Story
â¤ï¸ Blue Sassy: The Dog Who Still Has So Much Love Left to Give ❤️ Sometimes a rescue story finds you, and before you know it, you’ve become part of a journey that desperately deserves a happy ending. Blue Sassy is a 9-year-old Blue Heeler who spent her entire life with one man who adored her. He raised her from a puppy, and every night she slept beside him. She wasn’t just his dog—she was his comfort, his companion, and his therapy through life’s challenges. A few months ago, her owner reached out to Critter Cavalry Rescue with a heartbreaking request. His health was failing, and he was being forced to move somewhere his beloved dogs could not follow. Through tears, he asked us to help. When Blue Sassy came into rescue, she finally received the veterinary care she hadn’t had in years. During her spay and wellness exam, we discovered she was diabetic. The untreated diabetes had also affected her eyesight, leaving her with limited vision. But here’s the remarkable thing about Blue Sassy… She doesn’t feel sorry for herself. She wakes up every day happy. She greets people with a smile. She loves to explore the yard with her nose leading the way. She loves ear scratches, belly rubs, curling up on the couch, and most of all, sitting in your lap soaking up affection. She still has all the intelligence, confidence, and personality that make Blue Heelers such incredible companions. Her foster family absolutely adores her. Blue Sassy would do best in a home with minimal stairs and easy access to the outdoors for potty breaks. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs, loves children, and enjoys being around people. While her vision isn’t perfect, she navigates her world surprisingly well and adapts with the resilience dogs are famous for. Her diabetes is manageable with twice-daily insulin injections, given about 12 hours apart. The insulin itself is affordable, and the injections are quick and easy. Other than her diabetes, her bloodwork and health checks have been excellent. What Blue Sassy needs now isn’t pity. She needs someone who sees beyond a diagnosis and recognizes the loving, loyal, funny, affectionate dog standing right in front of them. At 9 years old, she still has plenty of life to live, plenty of cuddles to give, and plenty of memories left to make. Age is only a number, and Blue Sassy’s heart is as young as ever. Could you be the person who gives this sweet girl the next chapter she deserves? If you’d like to learn more about Blue Sassy, please email ccrtennessee@gmail.com. She has already been someone’s whole world once. We’d love to find her another family to love just as deeply       PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJuly 16, 2026, 8:58 pm

Story
Stripe is a handsome 2-year-old cattle dog with a distinctive stripe and a personality that's hard to miss. He forms strong bonds with his people and loves being part of whatever is going on around him. Whether you're working, relaxing, or heading out for a walk, Stripe is happiest when he can be nearby. He enjoys ear scratches, belly rubs, and plenty of attention—and isn't shy about reminding you when he thinks it's time for more. At 2&1/2 years and only 36 pounds, Stripe can fit in many homes. Like many cattle dogs, Stripe is smart, curious, and likes to stay engaged. He's currently recovering from heartworm treatment, so his activity is restricted for now, but he enjoys exploring the world on leisurely walks. He's excellent on leash and prefers to take his time, investigating every interesting smell along the way. He's shown friendly interest in other dogs on walks and curiosity about neighborhood cats, though he has not been extensively tested with either while in recovery. Stripe is looking for a home that understands the needs of an active, people-oriented dog. He would thrive with someone who is home much of the day and enjoys having a loyal companion by their side. Because Stripe can be cautious when meeting new people and has some herding-dog tendencies, we believe a home with adults or older dog-savvy children would be the best fit.   The good news is that Stripe has already completed the injection phase of his heartworm treatment and is now in the final stage of recovery. Once he's medically cleared, he'll be able to gradually increase his activity level and get back to doing what active young dogs do best. PAW has covered all treatment costs and will continue to provide support throughout his recovery. This sweet, devoted boy is looking for a patient adopter who appreciates an affectionate dog with a little extra personality. In return, Stripe promises to be a loyal companion, dedicated walking partner, and enthusiastic supervisor of your daily activities. PAW adopts in the MD, northern VA, DC, and southern PA region ##2683912##

Story
Bluey greets the world with her whole heart! At 35 pounds and three years old, this sweet southern girl is curious, affectionate, endlessly enthusiastic, and always ready for her next adventure. She came to PAW from South Carolina and is enjoying every new sight, sound, and smell she's discovering here in Maryland. Bluey loves getting out for walks, where she happily investigates the neighborhood one sniff at a time. She's excited to meet new people, interested in other dogs, and is still polishing her leash manners—sometimes weaving around your feet or bursting into a happy trot when something catches her attention. She's smart, treat-motivated, and eager to learn, making her a wonderful candidate for continued training. With her soft coat, adorable little bobtail, and shorter legs, Bluey is as cute as she is lovable. She adores pets, ear rubs, hugs, and kisses, and she's happiest when she has people and adventures to share them with. She'd make a wonderful walking or hiking companion for someone ready to help this bright, energetic girl continue learning about the world. PAW adopts in Maryland, DC, northern VA, and southern PA. ##2774528##

Story
Meet Daemon!Daemon is a sweet, soulful boy who thrives with people that respect his boundaries and let him settle in at his own pace. So he’s looking for a calm, understanding home where he can feel safe and comfortable.Daemon would do best as the only pet in the home and would likely be happiest in a quieter neighborhood with less dog traffic. He can become uncomfortable with prolonged petting, so he’s looking for a family that will pay attention to his body language and give him space when he needs it. Because of this, he may do best with older children who can understand and respect his boundaries.A fenced yard would be ideal for Daemon so he can relax and enjoy his outdoor time comfortably. Once he feels secure, Daemon’s loving and loyal personality really shines. He’s looking for a patient family that will give him the understanding he deserves If you are interested in adopting Daemon, please contact his foster at katebedding8@gmail.com to arrange a meet and greet.
