Story
Dodge is a toung, strikingly handsome Blue Heeler/Lab mix with a bright spirit to match his good looks. About one year old and weighing 43 pounds, this mostly black shiny boy has a beautiful gray-speckled chest that gives him a regal, eye-catching look. With longer legs and a slimmer build than a typical Heeler, he carries himself with confidence and athletic grace. Whatever breeds make up his DNA, one thing is certain — Dodge is sweet, playful, and incredibly smart.   Dodge’s story began in the countryside, where he arrived at a rental home alongside a female Heeler mix and their six puppies. When the family couldn’t keep dogs, a cattle dog rescue stepped in to save the puppies, the mama was rehomed, and Dodge found his way to Critter Cavalry Rescue so he could be fully vetted and matched with the perfect home. Still very much a puppy at heart, Dodge brings goofy charm, happy energy, and a love of life wherever he goes. A fenced yard and an active household will help him burn off his enthusiasm and enjoy the adventures he craves.   He gets along wonderfully with dogs of all ages and sizes, is respectful of cats, and would likely be a hit with kids who can keep up with his playful nature. Dodge is learning leash skills quickly and would make an excellent walking partner. He’s eager to learn, quick to please, and happiest when he’s close to his people, watching over them and soaking up attention. With continued training, Dodge is going to be an incredible lifelong companion. If you’re ready for a fun, smart, and loyal sidekick, email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and tell us your city and state. Transport is available from Tennessee to the northeastern states. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 6, 2026, 11:52 pm

This happy girl - seriously, are you kidding with that smile?! - has got all that awesome young-dog energy and is eager for sniffy trotting walks and all the adventures her new humans can dream up (heeler mixes and their energy - IYKYK!). She matches the energy and play style of every single dog she meets and loves every dog and person. She is a true couch potato who would sleep all day only to wake for breakfast and dinner which she is so excited for every single time. She has learned sit and has not had any accidents in her foster home. Her permanent smile makes any day instantly brighter. She does not live with kids but is the gentlest soul ever and has met many out and about and is great with them! Wherever her pack is, she is, a true Velcro pup. She also has an iconic sploot. She is the best every day errand pal too, just an absolute bestie. She hangs in coffee shops and falls right to sleep under the table, only to wake when new friends come to greet her. HARVEY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Come meet Harvey and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (1/4) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Alexandria, VA (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)!     Name: Harvey        Best Guess for Breed:  Lab and border collie mix Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of April 2025         SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight: 37 lbs   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at: DC area foster home.  Special Adoption Considerations: Because Harvey is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog who will show him the ropes.   Harvey is Looking For:  His forever family! He's got all that awesome young-dog energy and is eager to have his own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in the park, and exploring the world - he hasn't seen nearly enough of it. He'd love to make pup pals along the way, too. Quality kibble, cushy dog beds, peanut butter-filled Kongs - yes, please. But you know what he wants most of all? To know where he belongs, to know he's safe and loved for all his days. What do you say? Is this intriguing pup (doesn't his face just give Phantom of the Opera vibes?) the one you see by your side?   What Shelter Staff Say About Harvey: Harvey spent some time on the Dogs Playing For Life Canine Center campus in Florida. There, he received basic training and enrichment, and socialized with other dogs. Harvey worked on the Sit and Place commands there. He also worked on loose leash walking and sitting at open doors, waiting to be released to go out. He also got to play with enrichment toys such as food-filled Kongs and food puzzles. He loved participating in doggie playgroup - he's very dog social. He enjoys playing chase and wrestling - he likes playing with dogs who have a similar playstyle. What My Foster Says About Me: Harvey a very sweet boy who wants to learn, listen and please. He enjoys playing with other dogs in the dog park and finds comfort from other dogs.  He is playful at daycare.   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Story
Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.cutie pie looking for forever family! LINDA NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Linda        Best Guess for Breed:  Cattle dog and corgi mix   Best Guess for Age:  3.5 years as of December 2025      SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight:  21 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  South Carolina shelter - needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here!   Special adoption considerations: Linda is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!   Linda is Looking For:  Her forever home! We don't know her back story but it might not have been all that awesome. Her gait is a bit off in the left hip. X-rays show old pelvic fractures that healed a bit off and now her range of motion in that leg is a bit off. Know what's not off? Her love, her loyalty, and her sense of adventure. Linda can't wait for her fresh start - can't wait to get her own family for all the adventures that well-loved family pets can get - and all those snuggles.    She has so many adoring gazes, so much loyal companionship to offer. What do you say? Is she the one you see by your side?   What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once she has spent time in foster care.    Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
