Story
Goose is a 1.5 year old Australian Shepherd and Border Collie mix. We received him from a friend who trains dogs. He knows the commands Sit, Stay, Wait, Down (lay down), Come, Off (get off furniture or people), and Go to Bed. He is crate trained, house broken, leash trained, and has been trained not to get on the couch or bed. He is a sweet friendly dog who loves activity and people. Goose needs a family with older children that can play and run around with him or a family that is very active and willing to take him along for the ride! He loves a great game of fetch and to go on runs or walks.

Story
1. Chef was a rescue dog 9-weeks old from a puppy mill 2. 8 yrs old - lives inside & and is best in a fenced area attached to the house 3. He's very affectionate with grown people & teens 4. He's anxious around young children & other animals (His anxiety around kids makes him very cautious around them) 5. Chef has been aggressive toward other animals a couple of times 6. Chef eats well Royal Canin Adult Dog-food & treats 7. Chef loves to play with toys for a long time 8. A fenced area is a great environment for Chef, because of his anxiety around other animals/dogs. Fences are a safe in his environment. He can walk on a leash comfortably, but would still be anxious around other animals/kids 9. Can sleep in a crate open or closed - loves to sleep on a couch or bed 10. Chef is an easy dog to love 11. He is very comfortable with teenage and adults 12. Chef is in Statesboro now, and we live in Jefferson GA

Story
Apply here: http://athenscaninerescue.com/adoption-procedures/ Introducing Rain, our cute little wobbly friend! Rain is currently around a year old and weighs in at just about 35 pounds! Anyone who meets our sweet Rain can see that he is a special boy! You may notice that Rain walks a little differently than most puppies his age - he’s quite clumsy! A complete neurological and orthopedic evaluation at the University of Georgia didn’t show any specific abnormalities, so it is likely that Rain was born with several congenital issues that resulted in his quirky walk. He used to have some issues in the pottying department as well, but these are well controlled on a specific diet. At this time, Rain does not need any special medications or therapies to treat his unique condition. Just lots of love! Housebreaking, Crate-Training, and Commands Rain is currently working on both house and crate training. He needs a proper routine in order to not have accidents in the house, but manages to keep the house dry if he is taken out on schedule! It seems he has a grasp that potty = outside, but sometimes, he just can’t help himself, which is totally normal for a puppy! As far as the crate goes, that one is a bit easier. He will cry for just a bit reminding you that he’s there, but once he’s settled he’s good to go! He currently stays in the crate at night, for all his meals, and if his foster family goes out! Behavior around other Dogs, Cats, and Kids Because he’s a puppy, life's a breeze for Rain! He is curious and fun, and will play, play, play if you let him. He’s been around children from ages 3-14 and overall, he’s great other than some puppy nibbles. Chasing cats is a fun game, but will quickly stop if he’s corrected by the cat (or human!) And as far as other dogs go, he loves them! But he is a little too amped for playing so he may get on an older dog's nerves and have to be taught the house rules. Rain would not be a good candidate for a dog park because of his health needs, but would likely do well with trusted dogs in a private park setting! Behavior around People + Exercise Needs Rain is by all accounts your typical puppy. He loves to play! He loves people and is so friendly! Rain especially loves snuggles once he’s got his energy out! He’s not demanding about attention though and will leave you alone if you aren’t up for it in the moment. Rain is a hop, skip, and a sideways run (literally) away from being yours! Contact us today! If you’d like to be considered to adopt, the first step in the process is to submit an application through our website: http://athenscaninerescue.com/adoption-procedures/. Our adoption fee is $250 per dog over the age of 6 months and $300 per dog 6 months or younger. We accept payment by Venmo, PayPal, or card. This includes: basic vet care (i.e. basic vaccinations, including boosters completed after adoption, spay/neuter, heartworm/flea preventatives, and treatment for any health needs while in our care), a microchip, a week’s worth of food for the trial-period, and a harness lead. All in state applications will be considered with some preference given to more local applications. WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING OUT OF STATE APPLICATIONS FOR DOGS SIX MONTHS OR YOUNGER. We do not have a facility and operate through a network of foster homes. Thus, we do not have a phone number. If you’d like to discuss potential adoptions, please email at adopt@athenscaninerescue.com.

