Story
Hi! My name’s Houston. If you want a dog to snuggle, I’m your guy! I’d spend all day right next to you getting belly rubs if I could. Really, though, I’m way too smart to laze around. I know sit, down, stay, high five, hug, orbit, between, wait, and I can even turn off the lights! Learning tricks is one of my favorite activities and I can pick up new ones in just a day or two. I love to run outside and play in the hose, but my favorite game of all is tug of war. (I'll even let you win sometimes!) I’m kennel trained, house trained, and I do amazing being left alone. In fact, I do some of my best snoozing in my crate while I wait patiently for you to come home. I’m getting better on the leash all the time. I’d do best in a home with older children, because I’m still learning how to contain all my excitement around the little ones. Since I've been looking for a home for a while, I think I'd prefer to be the only doggo so I don't have to share. I'm a young guy and weigh around 60 pounds, so I’m pretty much the perfect size! I’ve got so much love to share and I absolutely cannot wait to meet you! You'll get to see my cute little nub of a tail wag and wag when I'm happy and *that* will make you happy, too! Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 to find out more about me! I'm in the Kansas City metro, but my human friends will transport me to the right home. #thepetconnection

Story
Hi there, I’m Fletch! I’m such a good boy. When you see me wiggle my butt in pure joy at the simple sight of you, you’ll know we were meant to be together. I’m smart and playful and goofy and so affectionate. I’m the perfect combination of energetic and fun mixed with cuddly and chill. And there is simply no place on earth I’d rather be than right by your side. My life hasn’t always been easy, but that just makes me more grateful for everything good that comes my way. I will make the best companion for you, if you just give me a chance. I am handsome, strong, and athletic, with beautiful brindle fur, the cutest floppy ears, and a charming, delightful personality. I’m even already fully housebroken and crate trained too. I’ve been through lots of instability and change in my life lately. I was feeling stressed and nervous at the big shelter where I was staying, before getting rescued by the kind people at The Pet Connection. They understood my insecurities and quickly found a loving foster home for me. My foster family makes me feel safe and cared for and so special. Ah, I can finally relax. Now all I need is for you to find me and welcome me into your family! Living in my foster home has been fantastic! I quickly and happily settled in with my new routine. I stay in my crate at night and when no one is home, and I do really well there, after a little initial crying. I’m very well behaved in the house, and I try my best not to cause any trouble at all. I’m highly trainable and I pick up on new things quickly, so please teach me. I’m currently working on controlling my excitement level when I play. It will help me if you stay calm and easygoing with me, instead of engaging me in rough play. I’m eager to make you happy, and I’m ready to learn and experience everything life has to offer. Once I know I’m home, you’ll find me to be a mostly quiet, affectionate friend who loves to curl up next to you on the couch for plenty of kisses and snuggles, or to keep myself entertained with my toys. I like everyone I meet, but sometimes I can be jumpy, so I’ll probably be happiest in a home without small kids. I wouldn’t want to accidentally knock anyone over. I’m an active fella, and I will need daily exercise to help me stay happy, healthy, and calm. I absolutely love going for walks and I do quite well on my leash. I keep my distance from other dogs on their walks, and that works just great for me. I’d love a fenced yard to run and play in! I really enjoy being outside, but I’ve been known to jump high and chase things, so I am a flight risk. Please keep a close eye on me whenever I’m outside, and make sure my fenced area is safe and secure. I’ll be happiest as your only dog. I want all your love and attention for myself! Still, I might do OK with other chill, tolerant dogs, given a proper introduction. Mostly, I’m just looking for a home with patient, kind, calm people who want to spend time with me, who will encourage and reassure me when I get nervous, and who will help me realize that I’m finally home. That’s all I’ve ever wanted. Please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 if you can give me the forever home I've been looking for. I'm in the KC area, but my human friends say we can go for a ride in the car (yay!!) to my new home, even if it's not right here in Kansas City. #thepetconnection #fletch #happy #socute #adoptdontshop

