Bartleby here! I’m guessed to be about one year old & a border collie mix, & I’ve topped out at about 55lbs. Mom says I’m a very good boy. I sleep quietly through the night, & my manners are impeccable. I get along with my doggy foster siblings - all various sizes & personalities. I don’t live with any cats, but I’ve had interactions with them & am very respectful. I’ll do best in a home with kids over 10 or younger ones who know to be patient with me as I’m a very shy boy until I warm up. Another dog is preferred for me - I always look to my foster siblings to tell me what to do in a new situation & they help me feel more confident - but it’s not required for the right fit. My new family will need to be patient as I come out of my shell, but the reward is worth the wait. I’m the sweetest boy and love being near my people. I’m looking for a very special family who is willing to go at my pace instead of forcing me to go at theirs. I need a calm home where I can feel safe and continue building my confidence on my time. Puppies are magnificent! I am cute, rambunctious, lively and fun. I have so much to learn, discover and explore - just a tiny sponge who is ready to absorb everything you have to teach me and show me. I am counting on you to help me safely navigate the world and experience new things each day to allow me to grow into a confident young dog. That isn't as exotic and daunting a task as it might sound. Each day I just need to be introduced to one new thing like the sound of a vacuum, a blender or a door bell, walking up and down a step, a ride in a car, hearing a motorcycle or a truck, going somewhere to see new people, even maneuvering a fallen log on a walk. You get the idea, so many things that seem common to you are completely new to me. Speaking of growing, I may be tiny now but I do plan on getting bigger so I would love to take obedience classes to learn proper manners and social skills. I also know I have to practice something called house-training so I know proper potty behavior. A routine and lots of yummy treats and praise will go a long way to helping me master house-training when I potty outside. Puppies and dogs need love, exercise, mental stimulation and consistency to be healthy, happy and confident. I am typically very open to all sorts of housemates; I can be a bit mischievous and may find any other critter as a potential playmate so they will need to understand that about me. I often explore the world with my mouth and while I am teething I like to chew; my little puppy teeth are very sharp so if I am around children we should always be supervised. It is important that children learn about respecting me, too, and treat me gently because I am fragile. Raising a puppy is a big responsibility, a lot of work, and it may interrupt your sleep cycle for a bit, but a courteous and well-behaved dog is certainly worth the investment and I promise to be loyal, love you unconditionally and be a companion forever. I just know I will bring joy and laughter into your home and cannot wait to meet you. Let the adventures begin!

We got Buca as a puppy and she has been a wonderful dog. She loves older children and is great with our two other dogs but we recently had a grand daughter and to say the least, Buca is not impressed. She showed aggression towards her and our biggest fear is making contact with her teeth and our grand daughter's face. Was too close of a call. Hoping someone is looking for a companion who is VERY well potty trained, loves to cuddle and is usually very sweet. Not great on a leash if other strange dogs walk by. We have a large fenced in yard, so that is where they usually get their exercise and play time. She is almost 10 and we just pray she finds a new family that will love her in the later days of her life. P.S. You will never guess she is almost 10. Acts like she's 5. :)
