Story
Hi! My name’s Houston. If you want a dog to snuggle, I’m your guy! I’d spend all day right next to you getting belly rubs if I could. Really, though, I’m way too smart to laze around. I know sit, down, stay, high five, hug, orbit, between, wait, and I can even turn off the lights! Learning tricks is one of my favorite activities and I can pick up new ones in just a day or two. I love to run outside and play in the hose, but my favorite game of all is tug of war. (I'll even let you win sometimes!) I’m kennel trained, house trained, and I do amazing being left alone. In fact, I do some of my best snoozing in my crate while I wait patiently for you to come home. I’m getting better on the leash all the time. I’d do best in a home with older children, because I’m still learning how to contain all my excitement around the little ones. Since I've been looking for a home for a while, I think I'd prefer to be the only doggo so I don't have to share. I'm a young guy and weigh around 60 pounds, so I’m pretty much the perfect size! I’ve got so much love to share and I absolutely cannot wait to meet you! You'll get to see my cute little nub of a tail wag and wag when I'm happy and *that* will make you happy, too! Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 to find out more about me! I'm in the Kansas City metro, but my human friends will transport me to the right home. #thepetconnection

Story
Hi there, I’m Fletch! I’m such a good boy. When you see me wiggle my butt in pure joy at the mere sight of you, you’ll know we were meant to be together. I’m smart and playful and goofy and so affectionate. I’m the perfect combination of energetic and fun mixed with cuddly and chill. And there is simply no place on earth I’d rather be than right by your side. My life hasn’t always been easy, but that just makes me more grateful for everything good that comes my way. I will make the best companion for you, if you just give me a chance. I am handsome, strong, and athletic, with beautiful brindle fur, the cutest floppy ears, and a charming, delightful personality. I’m even already fully housebroken and crate trained too. I’ve been through lots of instability and change in my life lately. I was feeling stressed and nervous at the big shelter where I was staying, before getting rescued by the kind people at The Pet Connection. They understood my insecurities and quickly found a loving foster home for me. My foster family makes me feel safe and cared for and so special. Ah, I can finally relax. Now all I need is for you to find me and welcome me into your family! Living in my foster home has been fantastic! I quickly and happily settled in with my new routine. I stay in my crate at night and when no one is home, and I do really well there, after a little initial crying. I’m very well behaved in the house, and I try my best not to cause any trouble at all. I’m highly trainable and I pick up on new things quickly, so please teach me. I’m currently working on controlling my excitement level when I play. It will help me if you stay calm and easygoing with me, instead of engaging me in rough play. I’m eager to make you happy, and I’m ready to learn and experience everything life has to offer. Once I know I’m home, you’ll find me to be a mostly quiet, affectionate friend who loves to curl up next to you on the couch for plenty of kisses and snuggles, or to keep myself entertained with my toys. I like everyone I meet, but sometimes I can be jumpy, so I’ll probably be happiest in a home without small kids. I wouldn’t want to accidentally knock anyone over. I’m an active fella, and I will need daily exercise to help me stay happy, healthy, and calm. I absolutely love going for walks and I do quite well on my leash. I keep my distance from other dogs on their walks, and that works just great for me. I’d love a fenced yard to run and play in! I really enjoy being outside, but I’ve been known to jump high and chase things, so I am a flight risk. Please keep a close eye on me whenever I’m outside, and make sure my fenced area is safe and secure. I’ll be happiest as your only dog. I want all your love and attention for myself! Still, I might do OK with other chill, tolerant dogs, given a proper introduction. Mostly, I’m just looking for a home with patient, kind, calm people who want to spend time with me, who will encourage and reassure me when I get nervous, and who will help me realize that I’m finally home. That’s all I’ve ever wanted. Please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 if you can give me the forever home I've been looking for. I'm in the KC area, but my human friends say we can go for a ride in the car (yay!!) to my new home, even if it's not right here in Kansas City. #thepetconnection #fletch #happy #socute #adoptdontshop

Story
Hi there, I’m Griffin! I’m such a character! I’m silly and curious and cuddly and smart, all wrapped into one fantastic friend. I’m a little on the shy side when meeting new people, but once we bond, there is no place on earth I’d rather be than right by your side. I hope maybe you’re looking for a dog just like me to welcome into your life. Maybe you need me as much as I need you? I hope so! I’m an adorable, three-year-old boxer mix, with the cutest, frowny, snaggle toothed face that is sure to make you smile, and a delightful personality. I’m even already housebroken, and I have experience in a crate, too. I am so polite and well behaved in my foster home. I don’t bother a thing, even when no one is home. At night, I sleep on the couch or in a chair without making a peep. During the day, I do get the zoomies every now and then--I like to make you laugh, after all! Foster Mom has loved watching my sweet personality blossom. It makes me so happy just to see her, and I am always game to do whatever she feels like doing. Sometimes we go for leisurely walks around our property, taking in all the beautiful sights and smells of nature. Other times, when she has to work, I quietly rest my head on the arm of her chair, her constant companion. I also love car rides and movie night and just chilling out on the couch together as she pets me or rubs my belly. As long as I’m with you, I’m happy! I love running and playing and exploring in a fenced yard, but I also do well in a country setting, where my foster home is located. I don’t react to the chicks or ducks or geese.I like to eat my meals and high value treats in a quiet, peaceful place, where I know no one will bother me. I’ll be happiest as your only dog. I’m looking for a low-key, quiet, calm home without a lot of commotion, and with kind people who love spending time with me. I’ll be happiest in a home with adults or older, dog savvy kids. Younger kids just make me nervous. For the right home, I will make such a nice friend. I’m just a sweet dog, looking for a simple, peaceful life with people I love. That’s all. I can’t wait to show you how it feels to be loved unconditionally. I’m an expert at that! Please, let me show you what a good boy I am. Love, Griffin For more info on Griffin, contact The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387. He's in the KC metro, but transport is available to the right home! #thepetconnection

Story
Adira has been through so much. Despite this - she has always powered through with a heart full of love. She wasn't always treated very kindly, and had to go through a grueling heartworm treatment when she got to us. Every day, regardless of how difficult, she was so excited to see staff and volunteers. There's still so much good in the world for this girl to see, could you be the one to show her?

Story
My name is Babies and I am ready to be the best girl in your home or apartment. I am a refined lady and always use my manners, such as, sitting at the door when we are getting ready to go on an adventure! They say you shouldn't ask a lady her age but I am ok telling you that I am 5 years old and I don't look a day over 3! I am obsessed with peanut butter and if you are up for it, I'd LOVE to play tug-o-war or snuggle on the couch while we watch a movie or read a book. I will even share you with kids and cats. Sound like a good time? Call and set up an appointment to meet me today!

Story
Hey!!! Zimmy here...and I need to get out of the shelter! I'm 6 years old and I don't have time for all these young pups, staying up all hours of the night barking and playing around like they don't have any sense. Silly kids. To be honest, it is kinda stressful. I am in excellent shape and have had all my shots so I am ready to walk out that door. I won't need to pack anything - you will be all I'll ever need again. Let's see, what else? I prefer a walk in the woods and sniffing the world around me (there's so much to smell and learn!). I prefer playing with my toys and snacking on fine peanut butter filled Kong balls. SPOILER: I was a professional soccer player in a former life. Come kick it with me!!
