Story
If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick, then Joey is your guy. We think this gorgeous, tricolor male could be a cross between an Australian Shepard and an English Shepard, both of which are very intelligent breeds. Joey walks well on a leash, even though he pulls a bit, and rides well in a car. Joey gets along well with other dogs and loves to play with the dogs in his foster home. Joey would make a great hiking buddy as he is always ready for an adventure. He was picked up as a stray and is guesstimated to be between 3-5 years old. Due to his activity level, we think he is closer to 3 years old. He was thin when first rescued but has put on over 10 pounds and appears to be at his optimal weight at 46.4 pounds on 3/26/26. Joey has been neutered, is to up to date on vaccinations and is microchipped. Unfortunately, Joey did test positive for heartworms, but the good news is that since he is asymptomatic for heartworms, he is on the slow kill method to eliminate them and he should test negative in a year or two. In the meantime, he can live life normally without any restrictions. Joey is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and being kept on monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. Joey’s adoption donation is $450 which includes the $165 transport fee. Joey is being fostered in Arkansas. If you would like to adopt Joey, please fill out an adoption application. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Story
Cody is an 8-month-old, 40 lb pup who made the long journey from Albania to find his fresh start—and he is making the absolute most of it. This happy, affectionate boy truly adores people. He’s the kind of dog who lights up when he sees you and will gladly soak up all the love and attention you’re willing to give. Cody is great with other dogs and has a playful, fun-loving side. He loves to run, play, and then settle in for some quality snuggle time. He’s well-rounded too—good on leash, rides nicely in the car, and enjoys being out and about just as much as he enjoys being close to his people. He’s the total package of fun, affection, and companionship, and he’s ready to bring all of that into a home of his own. Cody is microchipped, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. Story
My name is Speckles. I am 4.5 months and about 22 lb and an absolute doll. I am an Aussie/Terrier mix and should be about 35 lbs full grown. I am a lover of all people and kids and dogs! I absolutely adore all humans and I love playing with my dog friends big or small. I could live with or without doggie friends. If you don't have dogs though - I would love some doggie playdates! I love to play with toys and can independently chew and keep myself entertained. I am really good about sticking to my toys and not focusing on your furniture. I absolutely love squeaky toys. They are my fav! I also can fetch (really!). I am spunky and fun but also have a major couch potato side. You won't see my staying up late night. By 8:00 I am down for the count and ready to cuddle and sleep. I am really smart and understand that I should go potty outside. I am crate trained and sleep overnight peacefully. I am a master at it. I go right in without a peep and get this is my space. I am happy to explore on leash and will make a great walking buddy! I am curious - I love to stop and smell the flowers and greet everyone nicely! I would make a great dog for so many people and families! I am really a well-rounded and easy going girl. I am located in NJ! If you are interested in me, here is a link to the application: https://www.zivadogrescue.org/adoptable-dogs

Story
My name is Thor. My name sounds big and tough but I promise, I am not either of those! I am almost 5 months old and about 30 to 35 lbs. You might ask, I am listed as a Golden/Aussie mix, why am I not golden in color? Well, genes work in mysterious ways. I am a very sweet boy. I love other dogs and would prefer to live with another dog in my forever home. This is two fold, another dog gives me a little confidence boost when meeting new people and I absolutely love their companionship and playtime. However, the other dog doesn't have to constantly play with me. I am great at entertaining myself and asking my humans to play too. I love people. Once I trust, I trust hard and am loyal and incredibly affectionate. I meet new people almost often in my foster home and that has been really good for me! At first, I am standoffish and need a little time to make sure you are okay. I am not an ounce aggressive, just unsure. It's not long until I think you are totally worthy of all of my goodness. I am good with kids and would be perfectly fine living with some respectful kiddos. I live with school aged kids now and enjoy cuddling and running in the backyard. I am a natural (no surprise there). We think swimming or kiddie pools could be in my future. I certainly loved the sprinklers. I am crate trained and I am housebroken! A fenced in yard and single family home is required for me. I'm also good with cats! I am located in NJ. Here is a link to the application: https://www.zivadogrescue.org/adoptable-dogs

Story
Riley, thought to be born in January or February of 2015 is a tricolor, smooth coat collie/border collie mix with some brindle markings on his legs. He has experienced 2 failed adoptions. He was adopted from us when he was about 6 months old and was returned to us 3 years later when the male member of the adoptive family, who had Alzheimer’s, became abusive toward him. In time he began developing his self-confidence again and began to lose his fear of men. Even though he was still somewhat leery of men he didn’t know, he would actually seek attention from men with whom he was familiar. He got along well with the dogs in his foster home but he behaved aggressively toward any new foster dog that periodically come in. He is not good with cats as he showed aggression toward the clinic cat at our vet’s office. Riley was adopted a second time, but after a year of trying different techniques to manage Riley’s difficult behaviors his second adopter felt that she could no longer handle him and once again Riley was returned to us. He left us weighing 55 pounds and returned, markedly overweight, at 78 pounds. He is now back to a healthy weight. Riley has had extensive training. He is quite smart and learns quickly. He rides well in a car and walks well on a leash unless he meets a dog while out on the walk, in which case he will pull and act aggressively. Riley is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. Riley is currently in Arkansas. His adoption donation is $415 which includes the $165 transport fee. If you would like to adopt Riley, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application.
