After a difficult start in life and a long trip north, he is getting the opportunity to decompress, build confidence, and experience the comfort and stability of a home environment.Beckett is an 8–10-month-old Border Collie/Retriever mix who was found as a terrified stray alongside his two siblings in rural Georgia. The puppies were so frightened that they had to be safely captured using a live trap before they could be brought to safety.Since arriving at the shelter, Beckett made remarkable progress. While initially very fearful, he gradually learned to trust the people caring for him and began showing his sweet, gentle personality. Shelter staff watched him grow more comfortable each day and described him as a very nice boy who continued making positive strides. Now in foster care, Beckett is continuing that journey. As a young dog with an unknown background, he is still learning many of the basics and will benefit from patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement as he adjusts to his new surroundings. His foster family is helping him build confidence while learning more about his personality and needs.Beckett is dog friendly and enjoys the company of other dogs. He has not yet been tested with cats or children.Age: 8–10 monthsGender: MaleWeight: Approximately 40 lbsBreed: Border Collie/Retriever Mix (best guess)Neutered: YesPotty Trained: YesCrate Trained: LearningLeash Manners: ImprovingGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: Not testedGood with Kids: Not testedBeckett is now safe in Wisconsin and getting the fresh start he deserves. Once he has had time to settle in and his foster family gets to know him better, he will be looking for a forever home of his own.To learn more about Beckett or apply to adopt, visit www.muttlife.org.__________Adoption fees include the cost of spay/neuter procedure, up-to-date dewormer, vaccinations, heartworm prevention (age appropriate), and certified veterinarian inspection within 30 days of adoption. __________Review adoption requirements and ensure you meet the necessary criteria to apply!https://www.muttlife.org/adoption-policies_________ADOPTION PROCESS:1.) Apply: Fill out an adoption application completely and submit all necessary documents.2.) Application Decision: approved applicants will be notified via phone call and email.3.) Foster-to-Adopt Trial Period: After approval, you have the opportunity to do a meet and greet and bring your dog home! You get a 5-day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure it's the right fit.4.) Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue.5.) Home Visit: After the adoption process, we conduct a home visit either in person or via Zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have.6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: For dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse $125 for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. We recommend going to HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI for the most affordable option. If you would like to go through your veterinarian or another location, that works too!**Note: Adoptions are not considered final until the dog is neutered/spayed if applicable**

Story
About Me: Name: Bodie Breed (or best guess): Possibly Border Collie/Basset Approximate Age: 11 yr Gender: Male Approximate Weight: 30 lb Adoption Fee: $395 Requirements: Loving family, only dog  Why In Rescue: Owner Surrender Profile:   Bodie lost his home due to his owner's health.  He is a happy, loving guy who would prefer to be the only dog.  He enjoys walks with the volunteers.  He is an older guy who appreciates gentle touches.  Because of his age, we feel he would be happiest with no children or only older children in the home.  He will be getting a dental and senior bloodwork prior to being adopted, but you can apply for him now.  He is looking forward to being part of a family again.  If interested in this nice boy, please fill out the pre-adoption application. We do put the needs of the dog's first, so it is nothing personal if we determine a particular dog isn't suitable for your specific home and living situation. If interested in adoption, the first step is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  If link isn't clickable, please copy/paste or visit http://www.bichonrescues.com.  Please note, filling out inquiry forms on Petfinder or Adoptapet and/or their application forms does not constitute an application for one of our dogs.  Priority in responding to inquires and applications is always to the applications filled out on our website, time constraints limit the number of other inquires we can reply to. We do our best to evaluate the dogs while they are with us, but they sometimes act different in the shelter environment than they do in a home.  Many times we do not know the actual breed/mix or age of the dog, in that case we use our best guess as to breed and age.   We are located in Mukwonago, WI.  Adopters must come to us, we do not ship our dogs.  Please do not apply for a dog until you are ready to adopt.  Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog.  All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $495 for most adults and up to $650 for puppies which includes Wi State Sales Tax.  Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer.  Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections.  To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $100 (up to $260 value).  You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts.  You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee.  For more information on the classes visit www.forpetssake.cc  More important information: ***We are a Wisconsin based rescue and do not ship our pets.  If you are considering adoption you must be willing to drive to meet and adopt the pet, as well as bring the pet back to us if the adoption doesn't work.  We adopt primarily in WI and IL, but will consider applicants in MN, IA, and MI.*** ***Please do not set up an appointment to meet the animals until you are ready to take your pet home.  If the meeting results in a match, you can often take the dog/cat home the same day or within a couple days if the medical care hasn't been completed.  We are not able to hold pets for adopters beyond this time.  Thanks for understanding.*** ***While we hope all of our adoptions lead to permanent homes for the animals we place, sometimes things just don't work out.  We do have a 30 day trial period.  For the first 30 days, if you or Bichon and Little Buddies decide that the adoption isn't a good match for either the humans or the pet, the adoption fee will be refunded minus $100 within 30 days of the return of the dog.  Bichon and Little Buddies also requires adopters to return the pet to us at any time that they are unable or unwilling to care for the animal anymore.*** ***We do not show dogs without an appointment.  The first step in adoption is filling out the pre-adoption application at http://www.bichonrescues.com/pre-adoption-form-dog  Please do not call/email until AFTER you have filled out an application.*** Bichon and Little Buddies is a State Licensed Rescue # 268555-DS July 3, 2026, 6:29 pm

Story
Ellie is a Velcro dog who loves to play nonstop. I have had her since she was 7 weeks old and love her incredibly. Because I love her so much I know with my insane work schedule and her need for constant attention and exercise that I am no longer able to make her happy. My partner and I work overtime and travel a lot for work and we do not want her to be miserable. For the same reason we don’t want human children, we know we need to find a better family for her last leg of life to be her happiest.
