Story
MEET BOOMER! Boomer the Beagle is around 9 years old and joined the rescue after finding his way to a local shelter as a stray. While a little rough around the edges from fending for himself, Boomer's happy and goofy personality was still very apparent. Boomer has happily settled in with his foster family and is ready to lay down roots somewhere permanent! Boomer is happily living with other dogs in foster care and loves to romp around the yard with them. He has become fast friends with his foster sister who is an energetic large dog. He'll do his best zoomies while she tries to catch him but she rarely does! Boomer has done well meeting several new dogs but in true Beagle fashion, can be vocal when first meeting them. He is also living with dog-savvy cats and while he's interested in them and wants to interact, he responds well to their corrections and will back off. We recommend he live with cats who aren't afraid to be the boss. Like most Beagles, Boomer likes to follow his nose so it's important that his future yard be secure so he can't slip through a gap while following a scent. Boomer LOVES his people and will probably follow you around the house just to see what you're doing. He'll happily snuggle on the couch with you or in bed (if you let him). He'll definitely be your little shadow which is the highest compliment, honestly. Boomer is a happy, playful little dog who loves to play fetch but doesn't always want to release the toy. He will happily trade for another though! He also loves to destroy plush toys and dissect them, but is very good about not eating the pieces. Because he loves toys so much and might not know the difference between his and kids' toys, we recommend he live in a home with older kids. Boomer is crate trained and does well in it while you're at work. He is also housebroken! Boomer is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is also heartworm and lyme's disease negative. Interested in adopting him? Visit cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire or email us at info@cityofelderlylove.org!

Story
This sweet gal was found wandering around a city dump. A stranger rescued her but could not keep her so, she ended up at our shelter. She is a bit overweight, but we are working on that. She has a very kind disposition and gets along with other dogs of all ages. Puppies are a bit much for her, though, so she would do better around older dogs. Older kids would probably also be best for her. She is housetrained and will need a little work on a leash. She does like to be around people and can be a bit talkative when left alone (she does settle down). She gets around great, and her weight doesn’t stop her from jumping on a comfortable couch! She’s just an older lady needing a forever home with a laid-back family… some exercise is needed, but not too much. We also use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We transport every weekend, alternating between the Northeast and the Midwest.

Story
Dear diary, I've been in my foster home for a while now waiting for my forever home. I'm generally a nervous girl, but I feel safe to trust my foster humans, and I've even been spending some time with other doggies! I've discovered that even though I feel bashful at first, I reeeeeeally like playtime with other canine companions - sometimes I get big bursts of energy and can hardly contain myself! At the same time, I'm still an introvert, and I need my "relax and recharge" time, which I usually spend hanging out in my crate with one of my favorite toys. I've been having a blast, but I'm still really excited to find a forever home with someone who is as gentle and sweet as me. I've also decided that I cannot go to a home that doesn't have a doggie companion for me - I need a canine friend to help ease my mind. I will keep you posted... Story
With heavy hearts, we are seeking to rehome our dog, Romeo. He is such a sweet cuddly boy, and our best bud. He fetches and is great on long hikes! However, since he was a puppy, he has had serious resource guarding issues. If he had a bully stick he would protect it at all costs and would bite if you tried to take it away. Same with food. We sent him away for intensive training and now he is incredibly well trained. Unfortunately, Romeo still has some aggression, mostly related to protecting our family (we have two young children). We do not have any fears with Romeo around us or are children, but his protective behavior is becoming too difficult for us to manage especially because we live in a school neighborhood with lots of kids and dogs. We think he would do great in a situation with less commotion, with owners who want a great companion but who are committed to meeting his needs and are comfortable training and managing dogs with guarding and protective aggression.

Story
Meet Boo Boo!Boo Boo was rescued from a hoarding situation last summer with over 200 other animals. He is a tender-hearted pup who is working on building his confidence and stepping out of his shell. With each day that passes, he becomes more courageous and open to exploring the world around him. While he continues to grow, Boo Boo dreams of a home where he can share his journey with another dog, seeking the comfort, companionship, and guidance of another canine. He is also open to meeting cats and older kids that can respect his timid nature. Stop by the shelter any day between 12- 6:30pm to meet him!_______________The Pennsylvania SPCA350 E Erie Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19134Kennel #3079
