Story
If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick, the Joey is your guy. We think this gorgeous, tricolor male could be a cross between an Australian Shepard and an English Shepard, both of which are very intelligent breeds. He would be the perfect dog for someone who works from home. Joey walks well on a leash, even though he pulls a bit, and rides well in a car. Joey gets along well with other dogs and loves to play with the dogs in his foster home. Joey would make a great hiking buddy as he is always ready for an adventure. He was picked up as a stray and is guesstimated to be between 3-5 years old. Due to his activity level, we think he is closer to 3 years old. Joey has been neutered, is to up to date on vaccinations and is microchipped. Unfortunately, Joey did test positive for heartworms. Since he is asymptomatic for heartworms, he is on the slow kill method to eliminate them, and he should test negative in a year or two. In the meantime, he can live life normally without any restrictions. Joey’s adoption donation is $450 which includes the $165 transport fee. Joey is being fostered in Arkansas. If you would like to adopt Joey, please fill out an adoption application. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.NAME: HobartBREED: Australian ShepherdDOB: Nov 26, 2025 (10 weeks)GENDER: maleHome Recommendation: Hobart would do best in a home that can provide a safe, structured, and loving environment. A puppy-proofed space, a consistent routine, and patience for training are important. An active home that can offer supervision, playtime, and positive reinforcement will help him grow into a confident, well-adjusted dog.Personality: Hobart is a very energetic and playful pup with an abundance of joyful puppy energy. He absolutely loves to play and thrives on interaction, especially during playtime. Curious and affectionate by nature, he loves being around peopleespecially when theres attention, toys, or fun involved. Hes also starting to show just how smart he is, quickly picking up on routines and enjoying time spent exploring his surroundings.KIDS: YesDOGS: YesCATS: YesTraining: Hobart is currently working on basic puppy skills, including potty training, crate training, and leash exposure. He is learning household routines and will benefit from consistency, positive reinforcement, and continued practice. Dogs like Hobart were rejected for reasons ranging from birth defects, being born with the wrong color fur or eyes, or just simply because no one wanted to purchase them. When the dogs are not sold, the puppy mills destroy them, and it is legal to do so. Story
FOREVER HOME NEEDED!!  Kubo came to us in 2020, and was adopted relatively quickly! Unfortunately, his owners could not handle Kubo and it led to them needing to return him. He was terrified upon being back at the kennel, a completely different dog than what had came to us originally. We found Kubo a wonderful foster home where he has been for 2 years! He never receives ANY interest . We are now desperate. Kubo's foster is returning to work and will not have enough time to care for him. This poor boy needs his FOREVER home ASAP!!! Kubo is a very smart 5 year old cuddle bug. He LOVES to cuddle on his person and be around them. He has been undergoing training and has come such a long way. Kubo is good with other dogs but can be very vocal when seeing them outside which is part of what his training has consisted of. He would do amazing in a lower traffic home with adults/older teens. If you are interested in Kubo, visit EHRDOGS.ORG and fill out an application for KUBO (function () { // Only on animal detail pages if (!/\/animals\/detail/i.test(location.pathname)) return; // Debounce to avoid double-fire (touchend + click, etc.) var lastNavAt = 0; function toFullSize(url) { try { var u = new URL(url, location.href); u.searchParams.delete('width'); u.searchParams.delete('height'); return u.toString(); } catch (e) { return url || ''; } } function looksLikeAnimalPhoto(url) { return /\/pictures\/animals\/\d+\/\d+\/[^?#]+\.(jpg|jpeg|png|gif)/i.test(url || ''); } function handler(e) { var el = e.target; if (!el) return; // Find the closest anchor or image in the click path var a = el.closest ? el.closest('a') : null; var img = el.closest ? el.closest('img') : null; var url = ''; // Prefer anchor href if it points to an animal photo if (a && a.getAttribute) { var href = a.getAttribute('href') || ''; if (href && (href.indexOf('/pictures/animals/') !