Story
Meet Cane! Cane is a sweet, goofy Boxer/Pit Bull mix with a big heart and an even bigger love for naps and snuggles. He's house-trained, knows his basic commands, and loves learning new things, especially when treats are involved (very food motivated!). Most days, Cane is happily snoozing, supervising his humans, or curled up as close as possible on the couch. Once a day, he enjoys a short but enthusiastic case of the zoomies before returning to his favorite activity: relaxing. Toys will bring him out of a slumber every time, and he loves some rowdy playtime too. Cane would thrive in a calm, adult-only home where he can be the only pet. He does best without other animals or children and truly shines when he gets all the attention. In the right home, he's affectionate, loyal, and full of personality. If you're looking for a low-key companion who will keep your couch warm and your heart full, Cane may be your perfect match. I wish I could keep him myself truly, he's my best friend.

Story
Havarti is a young Boxer mix with a heart as soft as his favorite nap spot—your lap. This sweet boy is the definition of a gentle soul. Friendly with everyone he meets, Havarti greets the world with a wagging tail, curious eyes, and a whole lot of love to give. Out of his litter, Havarti is known as the cuddler—the one who would rather be snuggled up with his humans than causing mischief. He’s happiest when he can curl up beside you (or right on top of you) and drift off into a cozy nap. Don’t let his love of lounging fool you, though—he still has that playful puppy spirit and enjoys his moments of fun and exploration. Havarti would thrive in a home where he can get plenty of affection, gentle guidance, and, of course, lots of cuddle time. Whether you're looking for a loyal companion, a Netflix buddy, or a snuggle expert, Havarti is ready to fill that role perfectly. If you're searching for a loving, easygoing pup who will melt right into your arms and your heart, Havarti might just be your perfect match. Havarti's adoption fee is $275 and comes with age appropriate vaccines, microchip, neuter, and heartworm prevention. Story
Meet Freya Freya is an 6-month-old female Boxer/Pit mix puppy who is smart, playful, and full of potential. She does well with other dogs and would thrive in a home with older children who can respect puppy boundaries. Freya is very intelligent and eager to learn, and she’ll do best with an adopter ready to continue training. She would benefit from a secure yard with a tall, solid (non–chain link) fence so she can safely burn off energy and explore. Freya has already had bilateral cherry eye surgery and is doing well, with no special care needed beyond routine vet care. She’s a bright, loving pup ready to grow into an amazing companion with the right family. If you are interested in meeting Freya, please fill out an application via our website at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/TRP/Dog and we will get back to you via email once your application has been reviewed. If you have further questions please feel free to reach out to us at adoptionstrp@gmail.com. Story
Pet Location: Wayside Waifs CampusMy Friends at Wayside say:- I am a graduate of Waifs with Wisdom. In this program, I learned basic commands and leash walking skills. My adoption comes with a free 30-minute private training session. - I`m a sweet boy who enjoys being near people for pets.- I already know some basic commands!- My previous owner said that I am house-trained!- I would do well in a variety of homes.- I am eligible for a Slumber Pawty, a 7-10 day in-home trial period. Please visit our website for additional information. My home needs are:- I must meet other dogs in the home before adoption to ensure that we can be buddies.- Cats are much too interesting to me, so my home will need to be cat free.- Smaller animals such as rabbits or guinea pigs are much too interesting to me, so it is recommended my home is small animal free.Hi, I’m Bubba! I’m a 3-year-old mixed breed boy and I’m a total lovebug at heart. I dream of being adored in my furever home and am always on the lookout for belly scratches. I’m needy in the best way, always wanting to be near humans who will shower me with attention. I’m very social and love meeting new people once I feel comfortable. Life feels brighter when someone is paying me attention, and I thrive on affection. I’m hoping to find a family who will love me for my big heart and playful personality.I’m currently enrolled in “Waits with Wisdom,” which means I’m learning all kinds of new skills like basic commands, leash walking, and how to be my best self. My new family will even get a free 30-minute private training session to help me settle in and learn faster. I enjoy learning and feel proud when I get praise for doing something right. I love clear guidance. It helps me feel confident and happy. I’m also curious and love exploring, so walks and activities are my favorite parts of the day.If you have other dogs, I’d need to meet them first to make sure we get along, but I’m usually very friendly and love doggy friends. Once I click with my new family, I promise to be loyal, loving, and full of joy. I’m ready to share adventures, playtime, and lots of cuddles with the right people. With patience and love, I’ll be a companion you’ll treasure every day. I’m excited to find a furever home where I can thrive and be adored. Do we sound like a good match?Love, Bubba

