Story
Maybe is the kind of dog who seems to read your mind & know exactly when you need a nudge, a paw, or a snuggle. She’s incredibly loyal & affectionate w/her people & great w/dogs. She’s a very loved dog whose story took a heartbreaking turn w/the arrival of her person’s newborn baby, who triggered her sensitivity & reactivity in a way no one could've anticipated. For everyone's safety, her family had to make the very painful decision to find her a new home. It's a decision made out of love, not convenience & her persons heart is breaking. She shines around dogs & would likely do best in a home w/a canine friend who can help her feel confident & secure but it's not a dealbreaker. She'll take patience to warm up & trust you but when she does, she'll be completely devoted. She's housebroken, good when you’re gone, does not resource guard & knows potty bells & dog doors. Age 4, 55lbs. Vibe: clever, playful, chill, average energy, PicVids: https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B22JtdOXmJ80eB7

Story
Koda is a beautiful, loving 7-year-old Australian Shepherd/Border Collie Mix (~65 lbs). Sadly, he's struggling to adjust to life with our toddler, and we want to explore finding him the right home where he can truly thrive. Could Your House be Koda's Ideal Home? - No children, no cats, and no other dogs (he may be ok with one other dog with a slow introduction as he is dog reactive and has a strong prey drive). - Ideally a home in a suburban or rural area where he can run and play - A family who understands herding breeds, respects their intelligence, and can provide him with both physical and mental stimulation. - A family who enjoys and prioritizes engaging with their dog consistently every day. He loves scent work, puzzle feeders, and training sessions and likely would love barn hunting/ herding. His personality is opinionated, but deeply loving. He responds to respect and positive reinforcement, never force.

Story
I need to re-home my handsome 4-year-old, Jax. He has basic command, crate, and potty training and we have had a couple of great years of running, walking, and hiking in rural Vermont. He has had fantastic vet care and a Farmers Dog diet. After driving him to the West Coast, I found that my travel, long hours, and city life are not compatible with his need for companionship and exercise. He is half mini-Aussie, quarter Beagle, quarter Bulldog rescue, and is at his happiest running on leash, racing dogs in a park, and snuggling with anyone. I would love to chat more if you are interested and/or coordinate a meet up!

Story
Pongo is a real ball of energy, with enough enthusiasm to keep you going all day long. Due to his excitement, Pongo can be a little mouthy at times, so you might want to invest in some sturdy chew toys! Despite his playful nature, Pongo is also one smart cookie. He's always eager to learn new tricks and commands, and with the right training, he's sure to be the top dog in no time. However, it's worth noting that Pongo may need some extra guidance when it comes to being around kids. He's still learning the ropes, but with patience and lots of treats, he'll be the perfect family pet in no time. Please call 707-459-4900 if you would like to meet Pongo.

Story
LOCATION: SANCTUARY IN WILLITS, CA. Shiro likes to play with toys, and is very smart. He is a moderately high drive dog like most herding breeds and likes activity on his terms. He likes his walks but his insecurities keep him from being a dog park dog. He bonds heavily with a particular person and sometimes a particular dog - he is IN LOVE with the dog SNOW KITTY at the Milo Sanctuary, and would follow him anywhere. Shiro is wary of strangers but is very loyal to his people and for this reason he can be protective. He needs a very predictable, low stim. home to be successful. Training and building Shiro's confidence would be key to have Shiro flourish. *Previous Notes* 5/20/17 "Shiro is a super mellow dog. He just loves to sleep all day when we are at work. He does not bark or chew anything up. He is potty and house trained and never has had an accident inside the house. He is so furry and soft and has stunningly beautiful blue eyes. Shiro loves to run around and play fetch and catch Frisbee when he is not cuddling next to you. He loves the outdoors but is not a super energetic dog. He will just sleep all day or go for a walk with you. He loves squeaky toys and will just collect them from around the house if you hide them. He is intelligent and treat motivated. He was able to learn how to sit and was learning how to stay in just a few training sessions. *Shiro has probably had a rough past. When the vet examined him, we found a pellet in his x-rays. It is probably from being shot. He bonds very well with women and is more skittish with males. He also tends to get scared of men and tries to guard his female guardian sometimes. He does not like strangers coming up to him and gets protective of his owners. He would do well with experienced owners. We are not sure how he does with kids - Milo suggests a home without children for a myriad of reasons due to his stranger danger. He is insecure and can react poorly when meeting new dogs, but usually settles in and is fine - but can take some work with him and a new dog to get past the initial snapping and jitters, running with his tail tucked. *He needs lots of love, affection, and discipline, which we were unable to provide with our busy lives." *Shiro is not a first time dog, nor a city dog. He has fairly severe stranger danger and a bite record, he has fear based aggression to dogs and people. He needs a predictable environment, and a buddy dog. Interested please email an application to sanctuary@milofoundation.org Thank you for considering adoption of a Milo Foundation Sanctuary dog. Our Sanctuary is where our rescued dogs who have had difficulty in a home in the past, have behavioral issues, or too much energy, or for some, aggression issues with other dogs, or intense stranger danger that make them more difficult to safely and happily live in urban environments. These are not beginner dogs or for the most part nor are they for families with children. IF you are looking for an easy dog to add to your family, we suggest looking at the dogs at our Adoption Center, Milo Pt Richmond. BUT, if you can offer a safe and nurturing home to a dog with some behavioral "quirks" please do send an application today. Thank you.