== -1 || looksLikeAnimalPhoto(href))) { url = href; } } // Otherwise fall back to the image src if (!url && img && img.getAttribute) { var src = img.getAttribute('src') || ''; if (src && (src.indexOf('/pictures/animals/') !== -1 || looksLikeAnimalPhoto(src))) { url = src; } } if (!url) return; // Absolute URL + full-size version try { url = new URL(url, location.href).toString(); } catch (_) {} url = toFullSize(url); // Stop PrettyPhoto (and any other delegated click handlers) e.preventDefault(); e.stopPropagation(); if (e.stopImmediatePropagation) e.stopImmediatePropagation(); // Debounce var now = Date.now(); if (now - lastNavAt < 500) return; lastNavAt = now; // SAME TAB navigation to the full-size image location.href = url; } // Capture phase is the key: we get the event before PrettyPhoto. Story
Churro is a very cute, petite girl who is about 9 months old and around 25 lbs, and she likely won’t grow much more. She has a sweet, gentle nature and is the type of dog who happily rolls right over for belly rubs. Churro walks well on leash and does great with all people, kids and other dogs but is not a fan of cats. She’s affectionate without being overwhelming and would make a wonderful companion for just about any home. She is crate trained and house trained.  Churro is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. If you think this little sweetheart could be the one for you, apply at ehrdogs.org. (function () { // Only on animal detail pages if (!/\/animals\/detail/i.test(location.pathname)) return; // Debounce to avoid double-fire (touchend + click, etc.) var lastNavAt = 0; function toFullSize(url) { try { var u = new URL(url, location.href); u.searchParams.delete('width'); u.searchParams.delete('height'); return u.toString(); } catch (e) { return url || ''; } } function looksLikeAnimalPhoto(url) { return /\/pictures\/animals\/\d+\/\d+\/[^?#]+\.(jpg|jpeg|png|gif)/i.test(url || ''); } function handler(e) { var el = e.target; if (!el) return; // Find the closest anchor or image in the click path var a = el.closest ? el.closest('a') : null; var img = el.closest ? el.closest('img') : null; var url = ''; // Prefer anchor href if it points to an animal photo if (a && a.getAttribute) { var href = a.getAttribute('href') || ''; if (href && (href.indexOf('/pictures/animals/') !== -1 || looksLikeAnimalPhoto(href))) { url = href; } } // Otherwise fall back to the image src if (!url && img && img.getAttribute) { var src = img.getAttribute('src') || ''; if (src && (src.indexOf('/pictures/animals/') !== -1 || looksLikeAnimalPhoto(src))) { url = src; } } if (!url) return; // Absolute URL + full-size version try { url = new URL(url, location.href).toString(); } catch (_) {} url = toFullSize(url); // Stop PrettyPhoto (and any other delegated click handlers) e.preventDefault(); e.stopPropagation(); if (e.stopImmediatePropagation) e.stopImmediatePropagation(); // Debounce var now = Date.now(); if (now - lastNavAt < 500) return; lastNavAt = now; // SAME TAB navigation to the full-size image location.href = url; } // Capture phase is the key: we get the event before PrettyPhoto. Story
This sweet and spirited girl is Sombra. She weighs around 40 pounds and is approximately 1 year old. Poor Sombra was found at a rural country church with a short rope around her neck and the other end tied to a railing. A kind person saw her and took her to the local animal control. Now she is with Eleventh Hour Rescue waiting to find a REAL home with people who will love her. Sombra LOVES to play and does great with other dogs. She is currently being fostered at Pack Mentality LLC and enjoys running around with the other dogs. She is at her best when she can spend her days being active. Sombra is treat motivated which helps with training, she walks well on a leash but needs to work on her manners when other dogs pass by. She would very much prefer to be off leash when she’s meeting new friends. Sombra is housebroken and her foster said she is super sweet, and will make a great companion! If you'd like to meet Sombra, please fill out an adoption application at www.ehrdogs.org and be sure to mention her name - SOMBRA SCAS!