Story
Hubbell is a wonderful dog. He's 6.5 and about as chill as can be. I had him for about 2 days before my landlord informed me she is selling our house, and we have had to make the unfortunate decision to re-home him. I didn't want him back at the shelter so we still have him, but we are also still getting to know him! Hubbell loves everyone he meets. He really just wants to snuggle. He's gentle taking treats and has been good around small children so far. He does okay on a leash, and would improve with a little training. Currently, his walks are short as he is being treated for heartworm. He has about 3 months left of his monthly treatment, and I have meds to send with him. He also does well in his kennel and I have a kennel, a bed, a leash and harness to donate, as well as any food or treats I have left. We haven't tested him with other dogs. The shelter said he was shy in play groups, and on walks he seems to want to play. Unsure of cats.

These pups are in Mission, Kansas too!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
I sure wish I had some great story to tell you about my past life. You know&#44 a story where Im the hero&#44 and I rescued my family from a burning building; or&#44 I pulled the sled team alongside Balto&#44 and we raced across the Alaskan tundra getting life saving medicine to sick children. Alas&#44 I cant tell you those stories because I think I just made them up.

No&#44 I was actually adopted from Great Plains four years ago&#44 and once I went home&#44 well&#44 I lost touch with my friends here. Fast forward to today&#44 and I came into the shelter again because my family moved away and deserted me at our house. I know for a fact it wasnt me or anything I said or did. I think they just didnt want the responsibility of a dog any longer so they abandoned me. Im over it&#44 and I hold no grudges against humans because of them. I know that I need to open my heart to a new family&#44 trust them&#44 and that maybe this time - THIS TIME - they will love me and care for me until the end of my days. I want to be a member of a family and do my part to care and support and love all of those in it.

I lucked out and have had the privilege of living in a foster home with a wonderful couple. They are so good to me&#44 and in return&#44 I have been nothing but a very good dog. I stick to my Foster Mom (FM) like a little bit of velcro. We have kissing sessions in the morning&#44 belly rubs mid-morning&#44 and a wonderful walk around the neighborhood whenever we want. My Foster Dad missed having a dog in the house&#44 so they decided that fostering would be the way to go. He and FM say that&#44 and I quote&#44 Kermit is the best foster dog we have ever had. I am perfect in the home&#44 I am as sweet and loving as they come&#44 and I even get to sleep in bed with them sometimes. They have a four-foot fence&#44 and I dont try to jump it or anything. What kind of dumbo would you have to be to jump a fence and leave this home and family? I love them with all my heart.

Im a calmer guy now than when I was at the shelter previously&#44 more relaxed and mellow than before. Ive maybe gotten over some of my fears&#44 and Ive learned that love is the most important thing in life. Love and smelling the roses on a daily basis. Oh and eating bonbons with someone you love on the couch watching a rom-com. I prefer affection and attention from my human(s) above all else. I want a home where I can hang my hat&#44 climb into my bed&#44 and drift off to sleep knowing that I have a safe and loving haven in which to live. Yes&#44 Ive reached my senior years. And they are years to be enjoyed and savored - like a good book or fine wine. Honestly&#44 I liken myself to a vintage bottle of Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. We both have a smooth&#44 velvety texture&#44 we age gracefully over time&#44 even improving as the years go by. Could you ask for anything more in a dog?

I hope that you are my person. I hope that you are reading about me and want to meet me. I so want my chance at a happily ever after.

Love from Kermit (aka Kirby)

Featuring photos by Krystle-Lee Photography
