Story
Hi, I’m Theo, a 1 year old, 45 lb., heeler/husky x. You can say I have a zest for life. I mean, look at my smile! I had a home before coming to PAW, but I was surrendered because my previous owner didn’t have time for me. At first, I was sad, but I made lots of canine friends at the dog shelter, like Bosley, who also hitched a ride with me to PAW. As much fun as I am having with Bosley and my other friends, I still long for a forever home. Ideally, my forever family would spend time playing with me, giving me lots of belly rubs, and perhaps have another dog I can play with. I also heard that this area has lots of dog parks. If so, I’d love to visit! You can say I’m a social butterfly, but just with four paws. The nice people at PAW promised to find me a forever home and, in return, I promise to bring a smile to your face and love you forever. My handler for one of the adoption events also took me to her home to play with her two dogs.  After spending time with me, she said:  "I am a big fan of Theo!  He is affectionate and calm,  rode well in my car (seemed to enjoy looking out the window), and was friendly to other dogs both at the adoption event and at my house. He checked out our yard, played some, and was not at all rough or threatening to my dogs.  He sat when asked (especially if it is for a treat!) and used the doggie door.  He does not seem to know other commands yet and will need some instruction for walking on a leash as he is enthusiastic and pulls some, but he takes notice if he is told 'no' or to 'wait' ".  She would encourage people to come meet me and join her fan club! From another volunteer: Theo is affectionate, attentive, pretty calm, rides well in car (in fact, seemed to enjoy looking out backseat window). While he didn’t want to play the whole time, he was friendly to our 2 dogs, interacted some, and was not at all rough or threatening. He followed them without hesitation thru our doggie door. He is always looking for treats, sits readily when told to, but as far as I could tell doesn’t know other commands and is a little hard to walk on a leash just because he is strong and enthusiastic. He would pause from pulling and look at me when I spoke to him and stayed closer after a little while. PAW places animals in the Washington, DC/Baltimore Metropolitan area only. ##1816309##

Story
*** COURTESY POST *** Lisa, a 3 month old (DOB 6/16/23), 10 lb., heeler/hound mix was surrendered to a shelter with her littermate, Lylla. Both were underweight and full of fleas. Lucky for them, the shelter staff nursed them back to good health and now they're both in a foster home! Lisa and Lylla are both great with cats and other dogs. They are crate-trained and learning how to alert their foster mom when they need to go outside. They are so smart- they're already picking up basic asks like "sit," "down," "go," and "crate." Lisa needs to find a home with people that will give her plenty of love, stability, and activity! She IS a puppy of course... Interested in adopting sweet Lisa? Story
Mojo was found as a stray and we made every effort to find his owners but to no avail. He is an Aussie mix and of course with the breed comes high activity. I will say that he loves his down time though! He is NOT an apartment dog. He needs a good sized fenced yard. He is not great in a crowd of dogs but will do well with a sister or brother to play with. He hasn't been tested with cats so we don't know about that. The vet believes his age to be about 6 years. He's neutered, vaccinated, crate trained and heart worm negative. He is more than ready for his forever home! ADOPTION FEE $400 PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION!

Story
This precious girl came from one of the worst hoarding situations that we have ever dealt with. there were over 100 dogs on the property, none of them spayed or neutered. Finally, the authorities went in and they managed to get ALL of the dogs out of there. Filthy dirty situation, sick puppies, you name it. We choose to take Blossom home to our rescue because her eyes were begging us for love and attention. She was very pregnant and two weeks after arriving, she gave birth to 7 heathy puppies! Every single puppy was different, every singe puppy had a different daddy! We think that Blossom had never been paid any attention to because she was so shy. Once we weaned her babies we took her out of the nursery and into the house where she just blossomed! That's how she got her name! Her puppies have long since been adopted and now it's her turn. We actually did a DNA on her and it came back with 4 different breeds, which we kind of figured from the beginning. Australian Cattle Dog, Labrador Retriever, Pit Bull, Boxer. Yes, she is truly a "Mutt!: She is extremely smart and will do anything for a treat. I want her to have a nice fenced yard with lots of room to run. Cattle dogs are working dogs and they need lots of exercise! She is spayed, crate trained, fully vaccinated, microchipped and house broken, truly a gem! Ready for immediate transport. ADOPTION FEE $400 PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION!

Story
Blue Merlin is true blue to his Blue Heeler breed traits. He is all about being in charge and knowing where he is headed in life. This 2-3 year old boy is 40 pounds and a very loyal companion once you earn his trust.  Smart dogs don’t give their hearts to just anyone.  They want an owner to be smarter and as focused in life as they are.  Blue Merlin loves to have you get that leash out and go on adventurous walks He is housebroken, fine in the house uncrated for the day and he loves running around the fenced yard and playing with other dogs and having the time of his life.  He was part of an Amish breeder colony a few months ago and they decided he was not to be a stud anymore and gave him up to a woman who is a traveling nurse who didn't have a consistent home life for him.  has been around cats and wants them to play and if they don't ....he will bark at them for sport but NEVER hurts one. The Blue Heeler breed is so very focused on their people and Merlin is totally concerned that he meet your every need for the day.  He is the perfect PAL in life.  He is all about love and getting your attention and praise.  He has lots of love waiting for the right someone and there will never be a smarter dog that you will own than Blue Merlin.  Please email us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.   PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.October 2, 2023, 8:46 pm

Story
My name is Midge and I am a Heeler mix puppy born May 16th to a Heeler momma who raised us with love.  The family who did not spay my momma has reached out to Critter Cavalry Rescue to help find homes for me and my 3 other siblings.  I am a smart little cutie pie but I honestly do not know who my dad was.  Momma was a Heeler and she is a very good natured dog.  I am very smart, will probably be a 45 pound adult dog and I love every living creature.   I just need a smart owner who is experienced and who will exercise me every day.  I have so much potential and definitely the pretty good looks.  If you are interested in adopting me please email Critter Cavalry Rescue for an adoption form:  ccrtennessee@gmail.com   I am ready to pack my puppy overnight bag and go home with YOU!!!!!!! PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comOctober 2, 2023, 8:46 pm
