Story
Maggie is a 3 year old 10 pound chihuahua mix. She’s a bit shy but warms up quickly. She’s relatively calm. Very quiet. Gets along good with other dogs and ignores the cats. She’d love a home that would allow her to sleep with them. Puppy pad trained. With routine should be easy to fully house break. Adoption $350

Story
Meet Burt, a lovable senior dog with a gentle spirit and a heart full of love! At 10 years old, Burt may be in his golden years, but he still has plenty of joy and companionship to offer. This wise and affectionate pup enjoys leisurely strolls in the park, cozy naps in the sun, and snuggling up with his favorite humans.   Burt’s calm demeanor makes him a perfect fit for a relaxed home environment, where he can enjoy his days surrounded by love.   While Burt may not be as energetic as he once was, he has a wealth of experience and love to share. He's looking for a forever home that will appreciate his mellow personality and cherish every moment with him.   If you're ready to welcome a loyal friend into your life, Burt might be just the dog you're looking for! Adopt Burt and give him the loving retirement he deserves. We do not have a facility for you to visit. You are welcome to email ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, but please complete the online application, which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10-day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fees are listed on our website and cover the cost of the spay/neuter, age-appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. Most dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers so there is often very little known about their history or current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC has a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, and we have trainers who will offer free phone/email support. February 11, 2025, 5:33 am

Story
MEET MINNIE! Age: 7 yearsWeight: 6 lbsBreed: Chihuahua Minnie is a sweet and petite girl who was rescued from a challenging situation where she lived in a home with over 40 animals. Despite her past, she has shown a remarkable ability to love and trust. Minnie is a love bug who thrives on attention and companionship. She has a calm demeanor, making her an excellent choice for a quieter household. Perfect for snuggling, Minnie loves to curl up on laps and bask in affection. Minnie has very few teeth due to past dental neglect, so her diet may need to be adjusted to soft foods. She is currently working on house manners and has started pad training. She does not have much experience walking on a leash and is unfamiliarity with stairs,  so she'll need a family willing to help her adjust and feel comfortable in her new environment. Minnie would thrive best in an adult-only home where she can receive the attention and care she deserves. She would benefit from a quieter environment and is best suited for a family without high-energy dogs or large breeds. While she gets along well with other dogs, her ideal companions would be calm and gentle souls. Minnie enjoys wearing sweaters, adding a touch of charm to her petite figure. She has a history of being housed in a cage, so she'll need a family that will provide her with patience, love, and plenty of attention to help her feel secure. Minnie is searching for a special family who will cherish her, provide her a safe and loving home, and help her continue to blossom into the sweet companion she was meant to be. If you think you could be the right fit for Minnie, please consider offering her a forever home! Story
MEET RINGO:    Age: 7 Years Young  Weight: 10 lbs of Love  Breed: Chihuahua mix  Hello! I’m Ringo, a gentle, fun-loving boy who is looking for a forever family. I came from a hoarding situation where I lived among many animals. Despite my background, I am a social boy who enjoys attention.  At just 10 lbs, I’m the perfect size for cuddling! I am looking for a companion that will snuggle on the couch with me on those chilly nights. While I’m friendly with both dogs and cats, I tend to be scared of vwry young kids, as they can be a bit overwhelming for me. I’m still learning how to walk on a leash, which means I’ll need a fenced yard where I can safely explore and play without the stress of walks just yet. Tethering is not a good fit for me either, as I prefer not to have those restrictions. I have displayed a good understanding of house manners and am crate trained.  I may be shy at first introduction, but I have a sweet spirit and a heart full of love just waiting for the right family to share it with. If you’re looking for a cuddly companion who will appreciate your love and kindness, then I could be the perfect match for you! Let’s meet and see if we can create some beautiful memories together!  RINGO is:Current on Rabies and DistemperDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedSpayedADOPTION FEE: $350 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. Story
Olaf, the chocolate Chihuahua, is about 4.5 years old and looking for the perfect, quiet home with someone who is familiar with anxious and fearfully reactive dogs. He would do best in a home with no children, and not a lot of visitors. Cats are a no go for Olaf as are most other dogs. He would be ok with one small, submissive, low-key doggie friend as he likes to play occasionally, but he isn't very good at normal dog play. We lovingly think of Olaf's personality as a cat trapped in a dog's body. Olaf takes a daily anxiety medication to help him feel safe in his everyday environment. Olaf will need an understanding and patient person that will allow him space and decompression time when he gets overstimulated. Olaf is crate trained and for the most part potty trained. However, like any small dog he isn’t a fan of going outside in the rain or cold. He walks wonderfully on leash as long as no off leash dogs approach him, and he also loves to travel in the car. He does like affection on his own terms and will let you know when he no longer wants attention. Olaf's perfect home will need to be willing to give him time and show him patience as he is settling in to your lifestyle, they must also be willing to continue working on training to ensure he lives a happy and safe life. Most importantly Olaf will need a person that is NOT expecting a snuggly lap dog. While he will occasionally snuggle and sit on your lap, it will only happen when he chooses it. His perfect person would be looking for a tiny, quirky shadow that is content with his mere presence as companionship. Olaf is spay/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, heartworm tested and on prevention. Adoption fee for Olaf is $350. If you are interested in adopting Olaf, please fill out an adoption application http://www.furgetusnotrescue.org/application.html .

Story
***Adoption Pending*** What gorgeous coloring and the softest coat Hunter has! He is estimated to be about 8 years old and weighs 7 pounds. Hunter is a funny, happy, and curious dog with lots of love to give. He may be a senior, but he has lots of energy and an adventurous spirit. He was so good for his little photo shoot, we discovered he loves little hot dog pieces, but especially loves to be where you are. Hunter is very affectionate and loves getting lots of pets, cuddles and laying across your lap. He doesn’t want to be left out of anything, while having kitchen time at the rescue, he loved laying on the warm towels out of the dryer and watching one of our volunteers fold the laundry, it was very funny! If you are looking for a sweet, adorable pup with a waggy tail, who is full of love and affection, please come and meet Hunter. Since he is a little older and so tiny, he is looking for a quieter home with older children, where he can live out his golden years in comfort and happiness. Hunter will have to have eyedrops for dry eye for the rest of his life, but he is a trooper about getting them, just a little wiggly! Please consider adopting Hunter and giving this sweet dog the loving home he deserves. If you are interested in Hunter and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*
