Story
Hans is the embodiment of a good boy. He is comfortable with everyone, easy to walk, listens well, and just wants to enjoy life with his family. * Good with new people * Good with dogs, including off leash dog parks * Good with cats, including cats that do not like him. He does get stuck in rooms sometimes because the cat is in the doorway. * Good with kids, even those who don’t know how to be nice yet. His biggest flaw - if you can call it that - is that he’s a giant cuddle bug that does not realize he’s 70 lbs. His favorite place to sit is on his humans, and he goes to great lengths to figure out how to do so. He’s completely kennel trained and will “go to bed” from anywhere in the house. Needs a little bit more training with manners, especially when food is left out. But he has no aggressive characteristics. Mess with his feet, eyes, ears, mouth, all safe. Adoption fee will be donated to Great Plains SPCA.

Thank you for taking the time to read about Moses. Writing something like this is never easy, but we hope to find him the calm, loving home he truly deserves. Moses is a sweet Boxer who has been with our family since he was just 10 weeks old. He has a gentle heart and forms strong bonds with the people he trusts. He is wonderful on a leash, enjoys his walks, and is happiest spending quiet time with his people. Moses is also sensitive and nervous, especially around other dogs. Because of this, he would do best as the only dog in a calm home where he can feel safe and relaxed. A fenced yard is important for him, as he is a runner and loves having space to move around safely. He finds comfort in routine and actually prefers being kenneled when he is alone or at night; it helps him feel secure. Once he feels safe with someone, his sweet and loyal personality really shines. Moses is a really good dog who simply needs the right environment. One that is quiet patient, and full of love.

Meet Cane! Cane is a sweet, goofy Boxer/Pit Bull mix with a big heart and an even bigger love for naps and snuggles. He's house-trained, knows his basic commands, and loves learning new things, especially when treats are involved (very food motivated!). Most days, Cane is happily snoozing, supervising his humans, or curled up as close as possible on the couch. Once a day, he enjoys a short but enthusiastic case of the zoomies before returning to his favorite activity: relaxing. Toys will bring him out of a slumber every time, and he loves some rowdy playtime too. Cane would thrive in a calm, adult-only home where he can be the only pet. He does best without other animals or children and truly shines when he gets all the attention. In the right home, he's affectionate, loyal, and full of personality. If you're looking for a low-key companion who will keep your couch warm and your heart full, Cane may be your perfect match. I wish I could keep him myself truly, he's my best friend.

Nobody knows how to wear a hat quite like I do&#44 dont you think? Hi there&#44 Im Ava! A sweet and silly girl that cant wait for her forever family. Thankfully&#44 all the kind people at the shelter have given me so much to be happy about. Ive learned what it means to be house trained&#44 how to share my toys&#44 and Ive experienced what it means to be loved&#44 really and truly loved by a human.

I want so much to trust every human I meet right away. But I need a little time to get to know someone and really develop a sense of connection and love for that human. The shelter experience lends itself to a lot of unfamiliar people needing to interact with me often&#44 and I get nervous and scared around all that attention. I prefer slower introductions&#44 getting to know the person&#44 and finding that I can trust that no one wants to hurt me. Once there is patience and understanding between us&#44 Im a little doll. Ive got quite the personality&#44 and I want so much to be a part of a family and feel included in activities.

I am also kennel trained&#44 and I like to sleep in my quiet little spot. Ive been soaking up the love in a foster home recently. When Im not snuggled up with Foster Dad&#44 I enjoy playing with my toys and snoozing the day way. I absolutely adore squeaky toys&#44 and Im a big fan of car rides&#44 too. Starbucks Pup Cup anyone?

Before I fully commit to a family&#44 Id really love to meet everyone to ensure we all have that special connection. Since Im still learning that new people are indeed trustworthy&#44 I would appreciate older kids who know how to be gentle with me. Love is a two-way street&#44 you know. I cant wait to shower my new family with endless love&#44 loyalty&#44 and lots of joy. Together&#44 well make beautiful memories&#44 and I promise to be the best companion anyone could ask for.

