trouble with him meeting new people. He would love to join a family on all their adventures. He is good in his kennel and goes potty in his outdoor space. He hasn’t been reactive when we had him on leash. He is a head turner for sure. He is getting his vaccinations and will be neutered and ready for his forever home in a couple of weeks. He is outgoing and would be fine with a family that has children. We would like children to be 8 or older. Rocky is not a big shedding dog. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally in Texas. We can also work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions.
