Story

Andy is a wonderful senior beagle dog, with the right amount of lazy, and spunk. Unfortunately, my family is going in all sort of directions, and we believe it's best for our beagle to not live in an apartment. We think he'd fit best in a family with maybe older kids, teens, middle-aged, or even senior adults. He's 10 years old, so he won't be needing a lot of exercise. He's doing great with other dogs, he's a bit shy in the beginning. Very very affectionate dog, he'll love you to pieces.

Sandy was received from my elderly parents who can no longer care for him. He has not been socialized with people or other animals. He become anxious. He is 1.5 years old and is extremely loyal. He is naturally trainable. Sandy is able to chase, retrieve, and return a ball. He will use the potty when you take him out. However, he will follow you if you walk away. He will need to be socialized. My busy schedule requires crating him most of the day. I want him to continue in a loving home and have freedom to roam.

Sadly, her person recently had to move into assisted living and Mika could not go along. Through no fault of her own, this sweet girl is now hoping someone will open their heart and give her another chance at a home. Despite the big changes in her life, Mika has been incredibly gentle and well behaved in the shelter. She is quiet, easygoing, and very polite, doing her best to keep her kennel as clean as she can. It’s clear that she has been a well-loved companion and understands how to live peacefully in a home. Mika is house trained, good with children, dog friendly, and even cat friendly, making her a wonderful fit for many different families. She doesn’t ask for much — just a comfortable place to rest, a little kindness, and someone to share her days with. After spending 12 years being someone’s loyal companion, Mika deserves to spend her senior years in a warm home with a soft bed, loving hands, and a family who will cherish her. I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control, and I’m so happy to be safe and loved while I wait for my forever family. I just went into a foster home, so we’ll be learning even more about me soon-but for now, just know I’m already feeling grateful, hopeful, and excited for this new chapter! I needed a good dental cleaning when I arrived, so I’ve had that. I’m also heartworm positive and I’ll be treated for that in early April and I hope to be with my new family before my treatment starts. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I was friendly with them. If you have a nice doggie at home already, let’s meet and see if we can be pals. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: The volunteers report that I’m a very friendly and happy girl with a sweet and calm nature. I was a superb bather - relaxed in the tub and so patient during my extensive ear cleaning. I have a peaceful side, but I’m also a happy and playful pup who enjoys having fun. / Energy Level: 3–5. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program, so I've mastered the 'sit', 'stay', 'down', 'come', 'drop it', 'leave it' and 'place' commands. I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. My ‘sit’ and ‘down’ commands need to be on soft surfaces please as I don’t like doing those on a hard surface. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts but I didn’t use one in my temp. foster home. I would bark for a few minutes right after my temp. foster left the home, but I quickly stopped. / I’ve had a few accidents on the shelter schedule, but not too many, and I had pretty good potty habits in my temp. foster home where I similarly had very few accidents, so please keep me on a good schedule and I think I’ll do well. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I love spending time with the nice volunteers and having fun, too. Cuddling and snuggling with my people is one of my favorite things to do! Pup-Peroni treats are super yummy, and I’ll happily smile for the camera - the photographer even said I was a sweet, fun, and friendly subject! I’m sure we’ll discover lots of other things we’ll like doing together / I can’t think of any dislikes, but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’ve just had a dental cleaning with a few extractions, so my mouth is fresh again. Since I wasn't kept on heartworm prevention in my previous home, I'm HW positive. The good news is that I'll be treated for that in early April and Mostly Mutts will cover the cost of that treatment with their vet, so local adoption please. I hope to be with my family before treatment starts. Since I'm a Dachshund mix, I naturally have a long back which is subject to injury, so please don't allow me to jump on and off furniture so we can keep me safe and healthy. I’m currently in a wonderful foster home enjoying life while I wait for the day someone comes along and chooses me to be their very own. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I enjoyed hanging out with two dogs in one of my temp. foster homes as well as playing with some dogs I met at the Mostly Mutts shelter, so if you have a nice doggie at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I was a bit scared when I arrived at the shelter but began to blossom quickly. Then the weather got really cold and there was an ‘all call’ for temporary fosters to host us until the weather passed, I went to a nice home and gained even more confidence there and had a great time, too! I have a quiet and gentle nature, and my foster said I am ‘just a lovely dog’ who will be a great addition to a lucky family. With my cute little face, I am ready to charm my new family and live a great life with them. / My energy level is 6-7 so I have pep in my step at 10 years old. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I know the ‘sit’ and ‘come’ commands and walk well on my leash, too. Let's continue my training together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! / My crate manners have been good at Mostly Mutts and in my temp. foster homes, too. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule with only a few accidents, and they were good in my temp. foster homes. • LIKES/DISLIKES: My favorite thing is being with my people. Whether we are enjoying a nice walk or cuddling on the couch, I treasure those times. I love to be in a lap, so make room for me, and let’s cuddle! I also enjoy playing fetch and throwing my toys up in the air when I play. / I was VERY nervous during the car ride from the shelter to my foster home. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I had a good dental cleaning and a few teeth removed, so my mouth is fresh again. I also had a large tumor removed from my right hind quarter, so that feels better! Just ask about it.
