Story

Roo is a loving, playful, smart, just-turned-2-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing approximately 15 lbs. We've enjoyed having Roo with us for over a year. We are sad to have to rehome her, but our living circumstances unfortunately require it. When Roo first came to live with us, she was very anxious, but once she is comfortable with someone, she really comes out of her shell. She is very affectionate and would love nothing more than to sit in your lap. Being a young dog, she is energetic and really enjoys her walks and playing with her toys inside the house. We think her ideal living environment would be a quiet home with an individual or couple who can devote the time and attention she prefers. She can be anxious, and we would welcome the opportunity to share ways we've worked to address that. She is very treat motivated and follows commands well when treats are offered. Holiday Cookie family. Oreo (mom) 2 pups Ginger Snap and Chocolate Chip and two other of their family Sugar Cookie and Snicker Doodle were all abandoned at a distant shelter when their previous elder guardian had health issues and had to move to a facility. They were all nervous but Oreo and puppy Sugar Cookie warmed up the fastest. Snicker Doodle is more timid and needs more time to adjust to feel safe. All are very sweet and once comfortable are friendly and enjoy attention. They had all their vet care vaccinations deworm Microchip and now relaxing and learning at their volunteer foster homes. Dec 2023 Update: Snicker Doodle is shy and nervous at first but warms up and then very affectionate and friendly. He is very fond of Sugar Cookie and loves to play with her. So he would love another dog at home. He also loves to lay on his back and chill with his human on the sofa. He tries to chase the neighborhood cats so no cats in home for him. He is friendly with other dogs once he gets to know them. Once he heals up from the neutering we will try to walks around the neighborhood. Snicker Doodle would do best in a home with another dog or best Need time to warm up. For his happiness another dog at home or adopted with his buddy Sugarcookie (Abby) is best. He follows and sleeps with Abby so need another dog at home. Need home with backyard. 1/13/24 update: He can zip around like a fool and then bask in snuggles. He is very apprehensive of new people and needs time to meet. We are still working on the walks. He is very treat motivated and can train him on leash with treats. He loves to lay with his human and get snuggles. He did well at his vacation home boarding with other dogs. Trainer started to work with him with harness walk in backyard and he follows with treats. He is very treat motivated so easier to trained than Sugar Cookie for walks. Need experienced guardian to continue to work with him and baby steps to train to walk on leash. Start in backyard and work up to front porch/lawn area using treats. Katy was an urgent rescue from a very overcrowded and distant shelter. She was abandoned on 5/20/24 and very pregnant. She will give birth soon to her puppies and the shelter needed her out. She is very sweet loves belly rubs gentle can be carried and adorable. At her hero foster home she is now comfortable relaxing and enjoys sofa time with them. Eating well and calm. More info. to come after she delivers her puppies. She and her puppies will not be available for 8 weeks after the puppies are born. 6/1/24 UPDATE: Katy gave birth to 3 pups. One passed at birth. The 2 pups are male and female. They will not be ready until 2 months old and after they get their vet care. After Aug. 1st. Katy need home with attached fence yard. Katy's two pups Kody and Kimi (will be 8 weeks old on Aug 1st) will move to their next foster homes next weekend. Pups were born at their foster home and home raised. Katy was very pregnant when we took her in from SASA shelter. Foster home is lined up for Katy who has a great pending adopter. Her two pups 7 weeks old need a puppy foster home to start learning to go out to yard for potty biz socialize them outside of home attend puppy socials and will need to go to our vet for first exam and vaccinations. Although she is currently thriving in her foster home with other small dogs and cats, she is waiting for a forever home. She'd be happy to have another small dog as a sibling in her forever home, but she can also be the only pet. Although London is completely healthy now, when London came to our rescue, she was very sick and was extremely constipated that she needed to be hospitalized and had a enigma done. Her fur was also falling off due to the extreme stress she had endured at an overcrowded shelter. To apply to adopt Linus, fill out our application on www.barkrescueca.org/adopt*** Linus is 18 lbs and is 4 years old. We saved Linus from an overcrowded shelter a couple of months ago. He is in need of a permanent family who can be patient with him and build his confidence. Even though he is part Chihuahua, he is very mellow and quiet. He is not the typical lap dog. He needs a permanent family who can help him build his confidence. He is independent and likes his own space. He is currently taking anxiety medicines to help with his anxiety. When he came to us 3 months ago, he was completely shut down, too scared to even leave his crate and too scared to be picked up. Now he has started to gain some confidence, has been able to be picked up, climbed up the couch to sit next to his foster mom and even explored his foster parents' backyard! Although he is now a healthy dog, we have been taking care of his health, making sure that he remains healthy and treating any health issues he has had (like diarrhea, or parasitic worms, etc). This is why his adoption fee is $450, to help us cover (at least partially) his veterinarian expenses.
