Story
Hello there, I am Roo! I'm a 10 month old, neutered male, Australian Shepherd, that currently weighs around 35 lbs., but I'm still growing! I could grow up to be 40-45 lbs. I'm an active boy that loves walking, running, hiking and exploring the world by sniffing around or chasing toys! I'm also quite the affectionate fellow, so after I get all my sniffs in, I love to wind down with a good cuddle session and receive all the love. I'm looking for a family that is familiar with herding breeds like me, and our day to day mental and physical activity needs. I'm a total lover when it comes to people, but I need to be the only pet in the home. I promise to give you plenty of love and entertainment! I hope you stop on by so I can show you just how excited I am to see you. Roo #A979448Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. Story
Maybe is the kind of dog who seems to read your mind & know exactly when you need a nudge, a paw, or a snuggle. She’s incredibly loyal & affectionate w/her people & great w/dogs. She’s a very loved dog whose story took a heartbreaking turn w/the arrival of her person’s newborn baby, who triggered her sensitivity & reactivity in a way no one could've anticipated. For everyone's safety, her family had to make the very painful decision to find her a new home. It's a decision made out of love, not convenience & her persons heart is breaking. She shines around dogs & would likely do best in a home w/a canine friend who can help her feel confident & secure but it's not a dealbreaker. She'll take patience to warm up & trust you but when she does, she'll be completely devoted. She's housebroken, good when you’re gone, does not resource guard & knows potty bells & dog doors. Age 4, 55lbs. Vibe: clever, playful, chill, average energy, PicVids: https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B22JtdOXmJ80eB7

Story
Pongo is a real ball of energy, with enough enthusiasm to keep you going all day long. Due to his excitement, Pongo can be a little mouthy at times, so you might want to invest in some sturdy chew toys! Despite his playful nature, Pongo is also one smart cookie. He's always eager to learn new tricks and commands, and with the right training, he's sure to be the top dog in no time. However, it's worth noting that Pongo may need some extra guidance when it comes to being around kids. He's still learning the ropes, but with patience and lots of treats, he'll be the perfect family pet in no time. Please call 707-459-4900 if you would like to meet Pongo.

Story
LOCATION: SANCTUARY IN WILLITS, CA. Shiro likes to play with toys, and is very smart. He is a moderately high drive dog like most herding breeds and likes activity on his terms. He likes his walks but his insecurities keep him from being a dog park dog. He bonds heavily with a particular person and sometimes a particular dog - he is IN LOVE with the dog SNOW KITTY at the Milo Sanctuary, and would follow him anywhere. Shiro is wary of strangers but is very loyal to his people and for this reason he can be protective. He needs a very predictable, low stim. home to be successful. Training and building Shiro's confidence would be key to have Shiro flourish. *Previous Notes* 5/20/17 "Shiro is a super mellow dog. He just loves to sleep all day when we are at work. He does not bark or chew anything up. He is potty and house trained and never has had an accident inside the house. He is so furry and soft and has stunningly beautiful blue eyes. Shiro loves to run around and play fetch and catch Frisbee when he is not cuddling next to you. He loves the outdoors but is not a super energetic dog. He will just sleep all day or go for a walk with you. He loves squeaky toys and will just collect them from around the house if you hide them. He is intelligent and treat motivated. He was able to learn how to sit and was learning how to stay in just a few training sessions. *Shiro has probably had a rough past. When the vet examined him, we found a pellet in his x-rays. It is probably from being shot. He bonds very well with women and is more skittish with males. He also tends to get scared of men and tries to guard his female guardian sometimes. He does not like strangers coming up to him and gets protective of his owners. He would do well with experienced owners. We are not sure how he does with kids - Milo suggests a home without children for a myriad of reasons due to his stranger danger. He is insecure and can react poorly when meeting new dogs, but usually settles in and is fine - but can take some work with him and a new dog to get past the initial snapping and jitters, running with his tail tucked. *He needs lots of love, affection, and discipline, which we were unable to provide with our busy lives." *Shiro is not a first time dog, nor a city dog. He has fairly severe stranger danger and a bite record, he has fear based aggression to dogs and people. He needs a predictable environment, and a buddy dog. Interested please email an application to sanctuary@milofoundation.org Thank you for considering adoption of a Milo Foundation Sanctuary dog. Our Sanctuary is where our rescued dogs who have had difficulty in a home in the past, have behavioral issues, or too much energy, or for some, aggression issues with other dogs, or intense stranger danger that make them more difficult to safely and happily live in urban environments. These are not beginner dogs or for the most part nor are they for families with children. IF you are looking for an easy dog to add to your family, we suggest looking at the dogs at our Adoption Center, Milo Pt Richmond. BUT, if you can offer a safe and nurturing home to a dog with some behavioral "quirks" please do send an application today. Thank you.

