Story
Loyal and loving companionMeet Piper – Sweet, Smart & Ready for Her Forever Home Piper is a loving, 5-year-old mixed-breed girl weighing 50 pounds, and she's looking for her forever family. Rescued after being abandoned at a dog park in poor condition, Piper has come a long way—blossoming into a loyal, affectionate, and incredibly smart companion. Piper has completed basic obedience training and we are now working on leash training. She knows all the essentials: sit, stay, lay down, leave it, and she has excellent recall. She's also fully potty trained and patiently sits while you place her food bowl down waits for a release command before eating—what a good girl! While Piper can be a little shy at first, she warms up quickly to new people in a home setting. Piper is a mix bread girl but with a personality of an Australian Shepherd or Cattle Dog smart, loyal, and full of heart. Piper would do best in a home without cats, she has done well with older kids. If you're looking for a devoted adventure buddy and a snuggle partner who will reward your patience with endless affection, Piper is your girl.  Check out Piper's videos: https://youtu.be/bcT5b2m90ek https://youtu.be/GwoQpSCIRSI For more videos and photos for Piper check out her social media on TikTok, YouTube and instagram @PawsNthegarden Age: 5 years old     Weight: 50 lbs   Temperament: Good with dogs and kids.   Training: Crate-trained, house trained, knows commands Vetting: Spayed, up to date on vaccines, HW negative For questions about Piper, please email: morgan7728@gmail.com  &#226&#128&#139 To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself.   January 15, 2026, 8:21 am

Story
Hi, my name is Prancer.  I was not left behind by Santa Claus.   I got my name from the way I run.  I don’t really run, I prance around.  It just makes you smile to watch me.  I am a wonderful little guy who loves life.  I am always happy.  My foster mom says I am happy no matter what and sometimes oblivious because of my happiness.  There is a doggie door to her deck.  My favorite game is to run around the den, through the kitchen, out the doggie door, and around the yard.  Then back in.  Each time I check to make sure my foster mom is still there.  Sometimes I am actually able to persuade a couple of my foster brothers to join me.  We have a blast.  I am not sure my foster mom has the same amount of fun.  But....we keep it up until it is time to take a nap. I have fit in great here and get along well with the other doggies, even the grouchy old men!  Again, I am oblivious to their opinion of me.  I am housebroken and crate-trained.  I know to go to my crate when treats are given out.  I also eat my breakfast and dinner in my crate.   I was originally living with a senior lady.  Unfortunately, we were not a good match.  As soon as Critter Cavalry learned of my dilemma, I was placed in a more suitable home.  I am happy to hang out here until I find my forever home.   I would love a home with an active family that will take me places with them.  I am learning to walk on a leash so I can go walking and maybe even hiking with you.  If you are into agility, I am your man.  As you have already read, I am actively practicing my skills.  I would also be a great companion for a family with older children.  As an Australian Shepherd mix, I am an active boy who needs a job.  A fenced-in yard is also a must for me.   Prancer is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped. To apply or learn more, email Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com. (He is in Tennessee and can be transported north after adoption. Approved application and fee required.)      January 13, 2026, 6:14 pm

Story
Meet Miss Kitty – A Heart Ready to Bloom   Miss Kitty’s story is one of transformation, hope, and quiet bravery. This stunning 2-year-old Aussie mix (around 70 lbs) was once part of a large group of neglected dogs—left without love, attention, or hugs daily.  The days of indifference from humans are long behind her. With the help of a kind foster home, Miss Kitty has discovered the beauty of human kindness, human touch and now she’s ready to find a forever family of her own.  In just two months, she’s blossomed from a shy, uncertain girl into a dog who seeks out affection and enjoys the company of people—especially children, who she now happily follows with her tail wagging. She’s gentle with dogs of all sizes and loves running and playing with her friends in open spaces. Cats are still a mystery to her, but she’s learned to coexist respectfully. Miss Kitty is still gaining confidence with new experiences—like walking on a leash and spending time indoors—but her courage grows every day. She’s curious, sweet, and has a heart that’s learning to trust completely. With a little patience and a lot of love, this beautiful girl will reward her forever family with endless devotion and loyalty. If you’re looking to make a difference in a dog’s life and watch a soul truly bloom, Miss Kitty is waiting for you.  Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com to meet Miss Kitty today!   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 12, 2026, 9:57 am

Story
Stella is a friendly and intelligent dog with plenty of energy. We want her to be happy and have a space where she can run around and play with other dogs. Previously, Stella lived in the mountains of Colorado, where she enjoyed a large fenced yard and had lots of friends to play with. Now, she is living in a townhouse without a yard, which has been challenging for her. As a very active young lady, she is currently feeling unhappy. Stella is a mix of Australian Cattle Dog, Husky, German Shepherd, and Golden Retriever, and she is expected to weigh around 30 pounds. She is a loving and eager-to-learn dog who picks up new skills quickly. Stella would be an amazing agility dog, as this would engage both her mind and her need for physical activity. If agility training isn't your interest, she would also thrive in an active lifestyle with an avid walker, hiker, or runner.  Stella is a very quick learner and was immediately fully potty trained.     To ensure the best for Stella, her new owners should have a yard or live on a farm, and it would be great if they have another dog and children.  Stella has plenty of energy to add playing at home to her list of activities.    Stella has been spayed and is current on all her shots until May 2026.  To be considered for her forever family and to request an application please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Stella is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)  July 30, 2025, 4:58 pm

Story
Hi, my name is Zara! I am a beautiful gray and white 3-year-old Australian Shepherd Poodle mix. While ladies typically don’t disclose their weight, I am about 50 lbs. If you are a smart and active person or couple looking to adopt a dog with a similar temperament, then we could be a great match! I love going for walks and would appreciate having someone who can incorporate that into my daily routine. Getting outside for exercise is something I enjoy, and I would also make an excellent running companion. Visiting the park or going on hikes would be a lot of fun, too! Not to brag, but I believe I'm quite a looker, and I’m confident that if you took me to the park, we would make lots of friends together. While I love people, I am not used to being around other dogs, so a dog park wouldn’t be suitable for me. However, I’m always up for hanging out where the people are! I’m also a bit too energetic for young children; I sometimes forget that I'm bigger than they are and might accidentally knock them over. It would be wonderful if someone in the household could work from home, as I am crate-trained but don't like spending long hours alone. I thrive on human interaction and am seeking a loving home.  I promise to return your love! If you would like to be considered for my forever family, please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com. Please note that an approved application and adoption fee are required. (I am currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)    July 30, 2025, 4:58 pm

Story
If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick, the Joey is your guy. We think this gorgeous, tricolor male could be a cross between an Australian Shepard and an English Shepard, both of which are very intelligent breeds. He would be the perfect dog for someone who works from home. Joey walks well on a leash, even though he pulls a bit, and rides well in a car. Joey gets along well with other dogs and loves to play with the dogs in his foster home. Joey would make a great hiking buddy as he is always ready for an adventure. He was picked up as a stray and is guesstimated to be between 3-5 years old. Due to his activity level, we think he is closer to 3 years old. Joey has been neutered, is to up to date on vaccinations and is microchipped. Unfortunately, Joey did test positive for heartworms. Since he is asymptomatic for heartworms, he is on the slow kill method to eliminate them, and he should test negative in a year or two. In the meantime, he can live life normally without any restrictions. Joey’s adoption donation is $450 which includes the $165 transport fee. Joey is being fostered in Arkansas. If you would like to adopt Joey, please fill out an adoption application. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
