Story
Holiday Cookie family. Oreo (mom) 2 pups Ginger Snap and Chocolate Chip and two other of their family Sugar Cookie and Snicker Doodle were all abandoned at a distant shelter when their previous elder guardian had health issues and had to move to a facility. They were all nervous but Oreo and puppy Sugar Cookie warmed up the fastest. Snicker Doodle is more timid and needs more time to adjust to feel safe. All are very sweet and once comfortable are friendly and enjoy attention. They had all their vet care vaccinations deworm Microchip and now relaxing and learning at their volunteer foster homes. Update from foster home: Sugar Cookie is very friendly and playful with Snickerdoodle around. She loves to attack squeaky toys. She is skittish around new situations or alone but also playful once comfortable. Both Sugar Cookie and Snicker Doodle are good dogs and love playing with each other. She would be happier being adopted with Snicker Doodle or have another friendly small dog at home. Need home with backyard. She needs training and time to learn to go on walks. Once outside of home she wants to run back inside. She adjusted and did well at home vacation boarding. Still not comfortable with walks yet with Harness. Need experienced person to do baby steps to learn and let her wear a harness and walk around yard then later see out front lawn area. She is not as treat motivated as Snicker Doodle.May 8, 2024, 1:08 am

All are very sweet and once comfortable are friendly and enjoy attention. They had all their vet care vaccinations deworm Microchip and now relaxing and learning at their volunteer foster homes. Dec 2023 Update: Snicker Doodle is shy and nervous at first but warms up and then friendly. He is very fond of Sugar Cookie and loves to play with her. He also loves to lay on his back and chill with his human on the sofa. He tries to chase the neighborhood cats so no cats in home for him. He is friendly with other dogs once he gets to know them. Once he heals up from the neutering we will try to walks around the neighborhood. Snicker Doodle would do best in a home with another dog or best if adopted with Sugar Cookie. The two stick together all the time and comfort each other. Alone he is very nervous and skittish. Need time to warm up. For his happiness another dog at home or adopted with his buddy Sugarcookie (Abby) is best. He follows and sleeps with Abby. Need home with backyard. 1/13/24 update: He can zip around like a fool and then bask in snuggles. He is very apprehensive of new people. We are still working on the walks. He’s a stubborn guy. When he doesn’t want to do something he becomes dead weight. He won’t move. He loves to lay with his human and get snuggles. He loves playing with Sugar Cookie so I think he would be ok with other dogs. He sleeps all night without barking he is anxious in new situations but he’s not a mean dog at all. He sheds only a little. He needs training and time to learn to go on walks. Once outside of his home he wants to run back inside. More of a home body due to being under socialized and was too isolated in home only. Must have a home with back yard. He did well at his vacation home boarding with other dogs. Trainer started to work with him with harness walk in backyard and he follows with treats. He is very treat motivated so easier to trained than Sugar Cookie for walks. Need experienced guardian to continue to work with him and baby steps to train to walk on leash. Start in backyard and work up to front porch/lawn area using treats.May 8, 2024, 1:08 am

Story
***if you're interested in adopting her, please fill out our application on www.barkrecueca.org/adopt Since the dog is currently living in a private foster home, we can only accommodate meet & greets for APPROVED applications*** London is a sweet 8-year-old 8lbs lady who has gone through a lot in her life. Although she is currently thriving in her foster home with other small dogs and cats, she is waiting for a forever home. She'd be happy to have another small dog as a sibling in her forever home, but she can also be the only pet. Although London is completely healthy now, when London came to our rescue, she was very sick and was extremely constipated that she needed to be hospitalized and had a enigma done. Her fur was also falling off due to the extreme stress she had endured at an overcrowded shelter. The $450 adoption fee for her adoption is to partially cover the amount of money that we have spent to get her to the current optimal health that she has now. If you're interested in adopting her, please fill out our application on www.barkrescueca.org/adopt and we will reach out to you about next steps.