Story
Hello! Please meet Mickey, he has an incredible story! Our organization has been rescuing and rehabilitating street dogs in Ukraine since 2018, 4 years before the full-scale invasion. Now since the war started we rescue a lot of animal victims of the war. Mickey is from Bakhmut (a Ukrainian city that was almost destroyed.) Mickey was found by Ukrainian soldiers in the rubble of the apartment building where he lived. He was orphaned and huddled underneath a stove. A soldier contacted our shelter in Kyiv, and Mickey was sent out of the war zone and eventually made his way to Pacifica, CA! Mickey is a playful, gentle, incredibly good-natured dog. Mickey sleeps in the bed with a 5 year old girl in his foster family. Mickey can get very rambuctious and has a unique habit of jumping very high in the air when he is excited. For this reason, we think Mickey would be best in a home with children over the age of 5. Mickey is toilet trained and leash trained. He is neutered and is current on all of his vaccinations. Per CDC requirements, Mickey was quarantined for 10 days upon his arrival to the USA and during that time received a Rabies vaccination in the USA. He also tested negative for heartworm in the USA. The veterinarian in Ukraine determined that Mickey was 6 years old from his teeth, but that can be incorrect. We suspect that he is younger because he still has a lot of energy. He also can chew sometimes, but has not chewed a personal item in a long time since we trained him to chew digestible bones. He gets along well with people, is affectionate and gentle with children, although he can get very excited and play too hard for small children. Friendly with other dogs. Mickey can easily be the second or even third dog because he is non-conflict and ready to give in. He does not strive to lead. He tried to chase the cats at our shelter and is not recommended for cats. Mickey currently lives in a family home in Pacifica with 5 year old and 6 year old children and 2 other dogs. Please contact us if you want to make Mickey part of your family!

Story
**Note: Currently, Camper is in Korea, but he will fly to San Francisco upon adoption. Background This handsome boy was rescued from a slaughterhouse in the summer of 2022 in Daegu, Korea. After his rescue, he lived in a local shelter for three years but couldn’t find a home in Korea. After hearing his story, we brought him to our boarding house, knowing that a loving family is waiting for him in Canada or the US. His forever home is out there, and he is ready to find it. Personality & Behavior Camper is a wonderful Border Collie with a sweet and gentle personality. He has medium energy, much calmer than a typical Border Collie, making him well-mannered and easygoing. He is social and friendly, not shy around strangers, and he gets along beautifully with other dogs. Camper is never dominant or aggressive; he is always polite and affectionate. Among people at the shelter, he is one of the sweetest and most popular dogs, loved by volunteers for his friendly and gentle nature. Daily Life & Habits Camper is well-behaved both indoors and outdoors. He goes potty outside and is easy to care for. He handles bath time and car ride well, and walks nicely on leash, though he sometimes gets excited by new sights during walks. He does not like being caged but has shown no signs of separation anxiety or destructive behavior. Camper is simply a sweet, well-mannered boy who makes life easy and enjoyable. Health & Diet Camper has been on regular parasite prevention since his rescue and has had full veterinary checkups. He is dewormed, microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. He is healthy, happy, and ready for his forever home. Camper eats kibble twice a day and has shown no food allergies. Ideal Home Camper is smart, quick to learn, and very sociable. He will thrive in a home that enjoys spending time outdoors. While he does not require excessive exercise like some Border Collies, he enjoys daily walks, playtime, and outdoor adventures. He will happily balance activity with relaxation and is a perfect companion for a family who loves to include their dog in their outdoor lifestyle. Whoever adopts Camper will be very lucky to have such a gentle, affectionate, and loyal friend. ------------------------------------- For more info about the dog or the adoption application, please follow the link below.