Story
Hi there, I’m Griffin! I’m such a character! I’m silly and curious and cuddly and smart, all wrapped into one fantastic friend. I’m a little on the shy side when meeting new people, but once we bond, there is no place on earth I’d rather be than right by your side. I hope maybe you’re looking for a dog just like me to welcome into your life. Maybe you need me as much as I need you? I hope so! I’m an adorable, three-year-old boxer mix, with the cutest, frowny, snaggle toothed face that is sure to make you smile, and a delightful personality. I’m even already housebroken, and I have experience in a crate, too. I am so polite and well behaved in my foster home. I don’t bother a thing, even when no one is home. At night, I sleep on the couch or in a chair without making a peep. During the day, I do get the zoomies every now and then--I like to make you laugh, after all! Foster Mom has loved watching my sweet personality blossom. It makes me so happy just to see her, and I am always game to do whatever she feels like doing. Sometimes we go for leisurely walks around our property, taking in all the beautiful sights and smells of nature. Other times, when she has to work, I quietly rest my head on the arm of her chair, her constant companion. I also love car rides and movie night and just chilling out on the couch together as she pets me or rubs my belly. As long as I’m with you, I’m happy! I love running and playing and exploring in a fenced yard, but I also do well in a country setting, where my foster home is located. I don’t react to the chicks or ducks or geese, and I also successfully lived with cats at one point. I have done well with the other very laid back dogs in my foster home. We play outside together, and then coexist as we meander around the yard. They respect my space, which I like. I like to eat my meals and high value treats in a quiet, peaceful place, where I know no one will bother me. I’ll be happiest with bigger, tolerant dogs. Of course, I’ll be perfectly content as your only dog as well. I’m looking for a low-key, quiet, calm home without a lot of commotion, and with kind people who love spending time with me. I’ll be happiest in a home with adults or older, dog savvy kids. Younger kids just make me nervous. For the right home, I will make such a nice friend. I’m just a sweet dog, looking for a simple, peaceful life with people I love. That’s all. I can’t wait to show you how it feels to be loved unconditionally. I’m an expert at that! Please, let me show you what a good boy I am. Love, Griffin For more info on Griffin, contact The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387. He's in the KC metro, but transport is available to the right home! #thepetconnection

Story
We'd like to introduce you to Scotch! He's obviously super cute and the color of butterscotch and, well...scotch, the top shelf variety, of course. He's only around 50 pounds or so and has a smooshy wrinkled face that makes you just want to squeeze him. Scotch is still young, only around a year old. While a little shy at first, Scotch is a silly, playful boy who sneaks in the sweetest little kisses when you give him a minute to warm up to you. We would be remiss if we didn't mention Scotch's love for treats, particularly the bacon-flavored delicacies (aka Beggin' Strips) and dog cookies. He's isn't a fan of getting into the car, but is very calm and quiet and lays down once he's in. Scotch is also awesome in his crate! He never whines or cries and sleeps through the night with no accidents. If you already have dogs in your home, Scotch would be totally fine with that arrangement. In fact, Scotch would LOVE to have another doggo in his new home to help build his confidence. He's still a pup, so he's filled with the energy often observed in the young. He loves to play and go on walks. But don't worry, Scotch settles right down afterward for some cuddles with his people. Before being rescued, Scotch was a stray little dog living under bleachers in a park. His foster mama says he has such a gentle soul and deserves the best. We aim to make sure his life is filled with nothing but love from here on out. Text or call us at 913-671-7387 for more info about how you can give this guy the forever home he deserves. Scotch is in the Kansas City metro. #thepetconnection

Story
DOB: 12/24/19                              Weight: 75 Lbs Adoption Fee: $175 includes 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness. Indy was adopted as a puppy and returned recently.  Notes from previous family: Indy is 75 pounds of cuteness and cuddles. He loves cuddling next you on a couch or bed. He does good on walks especially when walking trails away from cars and other dogs. The grey pullover is his favorite to wear on walks when it is cold or raining. Not a fan of loud noises like fireworks or close thunder/lightning. CBD oil and thunder jackets help but only when he is leaning against you. Has not been around any cats or small children. He does good with teenagers and adults, but it takes time to feel safe around them. Ice cubes are his favorite, and he knows the sound of the ice machine. Knows when it is bedtime and just heads to sleep in his bed with his blanket. Likes to be tucked in his blanket at night. He knows the basic commands and knows to sit to wait for his food dish to be put down. Only toy he hasn’t destroyed in a few minutes is a size 5 soccer ball (slightly deflated). He does love to play fetch with a tennis ball and chase after the soccer ball.  Plays great with puppies and is gentle with them. Food can never be around because he is very food aggressive towards other dogs so we feel he should be an only dog in his family because of this. He is NOT food aggressive towards people, ever. He takes treats very gently.    OLD PROFILE: previously known as Gerard Butler Our super star “G” pups were born in our care on Christmas Eve!  Their Mom Polly came to us very pregnant and we do not know who the papa was.  These pups are so very sweet and will make a great addition to any family!  These pups are active and fun and will do best with a fenced yard to play safely and potty.  My name is Gerard Butler after the actor. I'm a really sweet boy. I love other dogs and even kitties.I'm going to make some lucky family really happy when they adopt me because of my wonderful disposition and temperament. I love everyone and am ready for my new family to come take me home  Please remember there are certain cities that do not allow Pit Bulls as well as most apartment complexes.  Indy has been neutered, wormed, microchipped, and heartworm tested and vaccinated. If you are interested in meeting/adopting him just fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on the 'Adopt A Dog' icon and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch.  Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support!