Story
***Linus is currently living in a PRIVATE foster home, so we can only accommodate meet & greets for APPROVED applications. To apply to adopt Linus, fill out our application on www.barkrescueca.org/adopt*** Linus is 18 lbs and is 4 years old. We saved Linus from an overcrowded shelter a couple of months ago. He is in need of a permanent family who can be patient with him and build his confidence. Even though he is part Chihuahua, he is very mellow and quiet. He is not the typical lap dog. He needs a permanent family who can help him build his confidence. He is independent and likes his own space. He is currently taking anxiety medicines to help with his anxiety. When he came to us 3 months ago, he was completely shut down, too scared to even leave his crate and too scared to be picked up. Now he has started to gain some confidence, has been able to be picked up, climbed up the couch to sit next to his foster mom and even explored his foster parents' backyard! Although he is now a healthy dog, we have been taking care of his health, making sure that he remains healthy and treating any health issues he has had (like diarrhea, or parasitic worms, etc). This is why his adoption fee is $450, to help us cover (at least partially) his veterinarian expenses. If you're interested please apply on www.barkrescueca.org/adopt and we will reach out to you about next steps.

Story
We adopted Gatsby from the SPCA when he was a pup. Had him for about 2 years. He is very good at fetch and tug of war. Loves to cuddle and sleep. He does get nervous around new people and needs to warm up to you before making big moves. Usually we use treats and have new people give him treats to build a friendship. He personally loves big squishy beds to sleep on. Overall loved Gatsby but due to living situation we cant keep him.

Story
Chihuahua Age: 1 yr old Female, spayed 9 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Chloe came to us from the Stockton Shelter with significant injuries from being hit by a car. Her pelvis, tail and rear leg hock were all fractured. The pelvis fracture was well aligned and healing on its own. The tail was deem “dead” and needed to be amputated. Her rear hock fracture was repaired by the surgeon, but she will likely have a slight limp on that leg. In addition to her injuries, she was somewhat under socialized for being so young. However, within a couple weeks she warmed up to her foster family. Timidness aside, she is a sweet loving young dog and get along with everyone. She wants to play and bond with other dogs. She needs a forever home with another playful young dog her size. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. Story
Chihuahuas Age: 4 yrs / 1 yr Females, spayed 9 / 7 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Kanga and Roo came to us from the San Mateo SPCA. Kanga wasn’t at risk, and would have been available for adoption at the shelter. However, her surviving puppy (the other one died at the shelter), Roo, was special needs and was still nursing, so we had to take Kanga and the puppy, Roo, together. After separating them for a while once Roo was weaned, we decided to put them back together after Roo recovered from her surgeries. Kanga came from a very bad hoarding situation. She was very underweight (which probably contributed to the poor condition of her two puppies). She is very healthy now, and ready to be adopted. Roo showed signs of congenital birth defects in her legs (not surprising, given her rough start). Three of her legs were “good enough” for mobility, while the 4th leg was pretty messed up. We decided to do a series of surgeries to realign the bones on the worst leg. She is fully recovered and gets around pretty good (although, not sure that she could take long walks - maybe a stroller is in her future?) Kanga can be very shy and cautious when meeting new people, but when she does feel comfortable, she is super sweet and affectionate. Roo, as a puppy, loves everyone. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. For more information about Kanga & Roo, contact nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com

Story
Chihuahua Mixes Age: < 1 yrs old Males, neutered 10 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Rocco and Milhouse were left in the shelter’s night drop box in a cardboard box. They were very unsocialized (likely they were just backyard puppies that no one wanted). The shelter staff were unable to handle them, and they were deemed “unadoptable” so they contacted us. We originally took the dog with the most issues (Rocco), thinking maybe Milhouse would eventually come around. Rocco remained skittish in his foster home, while Milhouse became more handle-able. We decided to also pull Milhouse into a different foster home to evaluate him. It was decided to reunite the brothers in the same foster home to see if that would help with their insecurities. It did - Rocco started making progress. We have decided to adopt them out together. Both puppies get along with each other and other dogs. They are still somewhat insecure - Rocco is more “alpha” and vocal about his insecurities, while Milhouse is more submissive and needy. Neither dog has shown fear aggression. If you have a chance to grab Rocco, he submits pretty quickly to being held and given attention. They walk on leashes and are doing well with housebreaking. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. For more information about Rocco and Milhouse, contact: nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com