Story
Hunk Alert! This hunk of love is sweet cuddly Cole! Doesn't he look like a huggable loveable? Cole is an approximately 5 year old, 60 poundish, black tri color, bobtailed Aussie boyo. Foster Mom says joyful super duper 'so happy to see you' whole body wigglbutts are a Cole speciality! Cole came to the rescue from a breeding situation. He likely spent a lot of time outside and is waiting for the One who will give him the happy home and hearth he deserves. The handsome hunk has lots of hugs and heart to share. Cole knows his house manners. He enjoys being outdoors. The happy boy adores zig-zag zoomies in the fenced yard with his calm and playful fur fellows. After some run around fun, Cole is ready for downtime dozing and cozy cuddling. He's definitely a My Person pup. He doesn't get felines-the're odd mannered. He's just a little wary of the them and tends to avoid the foster home kitties. It's a live and let them situation. The boy is pretty near perfect. Cole's a typical Aussie aussome-medium energy, with a lot of smarts and spirit. The key to his cool Coleness-always happy, happy, HAPPY to see the ones who have earned his heart. He's just a hunk of love looking for his One. Cole needed a few weeks to decompress when he first came to Foster Mom. She gave him space and time to observe his surroundings. His crate is his haven when things get a bit overwhelming-too many things going on, too much noise. He would growl a bit, but his Foster family understood. Consistency, gentle coaxing, treats and even some 'Good Boy' wooing and cooing helped him feel more confident and secure. The Person who decides they're meant for Cole will have a patient, optimistic, and positive mindset-ready to give him time and training. Cole deserves to be Someone's 'Good Boy'. When his trust is won, the reward is a loyal companion, sidekick and a lifetime of sweetness and snuggles. Cole's Forever After? Cole doesn't need much and deserves the best. Folks looking for a friend to keep them company, a companion to hang out with in the backyard or have near while streaming, will love Cole. Cole would do best with a calm and confident canine mate to share life with and learn dog ways from. Kiddos 10 and up who respect dogs well, will appreciate Cole. A fenced in back yard is best as, especially in early days, the pooch needs a secure place to go to and be active in. Cole should have easy access to a crate to retreat in, especially during decompression and transition. Multiresidential buildings (such as apartments) are not a good fit for this pup. Our adopters give their new family member time to decompress, grow familiar with the new environment/routine and invest time to train. They're committed to slow monitored introductions with new people, especially children, other animals, and places. The Colester wiggled by to say: 'I'm ready to be by your side Forever. I'mma hunk of love!' Is this sweetheart meant to be your Good Boy? If so, please fill out an application at the link below to be considered as a possible adopter. (Only COMPLETELY answered applications will be considered.) https://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/dDNce9yr0ChU0F -Fostered in Greater Cincinnati area-20 minutes in Boone County, KY *Read the bio carefully. Priority will be given to instate or border state approved adopters for Cole. Adoption Fee: $350

Story
Sabrina is an amazing dog who just needs someone willing to work with her. She is amazing with children (just needs work on being too excited around small children but has gotten much better with our fosters 2 year old)  She is most definitely mixed with a working breed - she needs consistent exercise to be a calm house dog and will become destructive if her mind isn’t stimulated. She absolutely loves sniff walks and fetch to wear her out and work her brain.  She will need a more involved owner who understands her needs. She has a lot of allergies and our vet believes her skin issues may just be a chronic life long struggle. She is taking 1/2 an apoquel a day and her foster supplements with calming treats and allergy/immune boost treats daily. We have not done an elimination diet to determine exact allergies, but she is currently eating Rachel Ray Limited Ingredient (Just 6 depending on bag design/store) Lamb flavor and has been doing better!  She still has bald spots and flare ups if the weather is bad or she gets stressed out. We’re working on determining when it happens to try and eliminate the flare ups so her hair can grow back fully. Currently all 4 shoulders have some degree of baldness and occasional bumps from her chewing, but I’ve been keeping sweaters on her and the calming treats to try and get her to leave the area alone long enough for the hair to grow back.  She’s got some unique quirks that make her even more special! She is  described as being cat like - she absolutely loves to be up high looking over everything. When outside, she can be found hopping onto the patio table to look in windows or take a nap. She’s also been caught napping on top of book shelves or any surface big enough to hold her body and she’ll curl up like she’s meant to be there!   She has no fear when it comes to humans, but can be skittish in the house when it comes to switching rooms or entering/exiting like she’s unsure what will come from the other room. She does alright with other dogs in neutral territory, but does resource guard her food, kennel, and occasionally the fosters sun room if she can see the other dogs filtering in and out while she’s hanging out in there. However, she responds incredibly well to correction and is eager to please! With or without treats, she loves to practice new skills and is working incredibly hard to be calm in the house! She still has trouble channeling her energy some days if she hasn’t had enough stimulation, but you can see how hard she tries to maintain composure during training sessions!  She’s a work in progress, but her personality and temperament are perfect for someone looking for a loyal dog that’s willing to do anything from cuddle on the couch to adventure with them!   https://www.pupandcatco.com/Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.We do not have a shelter facility and our pets are housed in foster homes, vet clinics and local boarding facilities.
