Despite being found tied to a pole and brought to the Manhattan ACC, Xena has held onto her gentle, easygoing spirit and quickly became a shelter favorite. Now in foster care, Xena continues to impress everyone with her calm, loving demeanor. She's crate trained (sleeps and eats in her crate), potty trained, and knows her basic cues like "sit," "paw," "crate," and "down." She's also incredibly mellow, spending most of her day lounging and soaking up the love. Xena absolutely adores people, snuggles, pets, and belly rubs are the way to her heart. Give a warm welcome to That’s Hot, or Hottie for short, a 5.5 month old, 30 pound (as of 10/1) Terrier/Boxer mix who is fun, fearless, friendly, and housebroken! Yup, and that’s just for starters! Hottie is fabulous with kids, adults, and other dogs. She’s obsessed with toys, she loves to cuddle, and she is eager to please. Responsive to treats, she sits on command and is ready to add more words to her vocabulary. She has been working on her leash skills and is getting better every day. Hottie enjoys getting fresh air and likes to bask in the sunshine. Hottie is very food motivated, but she doesn’t guard her food, treats or toys. You can move her food dish, take away her toys, or touch her paws, and it’s all okay with her. Outgoing and brave, Hottie travels well and isn’t scared of anything. She actually welcomes adventure and loves meeting new people. Hottie barks only when excited and seems to be a minimal shedder. But watch out for your socks! Meet Oscar! Oscar is a 4-year-old Boxer/Mountain Cur mix with a shiny black-and-tan coat and bright, expressive eyes that seem to smile when he’s happy. Medium-sized at about 53 pounds, he’s an athletic and affectionate companion who loves to be outside, explore new scents, and play in the leaves. Oscar is smart, eager to please, and bonds deeply with his people. He thrives on routine, gentle guidance, and positive reinforcement. Once he trusts you, he’s incredibly loyal and will happily curl up near you after a good walk or play session. Oscar has been working with a veterinary behaviorist for anxiety and fear-based behaviors. He does best in a calm, structured home without children, where his boundaries can be respected and he can feel secure. He’s currently on a behavior-support plan (including medication and training) that has helped him relax and enjoy life more. His ideal adopter will be someone experienced with dogs who have anxiety or fear issues, and who can continue his care with patience and consistency. In the right home, Oscar will reward that patience with love, devotion, and plenty of happy tail wags. This sweet, handsome boy was on the list to be euthanized and we were fortunate enough to save him minutes before it was too late . Surrendered through no fault of his own, King Jimmy was deeply loved by his previous family, who made the difficult decision to rehome him after moving in to care for elderly parents. This loyal boy has known nothing but love and kindness and is now hoping to find his next forever home—one where he can once again be someone’s best friend, hiking buddy, and devoted shadow.King aka Jimmy is the perfect blend of playful and chill. He's housebroken, crate trained, and knows all his basic commands—including “sit,” “stay,” “wait,” and “leave it.” He’s got great leash manners, walking at a calm, easy pace with only the occasional tug when something especially exciting (like a stray cat!) crosses his path. He’s easily redirected with a gentle voice or treat and always eager to please. Speaking of treats, he loves them :) Jimmy’s previous owner stated that he was attacked by two dogs before coming into the shelter (see his adorably wonky ear). Drako is a 4 Year Old Boxer Pitbull mix. He is an extremely funny, loving, kind, caring dog who needs someone to give him the time he deserves. He does have some trauma from when he was a puppy, he was bit by other dogs that were being fostered and developed a fear. We went to training but it does take him time to open up. I have two pitbulls, who both need more attention from me, and I believe, in the right home, Drako will be a lot happier. If you’re looking for a dog who will go anywhere with you, that will cuddle you and can keep you on your toes, he is definitely the dog for you. I would love someone experienced since he does have some trauma but he loves any and all people. He is always perfect for the adventurous owner! Great on hikes, runs and long walks.

Buster needs a loving home! We rescued him earlier this year but unfortunately, we cannot keep him long-term due to his anxieties about living in a dog-heavy area. Buster is dog aggressive and needs an experienced adopter. A little about Buster: - 5 year old Bulldog with a big head but a medium build (about 60 lbs) - Loves to just lounge around and nap - Housebroken but he does have accidents when he’s stressed out or anxious - Crate trained - Neutered and vaccinated, no history of disease - Reactive with dogs he doesn’t know. Once he was socialized with our dog, they got along just fine. He’s gotten better with training but will need management likely for life. - Loves toys but is not destructive and won’t tear up furniture or clothes if left alone - Can be left along for several hours without oversight - doesn’t often bark - Big, squishy cuddler who will be your little shadow
