Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Ruby is a loving, happy-go-lucky girl who enjoys being with her people and soaking up belly rubs. She has a playful spirit, likes going on walks, and is always ready for an adventure. She is curious, affectionate, and enjoys being part of whatever is going on around her. Ruby has done well with other dogs and has not shown aggression toward them. She can get excited when greeting new people and may jump up to say hello, but she responds well to kindness and consistency. She has barked at cats, so we are unsure if she would do well in a home with them. Ruby would thrive with a family that will give her plenty of love, patience, and daily activity. She has a wonderful personality and is ready to become a loyal companion. Ruby is around 2 years old and weighs about 45lbs. Story
Ace is a Husky/Boxer mix, he’s a little older than 1.5 years. He is a loving, goofy, intelligent, and very energetic boy with a huge personality. He loves walks and runs, chasing tennis balls, playing tug-of-war, getting treats, and playing with other dogs. He knows basic commands including sit, wait, place, and down, and we have been working on his recall.Ace is a high-energy dog who needs lots of exercise, attention, mental stimulation, and continued training. He also takes daily fluoxetine for separation anxiety and is crate trained, although he does not sleep in his crate. He can be cautious around new people at first but warms up once he has a chance to get comfortable. He has done well around children and other dogs and can live with cats, although he sometimes wants to play with them and needs reminders to respect their boundaries. We are looking for a loving, active home that has the time and ability to give Ace exercise, structure, and attention.

Story
Meet Freya Freya is an 6-month-old female Boxer/Pit mix puppy who is smart, playful, and full of potential. She does well with other dogs and would thrive in a home with older children who can respect puppy boundaries. Freya is very intelligent and eager to learn, and she’ll do best with an adopter ready to continue training. She would benefit from a secure yard with a tall, solid (non–chain link) fence so she can safely burn off energy and explore. Freya has already had bilateral cherry eye surgery and is doing well, with no special care needed beyond routine vet care. She’s a bright, loving pup ready to grow into an amazing companion with the right family. **Freya has poultry sensitivity and will need to be on a lamb, beef, or salmon based food*** If you are interested in meeting Freya, please fill out an application via our website at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/TRP/Dog and we will get back to you via email once your application has been reviewed. If you have further questions please feel free to reach out to us at adoptionstrp@gmail.com. Freya's adoption fee is $250 and includes age-appropriate vaccines, spay, microchip, deworm, and cherry eye surgery on both eyes.

Story
Hubbell is a wonderful dog. He's 6.5 and about as chill as can be. I had him for about 2 days before my landlord informed me she is selling our house, and we have had to make the unfortunate decision to re-home him. I didn't want him back at the shelter so we still have him, but we are also still getting to know him! Hubbell loves everyone he meets. He really just wants to snuggle. He's gentle taking treats and has been good around small children so far. He does okay on a leash, and would improve with a little training. Currently, his walks are short as he is being treated for heartworm. He has about 3 months left of his monthly treatment, and I have meds to send with him. He also does well in his kennel and I have a kennel, a bed, a leash and harness to donate, as well as any food or treats I have left. We haven't tested him with other dogs. The shelter said he was shy in play groups, and on walks he seems to want to play. Unsure of cats.

These pups are in Lees Summit, Missouri too!

Story
Approx. DOB: 11/15/24               Weight as of 5/27/26: 35 Lbs Adoption Fee: $250 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness! Skylar is a beautiful Aussie/Pit Bull mix with the most striking baby-blue eyes. She came to Furry Kids after her previous owners were no longer able to care for her. When Skylar first arrived, she was extremely fearful and had very little socialization. She was  unsure of people. Over the past year, she has made incredible progress thanks to the patience and dedication of her foster family. While she still isn't the type of dog who eagerly runs up for treats or affection, she has learned to trust the people she knows and accepts gentle pets and love on her own terms. Watching her slowly gain confidence has been incredibly rewarding. Skylar is still very timid with new people and will need an adopter who understands that trust cannot be rushed. She continues to attend our Saturday Petco adoption events to help build her confidence around new people and new environments. Every positive experience helps her take another step forward. She has done well meeting other dogs and enjoys their company. Larger dogs, especially those with rough play styles, can make her feel overwhelmed, so she prefers calmer canine companions who respect her space. A patient, confident dog in her new home could help continue teaching her that the world isn't such a scary place. Skylar is crate trained and does well in her crate. She thrives on routine, patience, and gentle encouragement. Skylar isn't looking for a family that expects an instant best friend—she's looking for someone who will celebrate the small victories. The first tail wag, the first time she chooses to come closer, the first time she truly relaxes beside you—those moments are priceless. If you have a quiet home, a patient heart, and are willing to let Skylar blossom at her own pace, you'll have the privilege of watching one of the most rewarding transformations imaginable. Could you be the person who helps Skylar write the next chapter of her story? I have been spayed, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible.   Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Story
DOB: 12/24/19                              Weight: 75 Lbs Adoption Fee: $175 includes 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness. Indy is 75 pounds of cuteness and cuddles. He loves cuddling next you on a couch or bed. He does good on walks especially when walking trails away from cars and other dogs.  Not a fan of loud noises like fireworks or close thunder/lightning. CBD oil and thunder jackets help but only when he is leaning against you. Has not been around any cats or small children. He does good with teenagers and adults, but it takes time to feel safe around them. Ice cubes are his favorite, and he knows the sound of the ice machine. Knows when it is bedtime and just heads to sleep in his bed with his blanket. Likes to be tucked in his blanket at night. He knows the basic commands and knows to sit to wait for his food dish to be put down. Only toy he hasn’t destroyed in a few minutes is a size 5 soccer ball (slightly deflated). He does love to play fetch with a tennis ball and chase after the soccer ball.  Plays great with puppies and is gentle with them. Food can never be around because he resource guards his food from other dogs, so we feel he should be an only dog in his family because of this. He takes treats very gently.   Indy has been neutered, wormed, microchipped, and heartworm tested and vaccinated. If you are interested in meeting/adopting him just fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on the 'Adopt A Dog' icon and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch.
