Story
Cooper, Blue Heeler, 4.5 yrs., 40-45 lbs. Cooper tends to be shy at first but warms up pretty quick. He has a lot of energy and loves playing with Junie going on walks and exploring with her. He LOVES attention. He is a very loving and loyal dog with the silliest personality. I think he may be more human than dog. He gets along with other dogs but does take a minute to acclimate to them. He loves to give kisses (I think he was a lizard in his past life…hahaha). Junie, Australian Shepherd/Heeler, 4.5 yrs., 40-45 lbs. Junie is a very loving and loyal dog. She is the boss and loves keeping Cooper in line. She likes to go on walks and explore with him. She gets along with other dogs great, but she will growl when she has had her fill. She will not nip or bite. She is a bit more relaxed and laid back than Cooper, but still loves to play around with him. She also is a bit of an attention hog. She will stare through your soul until you acknowledge her. She is very in tune with human emotion and will snuggle with you when you are sad. She’s a very sweet soul. She also may be more human than dog. They are a bonded pair. They have grown up together and I would hate to separate them. They are soulmates and I would love for them to stay together. I understand that this is a lot to ask, but they are so worth it! We are having to re-home them due to a move across the country. This means we will be living out of a small camper and traveling all over the southeast. I don’t feel that this is a fair life for my pups to live. They love to run and play, and they wouldn’t get this freedom if they came with us.

Story
Ani is a dog lover’s dream! She’s just under a year old, weighs just under 40 lbs, and is flying just under the radar and we aren’t sure why! Ani is believed to be an Australian Cattle Dog mix. She is SOOOOOOPER solid with her house training, she’s crate trained, and even dog door trained. Let me clear on the sooooooper part, she’s house trained even when the doggie door is closed. IDK about your dogs, but mine can’t do that. While she’s a beautiful girl, she leans more towards nerdy and tomboy type interests. Shopping isn’t for her. She does get super excited for car rides, but she hopes they end in doggie training classes. She’s a teacher’s pet for sure. She’s extremely food motivated and is fluent in 4 languages. She’s picking up Mandarin next. You know the type, book smart, street dumb? That’s kind of her. When she’s not busy solving the Pythagorean theorem, you can find her buried in blankets in her crate (much like one would expect from a giant chihuahua), playing with toys, or stealing your socks to add to her collection. Ani is great with a variety of dogs. While she’s agile and athletic, she’s fine with canine types that aren’t. She does prefer more mature humans, though. No small toddler types for her. She also is a great walker and would make a wonderful trail companion. Ani is in foster in Longmont, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/ani/. Story
It’s only fitting that the tiniest of the puppies from this litter is named after an all time favorites teeny bopper, Debbie Gibson. It’s true, you’ll get lost in her eyes. She will make sure your children have an electric youth. And if you just can’t shake her love, then please apply! Debbie is a 12 week old Heeler mix (prob with a splash of boxer and a bit of Corgi). She’s a sweet, playful girl looking for her forever family! Her mom is 30 lbs so we feel she will also be a medium sized girl once she’s full grown. Debbie Gibson is in foster in Fort Collins, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/debbie-gibson/. Story
Mateo is a cute heeler pup that has so much to offer. He is very loving and bonds quickly to his humans. In fact, his whole face lights up with happiness when he feels safe. He is very submissive to other dogs and wants to play with them but reads the room really well. Mateo has a good bit of energy and would love a home with people who like to hike and be active. He would not do well left alone or being in a kennel during the day for hours of time. He loves to play and would benefit from another playful dog in the home. Mateo is a very smart, curious boy that’s eager to please. He is good around cats and kids(12+), too! Mateo is in foster in Louisville, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/mateo. Story
We’d like to introduce you to our very own Lt. Dan! This stunning, tri-color, tri-pawed, boy is approx 6-7 months old. He came to MHCR as kind of a unique situation. His family reached out for help with the cost of an amputation surgery due to a bad break in his leg. In an effort to keep him in his home, we agreed. Unfortunately, they changed their minds and decided they no longer wanted him. We couldn’t leave him hanging, so pulled him from the shelter and got him his surgery then brought him to foster in Colorado. Lt. Dan is crate and house trained. He zips around faster than any dog with 4 legs that I’ve ever seen (which is impressive given he only has 3). He’s cat friendly and dog friendly! The Heeler in him calls for a home with older kiddos as he can be kinda mouthy when playing or when excited. Lt. Dan’s humans should have a fenced in yard and a passion for smart dogs. Lt. Dan loves to learn and he’s food motivated, which makes training a breeze! Lt. Dan is in foster in Longmont, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/lt-dan/. Story
Adorable Abby is a petite, 6 month old, Cattle Dog mix. Abby was dumped on a dirt road in Texas with a chihuahua friend. They were picked up and brought to a local rescue and then awaited transport to MHCR. Given what she’s been through, Abby is a bit reluctant to trust new people. She overcomes this fairly quickly and finds great comfort in her known humans and canines. Abby is crate trained and does well on a leash. She’s not a social butterfly but does enjoy jaunts around the block or even hikes! Abby is loyal to the core and smart as a whip. She is a professional cuddler when it comes time to settle down. Abby will thrive in a home that isn’t super busy and has older or no children. We also feel she’s best suited with another dog and a fenced yard. Abby is in foster in Denver, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/abby/.