Story
Meet Santi - this incredible, loving and joyful herdy girl is looking for her forever home! Her former foster family reports that Santi is an incredibly sweet, smart, and capable dog who has quickly settled into a wonderful companion. She is perfectly house-trained, sleeps quietly in her crate at night, and is one of the quietest dogs you'll ever meet. She's calm and easy-going and has shown no signs of separation anxiety or destructive behaviors. She's also quickly learning many commands! She has already mastered "sit," "down," "place," and "paw," and is getting better every day at "roll over" and "stay." Her favorite pastimes include playing with the hose in the yard, visiting the beach, and asking for belly rubs. Santi is a true "velcro dog," she loves to be by your side and stays close, making her a loyal companion. Santi shows some typical herding behaviors, so an adult only home experienced with these would be the perfect fit for her. She will make the perfect, loyal companion to a calm but active home. If that sounds like you, apply today to meet this love bug!

Story
Meet Skye ☁️🐾 Skye is a bright, energetic pup who’s always ready for her next adventure! With her high energy and playful spirit, she’s best suited for an active home that can keep her both physically and mentally engaged. She’s great with other dogs and would love a canine friend to romp around with. Skye already knows “sit” and is very food motivated, which makes her a fun and rewarding training partner. She can be jumpy when excited and currently pulls on leash, so continued training and structure will help her shine. Because of her enthusiasm and energy, Skye would do best with dog-savvy children ages 13 and up. Skye is not good with cats, so a cat-free home is a must. With the right family who can match her energy and continue her training, Skye will be an amazing, loyal companion ready to take on life by your side. 🌟

Story
Camper is ready to head home to 🇺🇸 Background: This handsome boy was rescued from a slaughterhouse in the summer of 2022 in Daegu, Korea. After his rescue, he lived in a local shelter for three years but couldn’t find a home in Korea. After hearing his story, we brought him to our boarding house, knowing that a loving family is waiting for him in North America. His forever home is out there, and he is ready to find it. Personality & Behavior: Camper is a wonderful Border Collie with a sweet and gentle personality. He has medium energy, much calmer than a typical Border Collie, making him well-mannered and easygoing. He is social and friendly, not shy around strangers, and he gets along beautifully with other dogs. Camper is never dominant or aggressive; he is always polite and affectionate. Among people at the shelter, he is one of the sweetest and most popular dogs, loved by volunteers for his friendly and gentle nature. Daily Life & Habits: Camper is well-behaved both indoors and outdoors. He goes potty outside and is easy to care for. He handles bath time and car ride well, and walks nicely on leash, though he sometimes gets excited by new sights during walks. He does not like being caged but has shown no signs of separation anxiety or destructive behavior. Camper is simply a sweet, well-mannered boy who makes life easy and enjoyable. Health & Diet: Camper has been on regular parasite prevention since his rescue and has had full veterinary checkups. He is dewormed, microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. He is healthy, happy, and ready for his forever home. Camper eats kibble twice a day and has shown no food allergies. Ideal Home: Camper is smart, quick to learn, and very sociable. He will thrive in a home that enjoys spending time outdoors. While he does not require excessive exercise like some Border Collies, he enjoys daily walks, playtime, and outdoor adventures. He will happily balance activity with relaxation and is a perfect companion for a family who loves to include their dog in their outdoor lifestyle. Whoever adopts Camper will be very lucky to have such a gentle, affectionate, and loyal friend. Become Camper's family through link below: https://www.freekoreandogs.org/dog/camper/

Story
I adopted Porky from the Oakland SPCA when he was approximately 11 weeks old (June 2025). He has been raised indoors and is accustomed to a home environment. When unsupervised, he stays in a pen and is taken out 4-6 times daily for potty breaks, exercise, and time together. Porky is approximately 9 months old. He is in the puppy/young adolescent stage and has the high energy and curiosity typical of a Border Collie mix. I’m seeking a stable, committed home that can meet Porky’s physical and mental needs long-term. Ideally, his new home would have a secure backyard or an active adopter who can provide daily exercise, structured training, and enrichment. Experience with high-energy or working breeds is a plus. Porky is intelligent, affectionate, energetic, curious, loyal, trainable, and engaging. He is deeply loved, and this decision has not been made lightly. Due to personal circumstances, I’m no longer able to provide the environment he needs to thrive.
