Story
Aqua is one-half of a dynamic bonded duo: Aqua and Chewey! Aqua is a sweet, quiet shorthaired brown Chihuahua. Her best friend Chewey is a 7-year-old long-haired Chihuahua. Like true besties, they do everything together: sleep, eat, go on walks. They even weigh the same: 12 pounds. Aqua is an observer; Chewey tends to yell at other dogs. But both adorable and easy to handle. These two little doggos will bring joy and laughter to any home lucky enough to be their forever family. Is it yours?* A tad shy at first but both quickly warm up* Sweet and affectionate with people and each other* BFF playmates and cuddle buddies* Should be fine with kids* Other dogs probably okay with Chewey if they`re given time to acclimate* Confident cats okayCome meet these two cuties from 12-4PM any day but Monday at FAAS, 1590 Fortmann Way in Alameda!

I'm Poe! Keep the cool vibes rolling, and the treats flowing, and we will get off on the right foot! I can be picky about who I let in my inner circle (what can I say, I have standards). And even though I am adorable and tiny, I am not a huge fan of being picked up. Respect my boundaries and I will love you furrever and ever. I love to play, take little trots around the block, and cuddle up for pets at the end of the day. I'm spunky and particular, but not spicy, so come hang out with me today! Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereThis Dog is Available By Appointment Only Sabina is a hidden gem. She's very sweet, loyal, cuddly, on the quiet side, walks great on leash, and is potty trained. She doesn't mind other dogs but prefers to keep to herself and is more of an introvert than a social butterfly. Given her mellow attitude, she may not mind cats, but she has not been exposed to them. She gets nervous in new environments and spooked by loud and unexpected noises, so a home with older children would be best to ensure she's her best self. She's very mellow and spends most of her day relaxing in her bed or cuddling with you on the couch. She's also an excellent overnight guest; she sleeps through the night and rarely moves from her spot. She's not a huge barker; we've only seen her bark when my resident chihuahua starts it, and she joins in. She's great for someone looking for a smaller dog without the giant attitude. We have not been crate-training her, given that she is not destructive when we are gone, although she is used to being in her playpen and can be left in there overnight or while you're out. She prefers to be next to you rather than tucked away. We are working on separation anxiety and possessiveness; she growls when we are petting or cuddling with her, and other dogs get close. She also cries when no humans are in the room, but this has been happening less and less as she gets used to us. We are working on these with her, and she seems to respond well to consistent training, treats, pets, and verbal rewards. Sabina is a flight risk and will run off if she is spooked, so whoever adopts her should do on-leash walks only with her for as long as needed as she gets used to her new environment. Sabina has bloomed so much in her time with us; she went from terrified and distant to sweet and cuddly. She is a prime example of what a little love and a feeling of safety can do. She would be ideal in a home that wants a close companion and can give her a consistent routine in a calm environment. We hope that she goes to someone who is patient and willing to earn her trust. Ideally, someone whose love language is cuddles and affection. Sabina will be sure to return that love a hundredfold. Follow her foster adventures @adopt_sabina on Instagram! Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereMeet Edwin! Edwin is blossoming in his foster home! After just a month, he’s revealing his true personality as an active, curious, and energetic bundle of very soft fur. He loves his canine roommate and enjoys hiking up to 5 miles with dogs of all sizes. Edwin isn’t intimidated by bigger dogs and enjoys meeting new friends on the trail. This smart boy loves treats, making him easily trainable. He’s already mastered “sit” and “down” and is working on “stay.” Edwin is also great on leash walks and is becoming more confident and relaxed every day. While strangers can still make him nervous, once properly introduced, Edwin transforms into a total love bug. He might bark or yelp when uncomfortable, but he also has a unique chirping and warbling voice. Snuggling up on the couch and getting pets and massages are some of his favorite activities. Edwin’s ideal home would be with people who can help him work on his social skills and reactions to strangers. He could use some help learning to share treats, as he has shown some resource guarding. Edwin would thrive with continued training and might benefit from having another canine companion for playtime. A household that provides daily activity would suit him best. Story
I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereCardi B is a pocket size bundle of cuteness!! She is a lovely little girl who warms up quickly with new people when in a low key environment.  She would thrive as either an only dog or with another small friendly dog in a quiet, adult household, and would do well in either an apartment or house setting.  As an adult dog, Cardi B is fully housetrained, sleeps quietly in a crate (though she would prefer to sleep with her human!!) and walks nicely on a leash though she can be a little shy when approached by strangers.  She loves to cuddle and be a snuggle buddy in bed or on the sofa. She is not a kisser and shows little interest in toys, but knows that it is time for a walk when she sees her leash and harness. Cardi B is a super sweet and super easy little dog!! Story
BayBee's adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous individual so when we approve the perfect adoption application for her, her adoption fee will be waived! This long and lanky chi mix will melt right into your heart with those big adoring eyes. Baybee (5-6 years old? 11lbs) was found as a stray and spent the first two days at the shelter hiding under her bed. A volunteer eventually coaxed her out and had an immediate friend. While timid and a bit skittish right now, Baybee wastes no time warming up to gentle humans and other dogs of all sizes. She loves to be next to people and is learning that a lap is a very wonderful place to be. She has grown leaps and bounds in her confidence after only a few days in her foster home. She does well with her foster siblings (male and female), appears to be potty pad trained, walks on a leash, and sleeps through the night in her own bed. She loves to stretch her long body and drag herself across the floor as if she's swimming - very entertaining! Baybee can be a little skittish in noisy areas like cities etc. She would do best in a home in a quiet neighborhood. We have not tested BayBee with cats however she does take a big interest in critters outside and chasing them. This leads us to believe that she may be a cat chaser. *If you have a cat, we'd suggest a slow introduction with a safe space for the cat to jump up on or go to for personal space from a dog. A baby gate can work wonders for intros such as these*
