Story
Pete is a 4-year-old neutered Beagle who is sweet, cuddly, friendly, and full of classic Beagle charm. Through no fault of his own, Pete is looking for a new home after his previous family went through a major life change.
Pete loves being near his people and will happily be your little shadow. He’ll lay by your feet while you work or watch TV, and he loves hopping up on couches or chairs to lounge close by. Separation anxiety / crate note: Pete does have a little separation anxiety, but he is not destructive. He simply loves his people and may need a little reassurance as he adjusts. The good news is that Pete can be crated while his humans are out running errands, and he will nap comfortably while waiting for you to return. With routine, structure, and consistency, Pete settles well.
He has also made great progress with crate training. After just a few days, he is getting more comfortable and will even go into his crate on his own to nap or sleep with the door open. He may still need a little encouragement at times, but he is learning that the crate can be a safe, restful place.
Pete knows basic commands, is house-trained, and has done well with other dogs and children. He can be a little nervous in new settings at first, but once he has structure and consistency, his happy, affectionate personality comes through.
Like most Beagles, Pete has a busy nose and loves to sniff, explore, and follow interesting scents. He also enjoys chasing little animals in the yard, so secure outdoor time and supervision are important.
Pete is currently a little overweight and would benefit from an adopter who can help him with regular walks, activity, and measured meals to help him slim down in a healthy way.
If you want a sweet, loyal Beagle buddy who wants to be by your side, nap near your feet, and enjoy life with his humans, Pete may be the perfect fit.
