Story
Jack is 6 years old. His mother was an Australian Shepherd and his father’s breed is unknown. He is very energetic, vocal, and smart. He loves chasing bunnies, eating snow, and being with his people. He has never had an accident in the house and is crate trained. As our family has grown we haven’t been able to give him the time and attention he needs. He would work best with adults or only older children in the home. He has been raised with kids but his excitement might knock Littles over. He needs consistency with stimulation/training/ exercise. He is eager to have a job to do and needs a yard.

Story
This is Bailey. She’s and 11 year old Australian Shepard mixed with heeler and maybe even some beagle. She’s a fairly laid back lady who enjoys naps, cheese, and a frisbee sesh if and when you can swing it. She knows basic commands and will be a pretty chill companion in a low energy household. Since the day she was born she’s been a little on the anxious side, but with a little bit of Prozac with her food every morning that helps her significantly. Some triggers for her anxiety is loud popping sounds (not a big 4th of July fan) and when the window is open and if the wind blows the curtains. While Bailey is really good with kids of any age, she’s ready for more of a retired and quiet lifestyle than her current home with 3 rambunctious kids. Bailey can be selective at first with other dogs, but usually after a day everything is worked out and she is good with any dog as long as they aren’t constantly in her space. Bailey is great with cats.

Story
Meet Selena—a 1-year, 4-month-old Australian Shepherd mix with a heart as sweet as her personality and just the right amount of spunk to keep life interesting. She’s the kind of dog who brings a fun, playful energy without being overwhelming. Selena is crate trained and walks nicely on a leash, making her a great companion whether you’re out exploring or just settling into your daily routine. Selena would do best in a home with larger dogs who can match her play style and energy. Like many herding mixes, she does have some prey drive, so she’ll need a home without small animals and with someone who understands how to guide her. She’s at that perfect age—past the tiny puppy phase but still young, eager, and ready to learn. With the right home, Selena is going to be an incredibly loyal, fun, and loving companion. Adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter Rabies Vaccination Distemper / Parvo Vaccines (includes series of 3 for puppies) Bordetella Microchip with prepaid lifetime registration Deworming ##2394426##

Story
If you’re looking for a chill guy, Abner is your dog! He’s very food motivated, loves a good cuddle and being admired for his cuteness, but is happy to spend time on his own as needed. Good on a leash and in a crate, he loves to hoard all of his toys (and socks) into his kennel to lay with. A fun pup with good outdoor energy, but equally loves to lounge around. Excited about other dogs and little kids at the park.  Adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter Rabies Vaccination Distemper / Parvo Vaccines (includes series of 3 for puppies) Bordetella Microchip with prepaid lifetime registration Deworming ##2701834##

Story
HOMEOWNERSHIP REQUIRED! Meet Deimos (aka Saul), you loyal best friend in the making! Are you searching for a sweet soul to complete your family? Deimos is a 4-year-old, 60-pound bundle of love who’s ready to find his forever home. This handsome guy is fully potty trained, knows how to use a doggie door, and has mastered his basic commands — sit, stay, heel, lay down, come, and shake — thanks to a comprehensive board-and-train program. He’s crate trained, calm when left alone, and sleeps soundly through the night (especially if snuggling is involved — his favorite!). Deimos has all the fun, joyful energy of a puppy without the pesky puppy habits. Silly? Wiggly? Bouncy? Absolutely. Chewing and constant jumping? Not this gentleman. He’d love to be your adventure buddy on hikes and outings, but he’s just as happy to cuddle on the couch or serve as your very handsome co-worker during Zoom meetings. He’ll brighten your days with his happy thumping tail, curious fascination with animals on TV, gentle head nudges, and soft paw taps asking for pets. Deimos is friendly with his foster brother and could live with another dog, especially a confident one who can help show him the ropes. He can be a bit apprehensive about certain dogs he sees out in the world, so structured introductions and a supportive, confident handler will help him continue building positive experiences. He adores people and bonds deeply, though he prefers a thoughtful introduction. When meeting someone new, he just asks for a few minutes to observe and choose when he’s ready for affection — and once he decides, he’s all in. Given a little space and structure, he quickly shows just how loving and trusting he truly is. Deimos will thrive in a home that provides consistency, gentle leadership, and lots of love. In return, he’ll give unwavering loyalty, companionship, and endless heart-melting moments. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and ready to start his next chapter. If you’re ready for a devoted companion who will be as loyal to you as you are to him, apply today to meet this true gem. Adoption fee includes the following: Spay/Neuter Rabies Vaccination Distemper / Parvo Vaccines (includes series of 3 for puppies) Bordetella Microchip with prepaid lifetime registration Deworming ##1193696##

