Story
We adopted Jack when he was 3 months old. He is now 6 years old. He is full of energy and very vocal. He has been raised around kids but we recently had another baby and we feel that he deserves to have more attention and mental stimulation than we can give him. He loves a good chest and tummy rub and loves running and playing. He can be a bit wild around younger children but would be fine with older children. He loves eating snow and being close to his people. He is smart and confident and would love to have another dog companion. His worst trait is that he likes to bark but I feel like he just needs consistent training to adjust time and place for it.

Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Biscuit #2 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Biscuit #2 | 11 weeks | Australian Shepherd Mix with a playful heart Biscuit is an 12-week-old Australian Shepherd mix weighing about 15 pounds, and he’s every bit the happy, confident puppy you’d hope for. This light-brown little guy is playful, affectionate, and loves being close to his people. He enjoys toys, chew bones, and snuggling under the covers, and he has an endearing habit of hiding his toys and resting his head on you when it’s time to relax. Biscuit is very social, loves meeting new people of all ages, and is friendly and outgoing with other dogs. Biscuit is well on his way with house training and already knows to run to the back door when he needs to go outside. During the day he uses a doggie door and does great, with only occasional puppy accidents. Crate training is progressing nicely—he goes in with encouragement, especially since his meals are fed in his open crate, and while he may whine at first, he settles fairly quickly. Covering the crate with a blanket and leaving him a chew helps him feel secure when left alone for a few hours. Like most puppies his age, Biscuit is just beginning leash training and is still taking in the big wide world, preferring to stop and sniff everything along the way. He’s very smart, already knows cues like “sit,” “come,” and “no,” and is highly motivated by food, toys, and affection. He has classic puppy energy, loves to play hard, then happily curls up for cuddles. Biscuit is also in the teething stage, so continued guidance with play biting will be important. Biscuit would thrive in a home with another playful dog or an active family who can give him plenty of attention, structure, and ongoing training. He’s a sweet, snuggly, joyful puppy who is ready to grow up alongside a family committed to all the fun and learning that comes with raising a young dog.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Peaches #5 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails).   Peaches #5 | 12 weeks | Aussie Mix with playful confidence Peaches is an 11-week-old Aussie mix puppy with a confident, playful nature and a big zest for life. At 13 pounds, this girl with unique markings on her face is outgoing, sweet, and always ready to explore. She loves toys, enjoys car rides, and doesn’t let much slow her down. If something new or unexpected happens, Peaches takes it in stride and moves on like a pro. As a young puppy, Peaches is still learning house training and the basics of living in a home. She’s working on crate training and may whine or bark initially, especially when left alone, and she’s still building bladder control. She has been left crated for short periods (3–4 hours) and is making gradual progress. Typical puppy behaviors like play biting are present, and she’s learning what’s appropriate to chew, with food being a helpful motivator. Peaches has had positive interactions with other dogs, including large breeds, and would likely love having another dog in the home. She’s also doing well with cats—she may try to initiate play or chase but is learning boundaries. She hasn’t met children yet but shows no preference between men and women and is generally very social. Peaches will do best in an active, committed home ready to provide training, structure, and plenty of outlets for her energy as she grows.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! What we know: Owner Surrender – Española Humane. Approximately 4 years old at intake. Not good with cats. Would do best with active owners. From the foster: Looking for your adventure buddy? Sweet Fanny is the perfect blend of calm, smart and active. At 4 years old, she’s well mannered, house trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. She loves getting outside - whether that’s a neighborhood stroll, a weekend hike, or a full mountain adventure - and her athleticism makes her a natural outdoor companion. When it’s time to relax, Fanny happily switches gears. After a day of activity, she’s perfectly content curling up for a cozy evening movie, making her an ideal balance of adventure buddy and couch companion. Fanny is wonderful with kids and respectfully takes her cues from our four-year-old “boss of the house.” She’s patient, gentle, and happy to show off her “tricks” (sitting, laying down, or simply looking adorable) especially when treats are involved. She’s incredibly loyal - the kind of dog who sticks close and makes you feel like her whole world. Fanny seems to prefers women, and she can have some separation anxiety. She much prefers to be asleep on a bed or couch over her crate. She gets along with our dog as well, however she would be best in a home without cats. www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt

Story
Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! What we know: Came from shelter in Guymon, OK. Was shot with buckshot and taken to the vet to have bullets removed, owner never came to pick her back up so she was brought to the shelter and ended up on the euthanasia list for being too high energy and due to the length of stay at the shelter. Lola sometimes limps on her right, back leg; x-ray on 2/11/26 shows arthritis and ortho advised putting her on a joint supplement. *Was perviously a working dog, needs a home that is very active or has a job for her.* From the foster: Hi! I’m Lola! Lo-Lo-Lo-Lo-Lola I’m a sensitive, highly intelligent working dog who’s learning that the world can be a safe and rewarding place. When we first meet, I might seem shy or cautious. New people, unfamiliar places, or sudden movements can make me want to take a step back. I do best when I’m given kindness, patience, consistency, and gentle guidance. Once I start to feel safe, I relax and let my true, silly personality shine! I love to be active. Going on walks, runs (even rollerblading beside you)and going to dog friendly stores; most anything you can do I can do too! I really enjoy problem-solving and having a “job” to do—it helps me feel confident and fulfilled. I may not be the kind of dog who offers instant affection—but if you’re willing to put in the time, I promise the reward is worth it. Watching me grow more confident and trusting is something truly special, and the bond we’ll build together will be deep and unbreakable! www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