Love from Ava

Story
Buddy Boxer / Terrier Mix (best guess) DOB: 10/20/2024 Approx. 50 lbs Buddy is the kind of dog people say they’re looking for — friendly, house trained, and easy to have around. At about 1.5 years old, he has that great balance of playful energy and good house manners. His foster reports that Buddy has been a wonderful guest in the home and has had no accidents. Buddy loves people and quickly wins over everyone he meets. He enjoys playing with other dogs, bouncing around the yard, and then settling nearby once the fun is over. At about 50 lbs, Buddy is a great medium-large size — big enough for adventures and playtime but still easy to live with day to day. He has also lived with young children and did well, showing gentle and appropriate behavior. Buddy is an observant dog who likes to take in new situations for a moment before jumping in. Once he realizes everything is good, he relaxes quickly and joins the fun. ✔ House trained ✔ Friendly with people ✔ Enjoys other dogs ✔ Good recall and listens well ✔ Lived with children Buddy is ready for a home where he can finally settle in, be part of the family, and stick around for good. Breed mix is a best guess based on appearance. All of our dogs/pups are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines. Adoption fee: $225 Our dogs are in foster homes across the KC metro. We do not have a shelter facility. Apply to meet Buddy: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAUS/Dog

Andrea (Annie) is the epitome of the Good Time Gal. Don’t let this squishy face fool you! She has a great sense of adventure and the most loving nature. She is just the right amount of cautious but loves to explore. The smartest girl, she is doing really well with potty training and learning her manners. Annie is taking puppy classes at Zoom Dog Training in Overland Park. Annie knows her name and will come when called. She can also sit and stay like a champ! Annie will make the best pet with an owner who will teach her what to do. She does fine with other dogs and cats. Zoom is offering her adopter 5 free classes to help her get adjusted to her new home. Annie is available to LOCAL (KC area only) adopters through our Foster to Adopt program. Her adopters will be required to take her to and from her already scheduled spay appointment(s). Her adoption fee is $275 and includes all age-appropriate vaccines, spay, microchip, and heartworm prevention. Story
Dima is a purebred American Bully born 01/17/2018 with a purple-ribbon pedigree, and I have her full papers available. While she is not spayed, she is not being placed as a breeding dog — her temperament is far more suited for companionship than a kennel or breeding program. She is extremely people-oriented, affectionate, and thrives on attention, making her happiest when she’s close to her family. She loves being around adults and children, seeks out interaction, and wants to be part of everyday life rather than living outdoors or isolated. I’m looking for a stable, loving home where she will be treated as a true family member, given time, affection, and consistency. The right home for her is someone who wants a loyal companion, not just a pet, and understands the responsibility that comes with owning a strong but very loving breed.

Story
I sure wish I had some great story to tell you about my past life. You know&#44 a story where Im the hero&#44 and I rescued my family from a burning building; or&#44 I pulled the sled team alongside Balto&#44 and we raced across the Alaskan tundra getting life saving medicine to sick children. Alas&#44 I cant tell you those stories because I think I just made them up.

No&#44 I was actually adopted from Great Plains four years ago&#44 and once I went home&#44 well&#44 I lost touch with my friends here. Fast forward to today&#44 and I came into the shelter again because my family moved away and deserted me at our house. I know for a fact it wasnt me or anything I said or did. I think they just didnt want the responsibility of a dog any longer so they abandoned me. Im over it&#44 and I hold no grudges against humans because of them. I know that I need to open my heart to a new family&#44 trust them&#44 and that maybe this time - THIS TIME - they will love me and care for me until the end of my days. I want to be a member of a family and do my part to care and support and love all of those in it.

I lucked out and have had the privilege of living in a foster home with a wonderful couple. They are so good to me&#44 and in return&#44 I have been nothing but a very good dog. I stick to my Foster Mom (FM) like a little bit of velcro. We have kissing sessions in the morning&#44 belly rubs mid-morning&#44 and a wonderful walk around the neighborhood whenever we want. My Foster Dad missed having a dog in the house&#44 so they decided that fostering would be the way to go. He and FM say that&#44 and I quote&#44 Kermit is the best foster dog we have ever had. I am perfect in the home&#44 I am as sweet and loving as they come&#44 and I even get to sleep in bed with them sometimes. They have a four-foot fence&#44 and I dont try to jump it or anything. What kind of dumbo would you have to be to jump a fence and leave this home and family? I love them with all my heart.

Im a calmer guy now than when I was at the shelter previously&#44 more relaxed and mellow than before. Ive maybe gotten over some of my fears&#44 and Ive learned that love is the most important thing in life. Love and smelling the roses on a daily basis. Oh and eating bonbons with someone you love on the couch watching a rom-com. I prefer affection and attention from my human(s) above all else. I want a home where I can hang my hat&#44 climb into my bed&#44 and drift off to sleep knowing that I have a safe and loving haven in which to live. Yes&#44 Ive reached my senior years. And they are years to be enjoyed and savored - like a good book or fine wine. Honestly&#44 I liken myself to a vintage bottle of Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. We both have a smooth&#44 velvety texture&#44 we age gracefully over time&#44 even improving as the years go by. Could you ask for anything more in a dog?

I hope that you are my person. I hope that you are reading about me and want to meet me. I so want my chance at a happily ever after.

Love from Kermit (aka Kirby)

Featuring photos by Krystle-Lee Photography