Story
Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! What we know: 4-month-old spayed female transferred from Española Humane. Intake type listed as Seized/Custody/Stray. Dog's two brothers were transferred prior while she remained at the sending facility to complete treatment for Parvovirus. Venus has since completed treatment, was medically cleared, and deemed healthy for transport. From the foster: Are you looking for your dog’s best friend? Venus is out of this world. She loves other dogs and she is so playful and trusting of them. Humans, she needs more time with, but her affection with dogs is beautiful. To break out of her shell and shine, Venus needs a friendly confident dog to lead the way. Her first few days, she was nervous letting me get close enough to clip on a leash for walks, but a little lick on the nose from her foster brother bought her outside, nervous but willing for me to clip on the leash. It was so sweet and beautiful. Dogs are her safe place. She loves to chase and wrestle, and loves going on walks. Friendly playful dogs are her love language. Venus is a smart girl that learned her nighttime bed in her pen by night 2 and all these weeks later, it’s still her nighttime bed & safe place in new situations. She sleeps quietly through the night in her crate or pen in your bedroom. She will go in on her own with the toss in of a treat but needs her space to enter then has no problem with you closing the pen. (update: Venus now has free access at night with no issues. She wakes me up if she needs to go potty). Venus is kennel trained. Toss in a frozen peanut butter Kong and she’ll go in, she may need you to take a few steps back to give her space then you can close the door. While she is mostly quiet, she does have bouts of barking in kennel (update: after 5th kennel day, a week-plus in our home, she has been quiet all day.) Venus is potty trained, doggie door trained, and will do her business outside, even on a small piece of turf, but has yet to do her business on leash. We’re hoping when she gets more comfortable she’ll go. (Update: she still has yet to do her business on leash) Venus will follow your happy dog’s lead and sneak in for good scratches and pets from you when your dog does. In the early days she may become so excited, she forgets to be nervous. (Update: We have moved on to full on body-shaking belly rubs! She LOVES the deep scratches where her eyes close and her tongue hangs out). Please understand that the bubbly happy dog that loves pets and scratches needed time to get comfortable. It’s not hours, but days she will need to trust you, but her happy joyful love is worth your patience. She’s a treasure! Venus loads well into the car watching your dogs get excited about going for a ride. For part of our rides, she does curl up in the floorboards then comes up and watch the world go by. Venus is a very pretty and independent puppy that loves patrolling the yard. She is on the lookout for squirrels she can chase. She is excited when the neighbor's dogs are out. She will prance along the fence in the hopes of playing with them. She also likes playing in the sprinklers when they are on. She has the prettiest prance 🩷 Venus is gentle with the toys she has and likes to have them near her favorite spot at the front of the home while she watches the street. She’ll also collect them on her outside dog bed as she sunbathes outside. She enjoys chewing on Himalayan milk chews, cow hooves and kneecaps. Please come prepared understanding she will need your patience as you develop your bond, she prefers her four legged companions over the two legged variety, but she will begin to trust you with several days of your time and patience. Your happy confident dog is the secret sauce in breaking through that initial wall to trust and adoration. Venus is progressing well with meeting strangers on walks and letting them pet her. She definitely follows the trusting lead of her foster brother and sister who love the people we meet, and so far has accepted all pets from strangers. She’s just a little cautious. Venus is doing well learning her leash skills and will follow your dog’s lead on where to go. She’s shown interest in bunnies and squirrels but only interest and can continue to behave with training. (Update: interest bunnies has waned.) Venus is a sweetheart that responds well to corrections, and has been described as having ‘excellent house manners. ‘ She was a counter surfer and shoe thief but is doing great with rules. At Day 12, she hadn’t counter surfed in several days and entirely leaves the crocs alone. She was a fan of leather slippers, so we might be past that too. So much progress. She had shown no resource guarding and eats well with her foster brother and sister even with the highest value treats and food. Following her foster brother and sister’s lead she doesn’t touch your food if you need to grab something in the kitchen, even when it’s right at nose level. She’s shown wonderful mealtime manners. Loving on Venus is getting better and better everyday. She is such a bubbly and happy dog. Days 1-3, she was nervous and didn’t want me too close. On day 5, she slept at my feet while I worked then snuggled up on the couch with me for belly rubs and muzzle scratches. 🐾 Day 6, she gave sweet face kisses that melted my heart. Day 8, she pawed at me for affection after I had been away for a bit. She wanted deep neck scratches that she leaned into. 🩷 Day 9, she was so overjoyed when I came to let her out at lunch that she covered my face in dozens and dozens of little kisses. 🥰 She’s such a happy dog, her just won’t feel comfortable showing you for several days. Day 9, a completely different dog than Day 1 when she wouldn’t let me get close enough to put a leash on. Three weeks later, you never would guess this was the same dog that was afraid. She is joyful, playful and at times silly. A beautiful transformation in a matter of days with a furry friend to guide her along. She is pure sweetness and comes in ready and willing to play and trust your furry babies… and eventually you too. Come bring her home to be your dog’s best friend and win over your heart. www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
