Story
Cooper, Blue Heeler, 4.5 yrs., 40-45 lbs. Cooper tends to be shy at first but warms up pretty quick. He has a lot of energy and loves playing with Junie going on walks and exploring with her. He LOVES attention. He is a very loving and loyal dog with the silliest personality. I think he may be more human than dog. He gets along with other dogs but does take a minute to acclimate to them. He loves to give kisses (I think he was a lizard in his past life…hahaha). Junie, Australian Shepherd/Heeler, 4.5 yrs., 40-45 lbs. Junie is a very loving and loyal dog. She is the boss and loves keeping Cooper in line. She likes to go on walks and explore with him. She gets along with other dogs great, but she will growl when she has had her fill. She will not nip or bite. She is a bit more relaxed and laid back than Cooper, but still loves to play around with him. She also is a bit of an attention hog. She will stare through your soul until you acknowledge her. She is very in tune with human emotion and will snuggle with you when you are sad. She’s a very sweet soul. She also may be more human than dog. They are a bonded pair. They have grown up together and I would hate to separate them. They are soulmates and I would love for them to stay together. I understand that this is a lot to ask, but they are so worth it! We are having to re-home them due to a move across the country. This means we will be living out of a small camper and traveling all over the southeast. I don’t feel that this is a fair life for my pups to live. They love to run and play, and they wouldn’t get this freedom if they came with us.

Story
I am a male, black & white spotted mix, neutered, and up to date on all my vaccines. I weigh 65 lbs. and am looking for my forever home! I am a sweet boy who loves my “PERSON” and will happily follow them from room to room, lay on their feet when still or sit next to them on the couch, I love car rides, playing tug-o-war, and chasing my Kong stick outside (more keep away than fetch). I experience a bit of separation anxiety the first few days in a new environment and really just want to be where people are. I love to give kisses to everyone I meet! We have been working on my leash manners but a home with a yard is preferred. I know all the basic commands (sit, stay, place, heel, down) but can be stubborn so someone who is willing to continue my training and be consistent is ideal. I have exhibited some resource guarding with small children and would do better in a home with older, respectful children. I have done well meeting my foster family’s cat but all meetings have been supervised and short. I enjoy being around and playing with other dogs when properly introduced. A home without small children is a must and maybe even feline free would be beneficial. My new owner/s will be familiar with resource guarding issues and will be confident and comfortable in handling me. In return I will be a loving, loyal, faithful companion who will slobber his new family with lots of kisses!!! I am potty trained.

Story
Dahlia (aka Mila) is loyal, sweet and eager to please her humans. She walks really well on a lead in a heel position, looking for direction. Mila is dog and kid friendly. We have not yet tested her with cats, but we believe she would be good with a dog savvy cat. She’s approximately 1yr old and fully grown at 40 lb. We believe she’s a Cattle Dog or German Shorthair Pointer mix. In either case, she’s a working dog and pretty active, so will require physical and mental enrichment. She came to Colorado from Oklahoma and is quickly gaining confidence. She’s very smart and already learned a number of commands, including sit, down, paw, and come. She is mostly housebroken but was recently spayed and has had a couple of pee accidents. When she is stressed or anxious, she’s occasionally marked. We are working with her on this and with patience and consistency, should grow out of it soon. There is plenty of life now to flourish and feel love for this sweet girl, who was apparently kept outside her entire life and then left in a backyard when her owner moved. If you have a comfy couch and an empty lap to share, Mila would love to meet you! She is fully vetted and healthy and ready to go home ASAP!

Story
Adorable Abby is a petite, 6 month old, Cattle Dog mix. Abby was dumped on a dirt road in Texas with a chihuahua friend. They were picked up and brought to a local rescue and then awaited transport to MHCR. Given what she’s been through, Abby is a bit reluctant to trust new people. She overcomes this fairly quickly and finds great comfort in her known humans and canines. Abby is crate trained and does well on a leash. She’s not a social butterfly but does enjoy jaunts around the block or even hikes! Abby is loyal to the core and smart as a whip. She is a professional cuddler when it comes time to settle down. Abby will thrive in a home that isn’t super busy and has older or no children. We also feel she’s best suited with another dog and a fenced yard. Abby is being fostered in Denver, Colorado. *We require all adopters to come to Colorado to adopt. *We do not transport dogs. * You can view this wonderful dog at https://www.milehighcanine.org/post/dogs/abby/.
